As she continued to lay wondering, the stone door on the left side of the room slowly opened and a tall, figure swept into the room.

“……….Malfoy?” Harriet blinked in disbelief.

He stood in front of her young, handsome, heartbroken, and dangerous.

Draco met her hypnotizing stare with his own frigid scowl as he scanned over her, crossed his arms, and replied with his own cruel smirk, “I told you, Potter……you’re mine now.”

Harriet scoffed as she wadded the letter up and tossed it into the rubbish bin.

As if that entitled, haughty bastard hadn’t had the audacity to seduce her, now he wanted her to take the blame?

Harriet grinned as she imagined the look on Draco’s face.

Served him right, for all of his cheekiness and poison he had dealt her and her friends over the years.

In fact, she thought perhaps she’d visit his father at a time when he could walk in and-

Harriet cleared her throat as she pushed those thoughts out of her mind.

A hero?

Or some sort of villain?

“Calm down….” She heard George hiss as he turned to his brother, “I already told you she’ll say yes.”

“Say yes to what?” Harriet frowned.

Fred glowered at her. Behind her glasses, Harriet’s eyes widened as she still didn’t understand how badly he wanted to kiss her pouty lips.

“We’re leaving soon, Harriet.” George revealed as he turned back to her.

“Leaving?……..What, Hogwarts?!” She gasped.

“Yeah.” George said, “Got our own shop opening up, a lease and everything…..selling joke supplies, toys, candies, you name it.”

“Well…….” Harriet frowned in disappointment before she put on a smile, glad to be happy for them, “I wish you’d stay but congrats! You two will be brilliant together.”

“That’s just it.” Fred snapped.

“We don’t want to be brilliant together……by ourselves.” George finished.

Harriet blinked, “What do you mean?”

“We were hoping, once school and Voldemort and all that….” George began.

“-Is finished.” Fred cut in.

“Is finished.” George nodded, “That you’d come and be with us.”

“Oh……” Harriet blinked, “To work in the shop?”

“No.” Fred growled, “To marry us….”

“And stay in our bed….” George added.

“And have our babies…..” Fred smirked.

“And never leave.” George nodded.

From the first moment Harriet Potter had seen Severus Snape she had felt an instant connection.

Then only a child, she had kept a polite distance until she matured, contenting herself only with being in his presence every afternoon Monday through Friday September until June with nothing but his witty remarks and sharp tongue to pacify her.

She had thought that surely, he had felt it too.

Severus Snape had protected her from Quirell, shielded her from a werewolf, and put his life on the line for her again and again.

She had seen the way he had started when the dragon lunged for her during the Triwizard Tournament!

Hadn’t he done all that he had out of his love for her?

Did he not see her as a woman at last?!

Harriet sank down on the stone steps and curled her neck forward to place her arms over the back of her head, her fingers clawing at her back.

No.

Severus Snape didn’t love her.

Severus Snape could care if she lived or died.

He hadn’t loved her and he would never love her, because he loved her mother and would……….always.

How could she have gotten it all so very wrong?

As she did the unthinkable and turned her back on him again, Draco felt within himself a yearning desperation for the next month to pass quickly.

He had to get to Hogwarts as soon as possible, there was no other way.

How else was he ever meant to see Harriet Potter again?
