The idea that the youth shouldn’t be political because they don’t know what they’re talking about is a way to belittle and disregard any valid opinions the youth may have and to suppress their voices for the next few years so that they won’t have to listen to the youth. The older generations don’t have a monopoly on politics, nor do they understand the issues facing the youth of today because they’re not living the same experience as us. Just because you’re young doesn’t mean you can’t know about something and even if you don’t then there’s no better way to learn than becoming passionate about it so fuck the older generation. The youth can be powerful. The youth can be informed. The youth can and should be political.
