i did! all in one sitting too cause i could tell i was not gonna pick it back up if i stopped. ok i started writing and didn't realize how many thoughts i had but i'm high and verbose. my bad lmfao.

people are definitely glazing tf out of the finale. it was ok. emotionally satisfying and reasonable conclusions to character arcs. good enough. 7.5/10 i think for the last season. it got the job done lmao. all in all i enjoyed it but i doubt i'd watch it again. wasn't a fan of the (apparently the pitt's 1 night ripoff) format. same vibes as being at work for 5 hours and you check the clock and it's been 25 minutes. might revisit s1 and s2 but that's about it.

it stuck the landing but it did feel a little off. like do i feel like i got a satisfying end for our main character arcs? eh kinda. i think the season could have been stronger but also a lot of the issues (as i see them) are issues stemming from previous seasons that they just didn't or couldn't land the plane on.

it felt like the showrunners didn't know whether to elevate sydney to truly being a second protag or keep her as a semi side character. like of the main 3 characters, i feel like her character development was the weakest. her main conflict felt like it was overcoming the fear of failure and relying on others for help and we watched her do those things but it didn't feel like we watched those abilities develop. especially when they fumbled TF out of her arc dragging out the decision with shapiro vs the bear.

richie's story was fine, his development was mostly wrapped by season 2 and he was lowkey pissing me off in s5 like i had to keep reminding myself that syd stabbed him to achieve inner peace.

carmy's emotional journey was satisfying but the more i think about the actual plot beats outside of the kitchen, the less sense it makes. (claire situation, wtf. i'm asking myself what the writers were trying to say with her impact on carmy's story and i'm at a loss. mentioning that here cause the woman is clearly just a plot device for carmy's story) he need to stop playing in them people's architecture office cause wtf. at my undergrad that was a 5 year program like bby i know nepotism and connections are real but can we be serious. in this day and age w no degree even in progress its not realistic. he need to take his ass back to ebra's kitchen. but if we can suspend disbelief on that one i still can't get over him having that emotional moment in the kitchen when he fucked up and they were all nice and him still moving on from that life. in that sense i need to unsuspend my disbelief because lowkey it be like that sometimes. but then you see my problem lmao is the show realism or not.

and then other things like emotionally i'm not seeing how we got from s4 that night to s5 the next day. plot wise i can infer what was discussed but you mean to tell me that everyone could be cool the next day? (and maybe it's that i don't think ayo captured that lingering tension that well idk) but syd's emotional state didn't feel realistic to me and it was throwing me off.

glad they scaled the fak back but it was still too much for me lol. also by the end i was confused about the money situation. like girl are we out of money of not. cicero broke af, can't access more capital, i don't remember them resolving the air rights (that might be on me?), yes they want to franchise but you need cash to start a business and they were so fucking broke they were running out of ingredients?? like everyone is mad positive at the end but the situation is still super trash? a michelin star is not capital. and this is where i have to suspend my disbelief again.
