I was not prepared for the height difference.
That said
"I hate how American media will just make up a European nation rather than do any research, so I'm going to get back at them by writing a story set in a fake American state" like, do you have the slightest idea how much American media is set in a geographically impossible fictional small town located in no particular state and characterised entirely by some guy from Los Angeles' collection of half-remembered stereotypes about the American Midwest? They've already got the "lazily inventing fictional parts of America" bit locked down.
No, if you want to play the Uno reverse card on American media, what you need to do isn't to make up a fake state: you specifically need to wilfully misrepresent southern California.
I regret to inform that U.S. media already willfullly misrepresents every state including southern California just because nearly every TV show is now filmed in Canada (specifically Toronto or Vancouver).
At least when shows were filmed in California the state had most of the biomes capable of approximating the general U.S. even if the towns were made up.
Now one has to watch shows set in the U.S. southwest and it is very much a quarry outside of Vancouver.
LIKES TO CHARGE REBLOGS TO CAST
you people aren't CASTING
"I want my media to be historically accurate"
Cool, so you want natural fiber costumes with no/nuanced corset slander, people wearing colors, historical hairstyles, people wearing hats or headcoverings and long sleeves outside during the day, no potatoes or pumpkins in pre-columbian Europe, actors with textured skin and wrinkles, minimal makeup, consulting HEMA groups and weapons scholars for all the weapons and fight scenes, a good soundtrack that includes traditional instruments?
Oh, you mean you want 100% white people. Even in crowd scenes in port cities. There's a different word for that.

As I'm watching Discovery season 2 something I keep seeing is that they consistently put Pike in really gorgeous lighting for almost all of his scenes, at a rate way higher than anyone else in the cast and I find it extremely hilarious. I can't stop noticing it. And you know what, good for them. Good for him. He IS pretty.
Had to finally draw my favorite captain ❤️
This is awesome
I like the idea of a Vulcan character who constantly does very reckless things so her human crewmates think she's strange but then she always has a logical explanation she delivers with absolute confidence.
"No, it was perfectly logical for me to jump out of the shuttle at that time. I had a breathing apparatus, and I was certain I could seal the subspace rift by hand before the Romulans opened fire. This was the only solution that would result in zero casualties. I might have died, but giving up is illogical."
She's known as one of the most fearless members of the crew.
Other Vulcans try not to acknowledge her.
"I eliminated all the threats with ruthless efficiency. To do any less would be illogical."
An absolute menace.
Uh, T'lyn?

While playing with the Star Trek title card generator I remembered that Mariner was canonically stationed on DS9 for a while so I made some DS9 Mariner Episode Titlecards
WAIT did I never tell tumblr about the haunted space waterpark hotel
in January 2018, I spent a couple of days in the town of Hutchinson, Kansas for work. I rolled into town and stopped at what appeared, from the outside, to be a normal motel just off the highway.
it was not.
I should add that I did not see a single other guest the entire time I was there, which intensified the whole vibe.
I love random little hotels like this. I was traveling for work and decided to stay at this smaller "boutique" hotel because it was within walking distance to where I was getting training and was cheap (at the time).
Turns out the owner had these bright fuschia sheep around the property that the staff would move them at night. So every morning I'd wake up and on my way out the door the sheep would be in a different place.
Never saw another guest. Barely saw any staff there except at the front desk. One of the best places i stayed honestly.
