the mass integration and normalization of ai and specifically ai summaries and the related conversation about reading comprehension and critical thinking skills has actually had an interesting counter effect on me, in that now whenever i see a big block of text and my (adhd) instinct to skim it kicks in, my brain instead goes "no! that's just what they WANT you to do. that's how you get got!" and i force myself to take the time to read it thoroughly

Everyone talks about the joys of someone else being super invested in your OCs and while this undoubtedly feels absolutely awesome, I think there's also something to be said about the joy of being invested in someone else's OCs too. There's just vibes you get out of some people's casts of characters that you can't get anywhere else with their own unique flavor from that person, and they're just sitting there in relative obscurity spawned completely out of someone's mind with no media involvement or anything. Special kind of feeling

You gotta be really publicly passionate about things if you want your friends to text you. Bc people will forget to text you because they’re human. But if you’re really openly the friend who loves identifying ants your friends will think of you when they see ants. And they’ll text you “what ant is this [blurry photo]”. And then they’ll ask you how you’ve been and we should get coffee sometime. But if they don’t know what you love they’ll never know what you like

And then when the ant convention is in town they’ll be like dude… we should go to the ant convention. But they would never think to go if they didn’t know u loved ants

And sometimes you need to ask them to go to the ant convention. But you Will not get anywhere hiding your passions

deriding things as performative is anti third space

im sitting on a patio at my favorite cafe rn and im hand stitching them hem of a dress im working on. and i can see why someone would say im being performative by working on something like this in a public space. but frankly theres no element of that. i just want to work somewhere that isnt my apartment. i want to be in public, i wanna chat with strangers, i wanna see the world. it’s nice to hang out somewhere that isnt my home!

the thing they don't prepare you for in adulthood is the sheer amount of granola you're going to find yourself enticed to consume. especially if theres yogurt and fruit involved. i could be like oh i'm not hungry right now but if i see that parfait with some honey granola maybe some craisins in it im immediately like. yeah i could eat that

Children’s sad beige room but the rest of the house is very colorful and eclectic. That’e just the kind of thing the kid likes and their parents respect that
