Julian Onderdonk on Tumblr
This weekend I created a Tumblr blog for the American impressionist painter, Julian Onderdonk. Onderdonk loved painting Texas landscapes and bluebonnets! So many bluebonnets! Fun fact, President George W. Bush decorated the Oval Office with three of Onderdonk's paintings. With that, head over to Julian Onderdonk's blog and give it a follow.Â

Where are the Female Artists?
Many of you have commented that you would like to see more female artists featured on this blog. I hear you you and I want that too. For the sake of full transparency: the reason that I do not have as many female artists (social profiles) as Iâd like at the moment is because I decided to start with a focus on presenting artists with large bodies of work to provide you guys with a variety of content. Unfortunately, due to thousands of years of inequality, these artists are usually men. Are there incredible female Renaissance artists? Absolutely (Sofonisba Anguissola, Lavinia Fontana, and Fede Galizia come to mind and their profiles are coming soon). Was their work as well preserved and available as Leonardo da Vinci? Unfortunately not.Â
Having said that, I have decided to start introducing more female artists regardless of whether or not they have a large body of work available. This means you will start seeing a lot more incredible art by women in the near future. In the mean time, check out the amazing Expressionist artists we just added, Gabriele Munter and Paula Mondersohn-Becker. Paula Modersohn-Becker ( Facebook | Twitter | Tumblr ) Gabriele Munter ( Facebook Twitter | Tumblr ) I am excited to bring you more female artists soon!
See Reality Through the Eyes of Expressionist Painters
When most people think of Expressionism, they think of Edvard Munchâs The Scream or the many women of Egon Schiele. However, the movement contains many more talented artists, and I encourage you to become acquainted with some of the lesser-known expressionists such as Franz Marc, August Macke and (my favorite) Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, as well as follow the classics like Amadeo Modigliani and Oskar Kokoschka. With such a wide variety in styles youâre sure to find new favorites among the thousands of bright and colorful paintings our Expressionists have to offer.
Oskar Kokoschka ( Facebook | Twitter | Tumblr ) Paula Modersohn-Becker ( Facebook | Twitter | Tumblr ) Paul Klee ( Facebook | Twitter | Tumblr ) Egon Schiele ( Facebook | Twitter | Tumblr ) Alexej von Jawlensky ( Facebook | Twitter | Tumblr ) Edvard Munch ( Facebook | Twitter | Tumblr ) August Macke ( Facebook | Twitter | Tumblr ) Franz Marc ( Facebook | Twitter | Tumblr ) Ernst Ludwig Kirchner ( Facebook | Twitter | Tumblr ) Amadeo Modigliani ( Facebook | Twitter | Tumblr ) Martiros Sarian ( Facebook | Twitter | Tumblr ) Gabriele Munter ( Facebook Twitter | Tumblr )
