I think it's really funny the way pop sci publications will put so much shock value towards "WORLD'S DEADLIEST ANIMALS" when they really mean "deadly to humans specifically"
Black mamba and chimpanzee ain't got shit on our humble friend the anteater, who has ended 500 lives just for breakfast and is coming back for seconds
We talk about big deadly grazers like anteaters and whales but I feel like insectivorous bats deserve some extra respect for not only chowing down on 6000-10,000 lives per night, but for also Actively Hunting them (often while also schlepping halfway across a continent on migration), instead of just sticking their schozz in their food's house. Like I get why- efficiency is the greatest virtue of any predator- but it think there's an element of horror to how stunningly efficient bats are that they can hunt and kill thousands of lives per night as like, a side activity to a road trip.

back from the hospital
only reason im telling you this is because on the wristband they gave me they had a pronouns section but instead of just putting down my pronouns there was a barcode you could scan
its just a very funny visual. probably real as fuck for some of you
don't leave that in the tags
ok. icebreaker-type question. imagine time travel exists, but all of the serious super big things that likely come to mind when time travel is a factor is stuff youre not “qualified” for, as a civilian. what stupid, petty, thing do you use time travel for?
personally, i’d buy this one limited-time pin from a con i had no chance of going to, and also buy some transformers animated toys while they were still being sold.
Girl this is the best thing I've read today
This is the best idea. Little Félicette would live with me.
when i was a tiny baby queer (aka a 24-year-old), i went to my first pride festival probably three months after i kicked ex-gay therapy to the curb and came out to my parents. being the people they are, my parents came with me. they weren’t really sure about this whole gay thing, but they loved me and wanted me to be safe and happy and wanted to be involved in what was important to me, so they came along. (i also think my mother still might have thought i might get drugged or murdered or beaten by a protester of which there were plenty.)
anyway i wanted a memento of my first pride, you know, and this one vendor was selling keyrings, and i liked it, so i bought one. do you remember those italian charm bracelets that were all the rage like 10-15 years ago? it was a keychain like that, and it had a rainbow rooster, a rainbow cat, and then just a rainbow, and so I bought it.
i run into my mom a couple of vendors over and she goes oh you bought something? what’d you get? so i showed her, and i was like, “I’m not sure why it’s a rooster and a cat. Seems kind of random. But I liked the rainbows.”
and my mom, who was some form of minister’s wife for most of my childhood and teenagerhood, stares at me like she thinks i’m joking.
“What?” i say.
“…it’s a cock and a pussy, Jules,” she says flatly, and that is the story of how i died at the age of 24 while attending my first pride festival.
I love how every June this one gets dug up and passed around again, lmao.
I help my younger sibling vend at Pride and we sell buttons. There’s a pair that are “I ❤ 🐓” and “I ❤️ 🐈”. One day, a middle aged woman comes up to our booth and gets very excited about the “I ❤️ 🐓” pin, which we gladly sell to her. 15 minutes later, she returns, shamefaced and says, “oh my god, I the world’s dumbest lesbian, I just- I have nine chickens.”
We gave her a complimentary pussy pin on the house.
When we went to Swansea Pride this year my bisexual friend brought her new poodle/bichon puppy along. She wanted to get said puppy a bandana or something, so when we got to one stall, she got super excited when she saw they had these blue and black flags with a cute little dog bone on the front :) :) :)
I’ve never moved so fast in my life
fireflies lighting up a rural Pennsylvania field at dusk
As a european i sometimes forget furefkied are actually real and not american folklore/cryptids. Like you’ve got friendly little bugs that glow in the dark….. b r uh
in case europeans were worried: we love them very much! even tho they’re clumsy and slow and sometimes bump into you, no one swats fireflies here, or takes them for granted. even grownups sometimes reach out in the summer and gently catch a firefly for a minute before letting it go.
By “reach out” that’s meant quite literally–you just kinda. Stick your hand in their flight path and they land on you and will sit on your hand for a bit. Sometimes if you’re just walking or standing outside while they’re active you have to shoo them off you because they’ll just. Sit on you.
They’re harmless and very pretty and it’s always a treat to see because they’re out for a relatively short time each year.
But there are fireflies in Europe. Or glow worms I guess. I've seen them in Italy. But they didn't blink like this madness, and not as bright if I remember correctly, they just steadily glowed.
I would love to see this field of strobes though.

end permian mass extinction...at least we don't have to deal with "Lava sea the size of Saudi Arabia"
And 2,800 ppm carbon dioxide in atmosphere. And sulfuric acid rain. And severe mercury poisoning from volcanic material.
Poor creatures...so much pain in the world
@imnotsexuallyattractedtocars peer reviewed commentary
The one that gets me personally is
We cannot say much about this for sure. It is at the very limits of what we can learn about and infer. But prior to the Earth being “the oxygen planet” we know that it was home to life, and that its native microbes metabolised lots of fascinating compounds and had a rich culture (ha!).
When the Cyanobacteria gained a foothold and started pumping out oxygen as a byproduct of their metabolic processes, they changed the game. They weren’t the only thing that changed the atmosphere, but they were one of the things that opened up a crack, exploited it, and can be observed today: one of the few things we can follow back to this time-before-fossils. Cyanobacteria were part culprit, part prophet. The oxygenated atmosphere opened up new opportunities for the ancestors of modern plants and animals - the Eukaryotes, the domain of Fortunate Cellular Nuclei, who evolved specifically in adaptation to the Oxygen Planet. Some theories, which may or may not be true, circle around the idea that the extraordinarily complex cellular structure of eukaryotes is because various unrelated organisms came together under one cellular mantle to protect them from oxygen, and their symbiosis led to them becoming one “organism.” We know that our mitochondria have different DNA, and that their processes are different from ours; we expect (we cannot know) that they possibly came under the cellular roof to shelter from the apocalypse of oxygen. The nuclei, also, who are so Fortunate, may have been someone else first.
Pretty much every statement I’ve made there has several question marks and a long string of competing citations behind it. There is a lot we cannot know.
There are some things we can know: All of our works and kinships we owe to oxygen. This was not always a planet of oxygen. There was an abundance of life before it. We can find remnants of the other forms today. We can find cousins of the old life-forms in remote places. Fields such as astrobiology look to Antarctica or thermal vents for microorganisms that eat iron or live on acid.
I just like to think about it and the different stories you can make from it.
There was a terrible change and everything died except these small remnants. There are no other planets like ours now.
When the oxygen came it was poison to us. something came after us. But it was not us.
There was once a terrible catastrophe at the very edge of imagination, at the very limits of what we can find out, and the sky changed: so our family held each other and hid for so long that we became Fortunate.
It just gets me! The oxygen extinction!!!!!!!!
You're just a mammal. Let yourself act like it. Your brain needs enrichment. Your body needs rest. You feel hunger and grow hair. You need to pack bond with other sentient things so you don't become unsocialized and neurotic. You are biologically inclined to seek dopamine and become sick when chronically stressed. "Hedonism" is made up to place moral value on taking pleasure in sensory experiences. I am telling you that if you don't let yourself be a fucking mammal, as you were made, you will suffer and go insane. No grindset no diets no trying to be above your drive for connection. Pursue what makes you feel good and practice radial rejection of the constructs meant to turn you into a machine. You're a mammal.
I am so serious about the way people are taught to view themselves as separate from and above any other animal being the root cause of a lot of problems. You're not better than a beast.
"there are only two sexes, it's literally third grade biology!" and pronouns are taught in kindergarten and you dont seem to understand those either
ok its literally this
this is why, when someone tells me "there are only two sexes, it's basic biology!" my favorite response is to ask "what, you never made it to advanced biology?" like don't load the gun and then hand it to me lmao
you. yes. you get it
happy pride month to country mama lynn and country mama lynn only
Someone give this woman a damn crown and medal
Happy pride month to country mama lynn and ger gay son only
aint it crazy how many people realize they're queer when they have the language to express how they feel and a support system to encourage self exploration????
I never stop enjoying reading this. Literally everyone's lives improves.
Ancient legends say that if you reblog this on June you get 110% gayer and stronger
right at the beginning when she's like how do I help my son feel loved and accepted I'm here shouting "QUEEN YOU ALREADY DID THAT BY TAKING HIS SIDE AND LEAVING THAT NO GOOD HUSBAND FOR HAVING THE AUDACITY TO KICK YOUR BABY OUT!" And Good for her! this is the only response to a man who kicks out a child.
Happy Pride!

the moon is a lesbian and she hates terfs
the moon told me personally that she thinks you’re obnoxious and hopes you never get a girlfriend
I have a theory that the moon IS a trans woman cause she’s always associated with feminine things but when we saw the craters that look like a face we called it “The Man In The Moon”. She’s a woman with a face that people may perceive as male. She’s a beautiful trans woman
the moon is a beautiful trans woman who hates terfs and shows her face every night to remind other trans women they are beautiful and strong and loved and important and wonderful and that terfs and their opinions dont matter
I wanna add to this if it’s ok?? In Hindu mythology, Chandra, the moon, was originally thought of as a male deity. However, as time went on, symbolism involving the moon and the name “Chandra” itself became identified with femininity, with beautiful girls being described as having “moon-like faces,” with their dark, long hair reminding lovers of the midnight sky, and names like “Nilaa” (”moon” in Tamil) and “Indu” (in Sanskrit) are now pretty much now completely girl names!
AlsO Chandra is married to 27 wives, who are all stars. The moon is a trans lesbian and is gay for all the stars in the sky.
Reblog if you’re gay for the trans lesbian poly moon who supports all woman.
Today in niche genres of joke that I can never get enough of and will probably still be secretly thinking about four years later
