the school organizers: *had their STEM students, myself included, attend an ever-so-boring virtual meeting for more than an hour*

us: *reluctantly & unfortunately went with the flow*

the school organizers, at some random point in the meeting: *made the meeting a quiz bee to "energize" us & "lighten" our mood using kahoot!*

us: *groaned in utmost pain*

the school organizers: *promised a prize to be given to the top 20 students with the highest scores once the quiz bee concludes*

our consciousness: *suddenly woke up from boredom & actively participated in the kahoot! quiz*

me, on the other hand: *panicked frantically during the entirety of the quiz bee because my kahoot! was malfuntioning, hindering my complete participation*

the school organizers, after the quiz bee: *revealed the list of the top 20 students who will receive prizes without my name in it & shared with us their evaluation forms*

me: *studied my notes and my teacher's powerpoint presentations for the last social science examinations really really hard during the weekend before christmas week*

my one/only/last brain cell: *was drained*

my body & soul: *were dead tired*

my sense of purpose in life: *was confused, was stuck between getting high marks and getting passing marks*

me in general: *was nervous as hell about the items that might come out in the dreaded assessment and about its level of difficulty*

one of the questions (& my "diplomatic" & very well thought-out answer):

my mom: c, please light the candle, but use the lighter this time, okay?

me: *is like on death row, walking to the candle placed on the table*

*sounds of friction occurring with the lighter being repeatedly opened/used can then be heard.*

me: *is sweating nervously*

my hands, especially my right thumb: *are sweating pretty hard, claiming those abs*

my last and/or only brain cell: *is sweating even more profoundly*

*after a few tries and a few clicks, a sigh of relief can finally be heard as the candle now bears a burning flame.*

me, after finally lighting a candle using a lighter successfully for the very first time without burning the entire house:

my mom: c, please open a can of sardines for the cat.

me: *approaches the kitchen counter and gets the can opener and a can of sardines as my hands shiver nervously*

*a few moments pass after i initiated (a/the) surgery on the can.*

me: *sweats profoundly*

*a sigh of relief can be heard after a few more moments as the lid of the can opens beautifully, like a piece of art.*

me, after finally opening a can of sardines successfully for the very first time without violently killing it:
