so anyway
Dear Mr. Gaiman, Please explain one moment in the Good Omens, when Aziraphale was imprisoned during the French Revolution, why he could not free himself from the chains? Why did Crowley do it? Is Aziraphale that vulnerable?
Not at all.
He could have miracled away the paint-gun stains too, if he'd wanted to. But you saw the expression on Aziraphale's face when Crowley turned up in the prison cell, and when Crowley vanished the paint-stains. It was the happiest he had been in ages.
But why did he say, "oh, good Lord"?HAHSHAHSHSHSHHSS. Was it the way Crowley sat or his outfit?
Well, it wouldn't do to make Crowley think he was too excited to see him, would it?
Hey! I was planning on watching good omens, but some people were calling queerbait on it. I honestly donβt care if it is or not, but whatβs your opinion on the show?
Is it queerbaiting to have multiple characters who are explicitly non-binary? Is it queerbaiting to have a character occupy the bodies of both a man and a woman, and have their friend remark only positively to the change of outfit? Is it queerbaiting to have another actor play his character as both a woman and a man over time, and have no other characters bat an eye, and have the show take this example of A Man In A Dress completely seriously, without any trace of mockery? Is it queerbaiting for that actor's wardrobe to be outfitted with elements of woman's clothing even while the character is presenting "male"?
Is it queerbaiting to have a pair of characters who are dealing with the fallout and continuing threats of a complete rejection from their families for not complying with a set of rules they cannot personally abide by for reasons of both personality and choice? Is it queerbaiting to explore someone coping with that rejection, or someone realizing they can handle that rejection when they have something else worth fighting for?
Is it queerbaiting to have a pair of torn, complex characters who are On Watch for the simple act of associating with each other? Is it queerbaiting for these two to be at once hesitant and desperate to call each other their friend? Is it queerbaiting for their happy ending to be the two of them out to an extremely fancy dinner, in public, while a love song plays?
Do the characters played by David Tennant and Michael Sheen(&Miranda Richardson) kiss?
The answer to all of these questions is No, but it's that last one that people trip over when they fail to deploy any critical thinking. Or, frankly, observation skills. Queerness of gender aside, it's also ignoring, y'know, nonsexual forms of intimacy. As a gay asexual, I have to say I would love a happy ending out to an extremely fancy dinner, in public, while a love song plays, and my long term companion fondly watches me tuck in.
But apparently two characters who are immensely queer in gender, gender presentation, and their relation to Christianity/conservative families, finally being able to comfortably meet each other in the middle with undisguised affection and without fear, cannot be anything but "queerbaiting" because they don't kiss. Fuck that. Even if you view it only as friendship (which I personally don't), queer friendship is still revolutionary, especially up front and center.
I will need a moment

Quiet nightsβ¦
Happy Valentine's Day!
i have recently learned about white lipped pythons, and now you shall too!
natureβs holographic editions!
they are good & excellent spaghetti hatchlingsΒ
You got you a whole ass holographic python but people decided βHEY THEY HAVE WHITE LIPS LOLOLOβ and wanted to name it after that?
Part 2 of my gift in the 2018 Good Omens Holiday Exchange forΒ @sous-le-saule! Prompt was: crossovers withΒ βthe Good Placeβ, which I already wanted to make after watching the show!
the J stands for a name crowley doesnβt know yet maybe. a name he is kind of waiting to give himself. itβs a recognition that he could be someone else, if things were different, but also a recognition that he is already that person, a little bit. that he is his own person. itβs important to remember that crowley doesnβt actually mind being a demon - itβs the destruction of the earth bit that heβs got a problem with. itβs just all a bit bureaucratic, innit? and heβd be someone else a bit if he werenβt in the system, you know? heβs been working on it - this is why he is anthony crowley at all, and not still crawley - but the J is a name he doesnβt know yet. heβs waiting to discover it.Β
he spends the whole first summer in the cottage at the south downs trying out new ones.Β βanthony jonathanβ he says one morning, coming down the stairs.
βwhatβs that, darling?β aziraphale calls.
βnothing,β he says.Β βwasnβt quite right.βΒ
*
βanthony jeremiah crowley,β he says, while replanting an azalea bush. the bush tries to bloom in response, but doesnβt manage it convincingly.Β βno, youβre right,β crowley says.Β βthatβs not it either.
*
βanthony jane crowley,β he says, while stirring the white wine into what is going to be a very good mushroom risotto in about an hour.Β
βjane who?β aziraphale says absently, having not really heard him, without looking up from his book at the table.
*
john. julian. jessica. jude. january. jersey. janice. joyce. joplin. juniper.Β
no, no, no.
*
βhas it occurred to you,β aziraphale says one night, when theyβre tucked up in bed together, βthat instead of trying on all these new names, you might just, wellβwait for it? whatβs the rush, anyway?β
crowley shifts to look at him from across the pillows.Β βhow did you know i was looking for a new name?β he hadnβt told aziraphaleβnot that he didnβt want aziraphale to know, really, but just that it was something he felt like he had to sort out on his own.Β
βbit obvious,β aziraphale says.Β βyou left nameberry.com up on your phone the other day when you handed it to me so i could look up that picture of the dog we saw on the way home.βΒ
βah.β
βah.βΒ
aziraphale rolls over, putting a hand on crowelyβs chest.Β βitβs all right if it takes a little time, you know,β he says.
βtaken me six thousand years to figure this one out,β crowley points out, a little despondently.Β
aziraphale shrugs.Β βtook me six thousand years to say i was in love with you,β he responds.Β βtook me six thousand years to realise heaven and hell werenβt all that different. six thousand years to realise you loved me back. some things justβ¦take time to figure out. itβs all right.βΒ
crowley sighs, but he knows aziraphaleβs right.Β βi just want to know all of myself already,β he says, scooting over into aziraphaleβs hold.Β βi want to know everything i can be.βΒ
βoh, my love,β aziraphale says, breathing into his hair.Β βi donβt think we ever know all of that about ourselves.βΒ
*
he finds the name in december.
itβs a good month for name-finding. the end of something, the beginning of another. a goodbye and a remembrance, but also a facing forward into the future.Β
theyβre dancing in the kitchen, and aziraphale is singing along to la vie en roseΒ on the radio; theyβre laughing, and the light is low but the oven is warm where theyβre just waiting for a coq au vin to finish up.Β
il me l'a dit, l'a jure pour la vie, aziraphale sings, in a very bad french accent, pink-cheeked and beautiful, and crowley kisses the next line out of his mouth.
βje tβaime,β he tells aziraphale, as the song ends, and then he thinks, oh.Β
βje tβaime aussi,βΒ aziraphale returns awkwardly, and then he catches crowleyβs look.Β βwhat?β he asks.Β
βjβaime,β he says. βi love. jβaime.βΒ
aziraphaleβs cheeks turn a little pinker.Β βdo you think so? but in french?β
βi like french,β crowley shrugs.Β βdo you remember the bastille? that was when i first thought, maybe, you know? maybe you too. when was that, 1793? 1791?β
βhavenβt the faintest,β aziraphale says.Β βitβs a very you thing, though. full of love, but secretly, only if one knows where to look. in english itβll get pronounced as jaime. jay-me.βΒ
βanthony jaime crowley,β he tries out. βthatβs not bad, actually.β
βoh, do you like that as well?β
βi think i do,β crowley says.Β βanthony jaime crowley. and only you would know the real truth. only you and i would know jβaime, angel. it would be mine, butβit would be ours, a little bit. and thatβs me, i thinkβmy own, but yours too, a little bit.βΒ
aziraphale is grinning a bit madly, and he holds crowley that much closer. βa secret middle name. how dashing of you. how entirely debonair.βΒ
βi could go with james, if you like.β he puts on a ridiculous, affected accent, missing pierce brosnan by a mile and ending up somewhere closer to roger moore. βcrowley, james crowley.β
βno,β aziraphale laughs.Β βno, i think i quite like jaime. anthony jaime crowley.β the radio starts playing la vie en roseΒ again, just because aziraphale wants it to, and he holds crowley close, cheek to cheek.Β βis this the one, darling?β
βyeah,β crowley says.Β βfor now, this is the one.βΒ

Iβm very very very tempted to draw a comic with these two dressed like THIS!

I want you all to look at the opener of the 1990 Kirkus Media review for Good Omens.

This is a little older, something pver a month perhaps? It's based on this text post by @notthebestomens ! I couldn't find the original post, this screenshot will have to do;;;
Just something small and silly because I wanted to practice drawing something more chibi-like. It's really hard for me to draw for some reason hhh;;
