I feel sorry for the old man, but it was stealing. There is no apparently about it. Water is not free, itâs not a right to have it, and people pay must pay for it. If a government gives a thing to you like utilities, its still not free because they take it from somewhere else, like in taxes. Â
my friend visiting my house: hey iâm thirsty can i get a glass of water
me:
Nestle isnât gonna fuck you
Also water IS a human right, itâs classified as one by the UN the only country that really disagrees with this is the United States
I know this post is a few years old, but I stumbled on it and I just want to also point out⌠Even aside from water being free or not, even aside from water being a human right,
the old man wasnât stealing.
He was using a neighborâs water, that the neighbor pays for, with the neighborâs permission. Nothing was stolen. The old man just wasnât the one paying. If someone comes to my house and I let them charge their phone while theyâre there, are they STEALING electricity because Iâm the one who pays the electric bill? If I take someone out to dinner, are they STEALING their meal if I pay for both of us? Get fucked.
I hope that person has become a better kinder person since 2021, but I"m not holding my breath.
Image Description.
Facebook post from Matt Norris.
Post reads like a conversation between 2 people:
Prison labor is a problem we need to address soon.
Convicts in prison should have to work like the rest of us.
You mean like slavery?
No, weâre giving them 3 meals and a bed, at our expense, while they just sit around and watch TV. They should have to work!
Right. Like slavery.
Itâs not like slavery!
Can they leave?
No.
Can they refuse work?
No.
So how exactly isnât this slavery?
We DO pay them!
Do we pay in accordance with labor laws?
No. We pay them between 33 cents and $1.41/hour with a maximum daily wage below $5, then take up to half of that as room&board fees and victim compensation.
Right. So like slavery.
BUT.
No.
Image then links to this url.
Prison wages come up again and again in the context of prison conditions and policies. So, we found the most up-to-date information for each
Below URL image reads âfun bonus fact: enough of our labor market currently relies on labor at these depressed rates, that it has a substantial downward pressure on both wages and job availability in low-skilled sectors. Immigrants arenât taking your jobs. Slavery is.
End description.
Iâd also like to add itâs not just private prisons. Itâs also private detention centers where ICE keeps the immigrants.

The constitution even acknowledges that itâs still slavery
a hefty chunk of items with that âmade in americaâ sticker are in fact made by prison labor at the very least anything that is a product of prison labor should be required to have a similar sticker to inform consumers they are taking part of this system, which is difficult to track because prison made manufactured goods include almost the entire uniform of a US soldier, road construction in most southern states, and agricultural goods sold in most stores
thisâŚ. looks familliar
Prison is just covert slavery and thatâs why they wanna keep so many black people in there for the smallest offences.
This is insane
(Just to clarify, Iâm not saying youâre wrong. Iâm just giving you more information because youâre right, and I like your blog, and I want you to have sources in case you need them.)
Itâs not even covert. Itâs blatant and overt. Itâs even called slavery in the constitution.
âSlavery is illegal except as punishment for a crime.â
SECTION. 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, sh
Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.
People just donât care because they think itâs all murderers and rapists, despite the fact that the number of violent criminals in jail is so small it might as well be negligible.
As of September 30, 2009 in federal prisons, 7.9% of sentenced prisoners were incarcerated for violent crimes,[39]Â while at year end 2008 of sentenced prisoners in state prisons, 52.4% had been jailed for violent crimes.[39]Â In 2002 (latest available data by type of offense), 21.6% of convicted inmates in jails were in prison for violent crimes. Among unconvicted inmates in jails in 2002, 34% had a violent offense as the most serious charge. 41% percent of convicted and unconvicted jail inmates in 2002 had a current or prior violent offense; 46% were nonviolent recidivists.[46]
Itâs literally slavery, just dumbass racists and capitalists donât care enough to figure out why weâre calling it that.

Actually, no, I got something to add and itâs this video by Knowing Better on Youtube:
Slavery is baked into the US American system so much more firmly than anyone ever really acknowledges.
Thereâs a very good and very hard-hitting documentary about it on Netflix
Also⌠even if someone has committed a violent crime, enslaving them is⌠ya know⌠still a fucked up thing to do? How is that even in question?
The whole discourse of âwell theyâre not even all violent offendersâ has this weird undertone of âif theyâre good people they shouldnât have to be slavesâ that horrifies me. Even if 100% of them were violent, Slavery. Is. Wrong. All humans have rights.
i would highly recommend âAmerican Prisonâ by Shane Bauer. itâs a sickening read, by a journalist who went undercover as a prison guard and the things he saw and was made to do and did voluntarily. but extremely good, and in many ways necessary. he has some articles that are basically abridged versions as well, if you donât want to or canât read the whole book
A few years ago, California voters had an opportunity to end slavery for incarcerated people in the state. All of the framing in favor of the proposition was âend slavery in californiaâ. Voters chose not to pass the proposition. Still baffled and disgusted to this day. It was and remains slavery.
Squick
Squick is a noble word. It recognizes and honors your own personal taste while recognizing and honoring that your personal taste does not dictate morality.
I wish we used it more.
This might be the funniest reply Iâve ever seen in my life

o fuck there's two of them now did they grow this one in a lab from a cutting?
Obviously he made him out of chocolate. C'mon now.
shaking women by their shoulders with all my strength, screaming YOU DONT NEED TO GET PERMISSION TO BREAK UP WITH SOMEONE!!!!
you can choose to break up with someone for any reason. and itâs your choice. youâre allowed. you donât need to ask for permission. you donât even need to do it in person. you wonât get in trouble. in fact, most of the time youâll be in trouble for fucking staying.
they donât even have to suck! you can just be tired! or bored! or want to be single! you donât have to stay with a person you donât want to be with because they âare such a good person and havenât done anything wrongâ!
WHY DO I KEEP TALKING TO WOMEN WHO ARE STUCK IN RELATIONSHIPS THEY DONT WANT TO BE IN
with no-fault divorces currently on the fucking chopping block, we really need to start telling young women that they have autonomy when it comes to their romantic relationships.
no, you donât have to date that guy just cuz he wants to date you.
no, you donât have to stay with her because she doesnât want to break up.
no, you donât have to keep dating them even though they havenât cheated/abused you/whatever horrible thing is your only reference for ending a relationship.
this is basic info, but youâd be surprised at how many women donât understand this, or feel like itâs not true.
and before ANYONE says that this goes for everyone, not just women, yes of course it does. anyone of any gender can suffer from this.
but letâs not deny that women are taught this shit from a young age. be virtuous, forgiving, kind, soft, turn the other cheek, itâs just cuz heâs a man and youâre a girl and you donât understand. stay with him or youâre a bitch.
As an ace this is the only time "you just haven't met the right person yet" has made me laugh lmaoooo
YOU GET THE FUCK BACK HERE AND EXPLAIN THAT RIGHT NOW
well damn

i do not want to live in the fucking panopticon fuck the camera that blinks above me at work, the tv watching me at the store, the "smile you're on camera" signs, the ring cameras, the flock cameras, the apps to track your child or partner, the activist friends telling me "just assume everything you do in public is being recorded somewhere", the government building protester databases, the teslas recording every move all around them, the knowledge that everything i type or search or save is being tracked and logged, the ads and search suggestions that mysteriously know what i was just talking about, the way biometrics keep creeping into more places, the way my car spies on me, the way my phone spies on me, the way there is nowhere to go to get away from it!!! no wonder the internet is full of vindictive little stalkers and witchhunts when it's the water and the air of society from the culture to the infrastructure
UBI needs to happen. via antiwork
I think most importantly, it would give us the leverage to say ânoâ. To walk away from bad jobs and abusive managers. To refuse to work in unsafe environments. To demand better pay.
To demand better, because the options are no longer âsuck it upâ or âdieâ.
The counter-argument: Not having UBI is in the interests of those in power who want to do anything to the people they are in power over in order to remain in power.
If the greed of the few should come before the need of the many.

funniest possible singular sentence in the english language has already been conceived n it's the first line of the tardis wiki article on "sex"
the past tense implying sex has since been eradicated. the six (6) different synonyms all with 1-3 linked sources. those extensive citations juxtaposed with the extremely vague given definition of "an action performed by two or more people" . it's so fucking good. I could never put together a sentence this funny even if you gave me a full paid year off 2 do it

whenever i see a post about someone wondering how an  asexual and a sexual can be in a healthy relationship thereâs always someone being applauded for saying well asexuals can have sex too or just because someoneâs asexual doesnât mean they wonât have sex but i have never, not once, EVER seen someone say well hey, some sexuals donât have sex. you can have a full relationship without sex. just throwing it out there
Everyone in the notes saying polyamory and open relationships are great fixes for this too are missing the point. Ace people can have sexâand, yes, some enjoy sex. Yes, open relationships can be loving and healthy for ace people too. But ultimately youâre saying asexuality needs to be fixed by access to sex somehow. To quote op âyou can have a full relationship without sexâ. Your suggestion to find sex outside of the relationship with an ace partner completely misses that point.
sorry but youâre not hiding this in the tags:
#it may be surprising to learn this. but allos can choose to be celibate. famously there are entire religious orders where this is a thing #and a catholic nun who stays celibate her whole life can in fact still have a very full and meaningful life with important relationships #itâs not the end of the fucking world #there are people who donât drive too. there are people who have never seen a mountain. there are people who donât play video games. #human experience is too wide to be like ohh if you never do This One Thing then you are sufferinggg like chill maybe
Wait Iâm sorry parent/child incest fic?????? Why does that exist? Why do you KNOW that exists?????? What the fuck đ¤˘
I feel like you can sort of tell how long (or not) someone has existed in fannish spaces by how outraged they get about things like this. Like rings in a tree trunk lol. I've been in so many fandoms. At least one, but often multiple at the same time, since I was a teenager. I've seen just. Everything.
Sex pollen. Mpreg. Incest. Monster fucking. Tentacles. Pairings like Snape/Hermione that would be crazy abusive and illegal if they were real. Wild kinks. The babygirlification of all kinds of villains. So much RPF (the 'I sincerely believe they are secretly a couple' kind and the 'this is fictional but it's fun to imagine they're in love' kind.)
You learn to just scroll past shit you don't like or unfollow people or filter tags. The tldr of fandom is that humans are weird as fuck. And creative, and unhinged, and traumatized, and talented. And amazing. And every single thing that you clutch your pearls about 'well surely someone doesn't want to read/write THAT!' - someone does. Probably lots of people do. And those people are perfectly normal. In their offline lives, they're parents and siblings and they have jobs and friends and they go about their lives and they don't cause any harm. And that's the sticking point. There's this really concerning, frankly highly Evangelical idea that if someone enjoys the wrong kind of fiction, they are obviously a Bad Person. But nothing is that simple, and thought crimes aren't real, and you definitely have some thoughts or ideas that someone else would find fucked up. You don't have to like every kind of fic that exists. I certainly don't. But shaming people for their harmless fantasies about fictional characters is so boring. I saw Goody Proctor enjoying a Toxic Ship! Good for you, I'll alert the pope.
