god i can't stop thinking about the odyssey. there were so many perfect moments. the twist that's not really a twist but which made me cry, the interweaving of three lines of plot, the nods to oral history as mixed with most-current understandings of ancient history, the spectacle, the action, the fucking costumes were actually perfection. it felt so real and cohesive both aesthetically, historically, and mythologically and it's something i care about so deeply. and then there's the SOUND DESIGN, the music, the action, all the raw stuff that makes a good movie. zendaya's dual casting reveal. lupita. agamemnon. whatever the fuck antinous had going on. just felt like such a lived in world and modern to itself in a way you almost never see in historical fiction. and it respects the audience. there's not really any hand holding about the history, the mythology, classic literature, regional knowledge. it's been so long since i felt like a film wasn't doing baby hours. mmmm mmm i can't wait to see it again in 70 mm. annnnyway i think it's worth watching!

odyssey was fucking incredible by the way

kittens went to live at their new home with my dad and i DID cry but they will be so happy and my dad will be so happy. however i do feel chagrined as a hardened warrior to be crying over saying goodbye to two little kittens i've had for 1.5 days.
