Words: 3276 Female Shepard / Ashley Williams Fic focuses on a conversation between Ashley and Thane. Setting: Early-mid Mass Effect 3, just before Shepard's first conversation with Ashley after she awakes.

In the sunset of his life, Thane Krios knows that Maria Shepard's heart lay with another - and he would never ask otherwise, especially now. But she's given him his soul back, and helped reunite him with Kolyat. While he still has time, he wishes to return the favor.

Thane knows that Shepard only ever loved one person, so far as he could discern. Her name was Ashley Williams, and after nearly giving her life in duty on Mars, she lay in a room just down the hall recovering.

Shepard gave him his son back. That alone makes it worth the attempt to reunite Shepard with she who once brought her joy and peace.
