Iroha's Doppel, Giovanna gotta be my favourite Doppel from the anime
For what it's worth, Giovanna is interestingly enough, a witch or a half witch trying to protect her human from the reality of the world, which is actually a first and interesting outlook into the inner world of witchification/despair, considering what she said about how "Iroha was tortured with nightmares of her friends becoming witches", so she trapped Iroha in an utopian dream where they can be magical girls happily without the threat of becoming witches (The loads of grief seeds from one witch killed so no shortages of grief seeds will be a problem) and a world where Ui exists, even as a plushie, and freed of her illness
I now realize how this is quite similar to Homura's witch in the soul gem (chick in the egg) situation which is the main plot of Rebellion, both cases are dream scenarios dressed up to hide the rotting curses beneath, the difference I believe is that Homulilly herself doesn't get much of a personality in the sense that we don't get HER lines on things but more of Homura's lines on things, there's never a scene where Homulilly is shown as a connected but separate entity altogether
Magia Record does play with the trope of "Inner Devil talking to/existing together with pthe real self" with Giovanna/Iroha and Yachiyo/Campanella (Campanella directly converses with her human too)
Magia Record has its issues but it showcases such an interesting aspect of witches or those close to being them, Doppels
I want to chew on this ask for hours bc I love it so much. I love Doppels/Witches and their relationship with their magical girl selves SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!
I really love how Doppels represent radical self-acceptance. You have to make peace with ALL of yourself, even the parts you want to hide, if you want to coexist with and master your Doppel. Otherwise it will consume you.
Rebellion delves into this idea too. Sayaka is shown to have fully integrated with and mastered Oktavia, her Witch self, thanks to being part of the Law of Cycles and undergoing a lot of character development.
It is so ridiculously easy to gain a reputation for being competent by just reading signs.
This is not metaphorical. I mean actual, literal pieces of paper/plastic/metal/whatever explicitly erected to inform the public.
“How did you know this was the right trail?” I read the sign.
“Wow, how did you know what that flower is?” There’s a SIGN.
“How did you know we needed to use the side door?” THERE IS A SIGN POSTED ON THE FRONT DOOR.
Just…why are we having such different experiences of the world? People can read. I KNOW they can read. There’s nothing wrong with their vision.

I love the dramatic irony of Oriko Magica. Oriko, the machiavellian magical girl, wants to kill Madoka in order to prevent her from contracting and turning into the worst Witch of all time... all while Homura is also desperately trying to keep Madoka from contracting but obviously wants her to stay alive.
I feel like Oriko and Homura would be amazing allies if they teamed up to prevent Madoka from contracting, but Oriko is so set in her "murder is the best solution" ways that she can't even see a path forward that doesn't involve killing Madoka. Like girl, just team up with the lesbian who's obsessively devoted to Madoka and I'm positive that you two could have prevented the apocalypse.
That's kind of what I love about Oriko though; she's so incredibly cunning and intelligent, but she also loves doing the most complex, over-the-top shit and is usually quite narrow-minded. She's like physically incapable of not taking the manipulative, usually violent route lmao.
Fun fact: In Japan, a cultivar of yellow orchid was created in the 90s and was named "Happy Valley Sailor Moon."
It's a hybrid flower that was named after Sailor Moon because the botanist who created it, Shigeru Makoto Kono, thought that the flower’s yellow color matched the color of Usagi’s hair. Naoko Takeuchi herself received these flowers and was so happy with them she decided to incorporate them in several artworks (as revealed in the linear notes of Sailor Moon Artbook Volume 5).

would you ever get a sailor moon tattoo?
No, I'm not a tattoo person. My rationale is that I don't think I love anything to the point where I would get it permanently inked onto my body. I know a lot of people don't view it that seriously and may even view their bodies as a canvas (which I think is beautiful), but for me it's just way too much commitment.
That doesn't mean I don't like tattoos! I think they're cool. They're just not for me.
