ENA + Russian Constructivism and Suprematism.
I FINALLY got tumblr to work (thx new VPN) only to see that my last post published three times (thanks wonky train internet lol)
Anyway, I was in Yekaterinburg! It's a city at the foot of the Ural mountains (the Urals being the range that divides Russia's European and Asian parts (Siberia)) and Russia's 4th biggest city. I'd wanted to go there for a long time because the city was majorly built and rebuilt in 1920s and still largely consists of 20s/30s architecture, which I'm a sucker for. I was not disappointed! Here are some of my favourite buildings.
The Main Postal Office, still functions as such.
2. The House of the Press - originally printing house and newspaper offices, now restaurants and offices.
3. Residential building.
4. The White Tower, originally a water tower, now abandoned.
5. Residential building for singles and small families (without children), part of the Chekist Town. Now a hotel.
6-7. The Dinamo stadium, still functions.
There were so many more, they were everywhere. It was amazing and I loved it!
They leave the West behind ☎️✈️

Zuev Workers' Club, Moscow, Russia,
Designed by Ilya Golosov between 1927-1929,
The Zuev Workers' Club is one of the most celebrated examples of Constructivist architecture. Created as a cultural and social center for workers, the building is distinguished by its dramatic composition of intersecting geometric forms, most notably the glazed cylindrical staircase that contrasts with the stacked rectangular volumes.
The design emphasizes openness, natural light, and dynamic movement, reflecting Golosov's expressive approach to modern architecture. Today, the building remains an icon of the Soviet avant-garde.
