sometimes I forget I've got an honest-to-god medically significant anxiety disorder and have to remind myself, oh, right, I do not have a prophet's intuition for incoming doom, I have to go to work, then eat, and then sleep afterwards
the problem with learning to cope with anxiety and becoming an adult who simply handles it is that it's a bit harder to interrogate "I am passively aware death is coming and bravely facing it" than it is to interrogate "for some reason I have to run or die" and, instead of asking whether things are actually that bad, you end up just passively comfortable with facing death
which, to be clear, is not actually on the table
