I don't know if people notice, but i sometimes draw Mav with an eyebrow slit. It's not because he thinks its fashionable or anything, its from an accident he was in where he got a nasty deep cut across his brow. Some debris tried to take his eye out but just missed its mark. The cut scarred over and the hair never grew back.

The first drawing is of that accident (the world needs more bloodied Mav). The second is when Ice first got to him in hospital. And the third is when they got home and Ice managed to actually get Mav to rest instead of bouncing off the walls like he usually would.

Don't get to know the relationship between David Mason and Alex Mason merely by Black Ops 7.

Black Ops 7's scriptwriter has a very poor understanding about the original settings, emotional base or character development of Black Ops 2. I can't even say it isn't ai generated. Nearly every old character in Black Ops 2 has different levels of OOC in Black Ops 7.

vc was a lot more straightforward and took much less time*, but still a ton of fun!

*(~40 hrs for 100% on re8 not counting the dlc, another ~15 hours for the dlc bc i had an abandoned attempt when it originally launched; 29 hrs total for all the vc achievements)

nocturnal on june 23 -- this was free recently in celebration of the upcoming release of nocturnal 2, but i bought the game back when it released in fall 2023, and got 10/11 achievements then. it's very short, taking only about 3 hours for me to finish, with another hour and a half dedicated to recalling the gameplay mechanics and fooling around a little, but the result of this brevity is a game with very tight, intentional design and showcasing of its mechanics. it's visually and aurally gorgeous, and i would totally play it again. (i probably will, because i want to make a dedicated review for this game.) i'll be playing nocturnal 2 when it comes out for sure!

and finally, finally, on june 24, titanfall 2!

this is one of my favorite games, which i played all the way through on that fateful free weekend in 2021 (before northstar even existed, when the official servers were mostly untainted... halcyon days?). i credit it with planting the mecha sprout in my mind, or maybe germinating the seed planted by pacific rim, and mecha media that i didn't really get into as a kid, but was vaguely aware of (transformers)

i've come back to it twice, beating it on hard in 2023 and then veteran difficulty this month, but i took a break for a bit as i was struggling with the last achievement i needed, the notorious gauntlet achievement. it was simultaneously both comically nightmarish and infuriatingly simple, in the end -- i had a couple fluke runs with nearly a low enough time but struggled to replicate them for a while, tilted after a good session when i realized i'd loaded in with frag grenades instead of arc and hadn't noticed for several attempts, and in the end i got the bare minimum score, beating the requirement by 0.10 seconds

this concludes this post in my achievement hunting thread!

also, with steam next fest on, i've been queueing up some demos. i've played exactly one (1) so far and it was weird as fuck but had potential.
