Hey, this is important and I'm gonna use up spoons I maybe shouldn't to spread awareness of this because it's that important! There is a wide-reaching heat dome expected over the next 3-5 days (as of 6/20/2025). Especially if you and your loved ones are immunocompromised, elderly, pregnant, or disabled, take precautions to stay safe. Stay inside with the AC on as much as you can. If you don't have AC, look now for a library, cooling center, or another community space that has it where you can spend as much time as possible in over the next several days. If you do have to be outside, limit your time outside, hydrate well with electrolytes, wear sunscreen and reapply it as needed, and wear loose fitting and light colored clothing so it doesn't absorb as much heat. Check on your friends and loved ones, especially those who are at high risk. Familiarize yourself with the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke and what to do about them.
Also, Dr. Rubin (and his wife, who's really cool and smart too) is on multiple platforms, including Instagram and Substack spreading awareness of health issues and what's going on with public health in the US. I've found them both to be good sources of reliable information in an accessible manner.
