since i was a little girl, i dreamed that i'll grow up and get education and then i'll become a part of doctors without borders, because i believed that it's one of the kindest organisations ever. can you blame me? i was just a kid who didn't understand the rampant misogyny and hate towards women that surrounded and shaped me.
now, as a grown up, i see articles about men in doctors without borders raping sudanese women who come for help, and besides my heart breaking for them, i understand one thing – we, women in countries that are in a better state, don't deserve one right only, and it's the right to give up. if we give up on tearing the crumbs we're halfway given from hands of men, what's left for the women who don't even see those crumbs being waved in their faces? if we don't stand up and aim to fill more of male-dominated spaces, all women of the world will be left in hands of an oppressor that doesn't have mercy and views us in our worst as a prey. go get that job, go get your diploma, and don't listen to people saying women aiming to work and get higher positions is capitalistic. they don't wish good for the world, they wish for you to stay away so their access tp other women is easier.
