I see some people in the notes saying stuff like “you don’t need to like the exact same things as your partner!” and like, if you don’t already know the difference between “respecting your partner’s interests even though you don’t share them” and “being a condescending asshole” then I’m not going to try to translate it into clown honks for you in the vain hope that you’ll understand it better

This is toxic. You don’t have to like the same things. You don’t even have to want to be interested in everything your partner is interested in or even polite endure every last thing they are interested in day-in and day-out but relationships are not supposed to be 100% the same things 24/7, there’s no way for you both to love every last thing the other does but that is where compromise and respect comes in. Take turns in what you watch, include something you both like, then something you like, then something they like and repeat. Don’t do this shit and stop dating people who clearly you have no time or respect for.

Abuse begins with insecurity

My ex wouldn’t even accept a ride from my friend who offered to drive us home in the pouring Orlando rain and instead forced us to walk 12 minutes in the rain, soaking my only pair of work shoes and giving me a cold. FUCKING RED FLAGS
