Boycotting Bookish Stuff.
Aside from just being all around terrible. Esp with customer service and negative reviews. I learned something today. If you remember sospgate she’s the company that sent out dick shaped soap and sold xrated Fan Fiction. Now when all this happened a few authors on Twitter were very pissed. Mainly with the Intellectual property issues with the fan fic. Plus they didnt want their brand associated with dick soap. I personally said this could have major repercussions for box companies in the future.
2 specific authors with the same agent now are requiring a licensing agreement. These are huge authors with 2 highly anticipated releases coming in January. What does that mean?? It means that every fandom related item included in the boxes must be approved by them. Not that big of a deal until you get to the fine print. They require 4 of said item. So if a box is doing say a mug. They get 4 mugs prior to the box and if they dont like it? Well thats a loss of x amount of dollars to the box company. Say they purchase in bulk. Item not approved. Out all that money also. See where this is going? If other authots follow siut this could shut down alot of companies.
But heres why Im frustrated with Bookish Stuff . Shes not gonna suffer any of these repercussions. Why? Because shes not doing those boxes (smart , but still) . Now some boxes have been planning these special editions for a while so they are pretty much screwed. All of this info literally happend days ago.
But heres another thing that grates me. Bookish Stuff is doing a Queen of Air and Darkness box. On her IG post a customer orderd a bundle to combine shipping on her 3, (3!!!!!) boxes. Now all these boxes include a Stele, the customer asked if she would get all 3 and the answer is No. Yup No. Only gets all 3 if she orders her boxes separately and spends more money.
Imo Yaria is just a terrible business person and a human being. So I will be boycotting Bookish Stuff. I will not support such an asshole.
