Point 1 - Chiron sucks, who cares

Look, I’m not calling Chiron incompetent. 

I am, however, going to be pointing out that archery is the one class we know for sure Chiron is teaching Percy at camp, and he has failed at improving his abilities with a bow and an arrow in any way, shape, or form, as far as we know.

There, that’s a pretty neutral statement. No character bashing in this post.

It’s also important to notice that while Percy is really, REALLY bad at it, there's no canon indication of him having been cursed to never be able to learn archery, nor has any character (including Poseidon and Apollo, who might know more about that) ever stated that Poseidon’s kids are predisposed to be bad at it. If it’s not stated or hinted at in the narrative, then these explanations aren't valid, and considering both Apollo and Artemis really like him, it’s pretty safe to say that Percy being bad at archery is a matter of skill, which can be improved through practice, even if he never becomes a "great" or "really good" archer. Being able to make at least one good shot at a reasonable distance, though, could be life-saving for him, as proven by his fight against Geryon in The Battle of the Labyrinth.

Chiron just might not be the best teacher for his specific needs. Which is also the conclusion Apollo gets to! So great that he agrees with me <3 

Point 2 - Apollo: "I can teach him better than you can" 

Trying really hard not to start this by making a reference to "It's rotten work"/"Not to me, not if it's you".... aaaand failing.

But this isn't really the point I wanna make.

They have a Global Device Identifier (GDID) Tracker that functions as a fingerprint for your PC that can surpass VPNs, proxy servers and countries. Although it can't survive a clean reinstall of Windows (it can survive updates), because Microsoft forces you to go to the internet and log in into a Microsoft account, they will be able to get to you.

Microsoft kept it secret and it was only found out when the FBI tracked a hacker thanks to the information Microsoft gave them.

You should be paying attention to this, and possibly consider moving away from Windows. If a government, especially the US government, doesn't like you for some reason, this could be seriously concerning.

This article specifically notes:

For journalism, activism, or domestic abuse situations, skip Windows and use Linux routed through Tor instead of a commercial VPN. A GDID doesn’t care which VPN you use, only that it’s still the same Windows installation.

Other important quotes:

What has researchers uneasy is everything else the case reveals. Costin Raiu, a well-known malware researcher, asked on the Three Buddy Problem podcast how much of this exists on other platforms, and whether it is linked more permanently to hardware. Matthew Hickey, another security researcher, called Windows “surveillance software”.

Two things back that up:

There’s no consent screen. A GDID gets assigned when you sign into a Microsoft Account. Apple’s advertising identifier needs an App Tracking Transparency prompt and a visible reset; Android’s works the same way. GDID has neither, and a Windows reinstall only gets you a new number Microsoft can still get back to the same account.

Then there’s activation. Massgrave, the group behind Microsoft Activation Scripts, notes that Windows setup sends hardware info to Microsoft and gets identifiers back, the same tokens later used for Store access and licensing: “It’s impossible to prevent Windows from getting a GDID without breaking activation and UWP app[s].” Anyone who lost a license after swapping a motherboard has already met a smaller version of this.

My current job has me working with children, which is kind of a weird shock after years in environments where a “young” patient is 40 years old.  Here’s my impressions so far:

Birth - 1 year: Essentially a small cute animal.  Handle accordingly; gently and affectionately, but relying heavily on the caregivers and with no real expectation of cooperation.

Age 1 - 2: Hates you.  Hates you so much.  You can smile, you can coo, you can attempt to soothe; they hate you anyway, because you’re a stranger and you’re scary and you’re touching them.  There’s no winning this so just get it over with as quickly and non-traumatically as possible.

Age 3 - 5: Nervous around medical things, but possible to soothe.  Easily upset, but also easily distracted from the thing that upset them.  Smartphone cartoons and “who wants a sticker?!!?!?” are key management techniques.

Age 6 - 10: Really cool, actually.  I did not realize kids were this cool.  Around this age they tend to be fairly outgoing, and super curious and eager to learn.  Absolutely do not babytalk; instead, flatter them with how grown-up they are, teach them some Fun Gross Medical Facts, and introduce potentially frightening experiences with “hey, you want to see something really cool?”

Age 11 - 14: Extremely variable.  Can be very childish or very mature, or rapidly switch from one mode to the other.  At this point you can almost treat them as an adult, just… a really sensitive and unpredictable adult.  Do not, under any circumstances, offer stickers.  (But they might grab one out of the bin anyway.)

Early Cassie (Wonder Woman (1987) #105-136, Secret Origins 80-Page Giant (1998) #1) is very headstrong and foolhardy. She's clever, bold, and resourceful, but acts oblivious to danger, rarely considers consequences, and treats superheroics like a game or adventure. To her, being a superhero is a lark, whooping bad guy butt is fun, danger is cool, and she knows better than the adults who are freaking out over nothing. She has a bit of a childish ego, insisting that Wonder Woman "needs [her]" and exaggerating her own contributions when retelling events. She's immature; the quintessential teen convinced of her own invincibility.

By the time she joins Young Justice, however, that childish confidence has been torn away. She's not as outspoken; she doubts her abilities, fears disappointing the people she cares about, and is scared of tarnishing the Wonder Girl name. She's still earnest and enthusiastic about being a hero, still an excited kid who enjoys going on adventures with her new friends, but she seems to understand that being a part of this legacy is a responsibility, and it may be one she's not cut out for. Being Wonder Girl is something she has to earn. 

I think these changes come from a combination of a few events. First, Donna gives Cassie her old Wonder Girl uniform in WW#136. It's a clear blessing, but it also serves to remind Cassie that she's not the only one the name Wonder Girl belongs to. This role is bigger than Cassie. Second, Artemis is officially charged with Cassie's training in WW#140. Artemis is a fair but tough taskmaster, and she's seen a lot of the world's horrors -- she won't beat around the bush about what Cassie will face as a hero. Thirdly, in WW#142, Diana bluntly tells Cassie that she isn't ready. That she is unfocused, and needs to learn to be better. The world is watching, and Diana's enemies have shown they will hurt anyone close to her.

Diana's words come after a massive attack on Gateway City, which was targeted just because Diana was living there. Diana is leaving because of it. That is why I think her words get through to Cassie when before she often brushed off the adults' concerns. Cassie promises to try, acknowledging how big the responsibility is. 

On top of all that, Young Justice is Cassie's first time working with her superhero peers. Cassie is used to standing up for herself and her right to be a hero when it comes to Diana, her mother, or other adults, but there’s a different kind of pressure involved in being around and measuring herself against kids her own age. Robin, Superboy, and Impulse are all well established heroes. Arrowette is less known, but has years of superhero training under her belt. Cassie is brand new to the hero scene, and the difference in experience is obvious from her first appearance in YJ#4. It probably doesn't help that Cassie makes the wrong call with full surety in the second incident they handle as a team, in YJ#5.
