I had a liver transplant when I was 14 and like six months later I was chatting with my surgeon and he said “there’s gonna come a time, probably when you’re a teenager, where you’re gonna think, ‘I feel great, why am I still taking all this medication? I haven’t needed it in years.’ and you’re gonna want to stop taking all this medication. Guess what’s gonna happen then? i got inspired by antique furniture -> decided to try and make a wooden doll.
she is whittled entirely out of balsa wood with a craft knife, and colored with wood dye. the cabinet has miniature hinges made of tube beads and a metal rod, and closes with a magnet. she absolutely should hold a sentimental & important object, but i don't have any that are the correct size, so i just put in some cute trinkets.

At least one of these images (the middle image) is actually by amateur astrophotographer Ildar Ibatullin from Ukraine, taken in 2025. I am relatively certain all three of them are Ildar's work, but I don't have time to locate all three images on his accounts so don't quote me on that. He's like 20 or 21 years old iirc and the photos are taken from earth! :D

I don't know how to articulate this well, but I really fucking hate the way a lot of thin writers write fat characters. Like how men write women "breasting boobily" there is something so dehumanizing about how fat characters are often written. "He waddled", "he lumbered", the writer of the book I'm reading always mentions this characters "fleshy hand" when he does something with his hand. Like, we already know that he's fat. There is no need to describe everything he does as "doing it fatly".

Went into the notes to harvest for my blocklist, found this Nazi. Note how his belief that Jews are racial infiltrators compares and contrasts with the “Jews are White” belief on the Left.
Note that many Algerian Jews fled to France when Algeria decided to purge their Jewish populations. Note also that the population of the Earth was approximately 2.1B in 1933, as compared to 7.2B in 2015.
France looks like a single spot of growth on this map, but even when the global population has quadrupled in the interim, and with near a hundred thousand immigrants from north Africa to bolster their numbers, France’s Jewish population has barely doubled.
This map is even bleaker than it looks.
Having a traumatic childhood means you cannot talk even objectively about your basic foundational experiences without it being "venting", even if you're not actually venting. You just straight up have a huge chunk of your life you can't talk about, full stop, without it being trauma dumping.
And it not being socially acceptable to talk about your own childhood is super alienating. Sometimes people want to know why, and any answer you can give them is going to be off putting.
It's to the point I get irritated when something I said is framed as venting when I'm literally just talking about my life experiences, doing my best to keep emotion out of it.
when I was in high school, I overheard two older students talking about a friend of theirs.
One of them said something like, "it doesn't bother me that [Friend] was in residential mental health treatment, I just wish they wouldn't talk about it ALL the time".
The other replied, "Well, that was all of last year for them. So when they say 'when I was in treatment,' it's like when you say 'last year'."
I try to remember that any time someone says something that sounds Shocking to me. sometimes one person's scary special crisis is another person's last year.
If you want to be accepting of mental illness, you need to accept the fact that some people's everyday lives are going to be terrifying to you. That doesn't mean they don't get to talk about it. Stop forcing hurt, isolated people to become even MORE hurt and isolated because you can't fathom toughening up a bit.

When I was training to be a battered women’s advocate, my supervisor said something that really blew my mind:
“You can always assume one thing about your clients; and that is that they are doing their best. Always assume everyone is doing their best. And if they’re having a day where their best just isn’t that great, or their best doesn’t look like your best, you have to be okay with that.”
Any now whenever anyone in my life, either a friend or a client, frustrates me, disappoints me, or pisses me off, I just tell myself They are doing their best. Their best isn’t that great today, but I have days where my best isn’t that great either.

you know what i just realized is low-key implied by the PHM movie? We know that the various voices Grace has to work with for the TTS of Rocky's translator has to include like famous people who definitely didn't specifically provide voices for TTS, since he does Meryl Streep, right?
And James Ortiz has a cameo at the beginning as the reporter doing the interview with the ArcLight scientist, right?
Rocky's translator voice is compiled from a random TV news journalist that Grace remembered after waking up. Which is... idk, just kind of really funny to me.
