I love poetry man but fuck me it is not the easiest thing for me to write. Add in that it has to both fit two characters at once for each section and there’s a lot of Port Mafia members.

They both have the same motivations when it comes to protecting their city above all else. They both view themselves as an extension of said organisation and everything they do is always for the betterment of said organisation.

But the main difference between them is that while Mori will do whatever it takes to accomplish that goal Kunikida will always act in accordance with his ideals.

Mori will sacrifice any pieces he deems necessary to protect his city.

Kunikida will sacrifice himself if he deems it necessary to protect his city.

And so with all that in mind I find it really interesting when people talk about how Dazai’s role in this. How he constantly derails Kunikida’s schedule and such cause he’s worried about what could happen otherwise if he doesn’t do that.

It all goes back to his entrance exam and the Azure King. Where we saw just how easily Kunikida could be corrupted if he broke his own rules.

Corrupted like the Azure King.

Ruthless like Mori Ougai.

And who would know that better than Dazai who was Mori’s right hand for years, who is now Kunikida’s partner. Dazai who would become his right hand too if Kunikida became the head of the Agency.

Dazai who is still remembers reaching out for a broken man only for him to slip through his fingers and march to his own death. Dazai who had to drag Kunikida out kicking and screaming away from a cage filling with poison.

I just need Mori going off on Fukuchi after learning Tachihara’s true identity because I can excuse spies in my organisation if they benefit me. But I draw the line at the government committing medical malpractice on MY SUBORDINATES.

Mori’s hearing about the Hunting Dog surgeries and he’s seething because that’s not to code, that small “adjustment” breaks 58 regulations and that last one was outlawed before I was born.

Now has Mori also committed medical malpractice?

Yup but he did it to win a world war so everything he did to the soldiers and Yosano is justified in his eyes. Whereas Fukuchi was doing this shit preemptively not to mention Tachihara was a child and was blackmailed into joining them lest they got him arrested.

Say what you will about Mori but that would never sit right with him.

So not only has Fukuchi poorly tried to replicate his immortal solider plan but he did so in the field that Doctor Mori is particularly impassioned about.

If this had been revealed sooner Fukuzawa wouldn’t have even needed to ask for his help.

Cause in Mori’s eyes the Port Mafia would’ve been involved the second one his men had been messed with. He said it himself in Fifteen he’s the head of this organisation and also its slave and he will dirty his hands in whatever way to see it succeed.

Mori doesn’t discard important pieces and Tachihara is definitely a valuable one to him as both a loyal double agent and a member of the Black Lizard. So he’s not going to take kindly to anyone who’s trying to take one away from him.

Not for nothing but it is why the Agency and the Port Mafia have been furring for over a decade. But unlike Fukuzawa, he doesn’t need to allow Fukuchi to live to protect his city.

Today on the 15th June 2026 the Court of Appeals has ruled that the proscription of Palestine Action is indeed lawful. Meaning that any support of affiliation with this group could get you arrested for up to 14 years.

14 years for holding up a sign.

The UK government wanted this outcome clearly and they got it. A group that they didn’t like for destroying equipment being used to aid in a genocide is now being treated like terrorists.

Not the people who were rioting in Southport 2 years ago.

Not the people who were rioting in Belfast and setting houses on fire.

Not the Far right bigots at the Unite the Kingdom marches.

Not the people who set fire to that cafe and now a mosque in Blackburn.

Not the person who set that LGBTQ nightclub on fire in Milton Keynes.

Nope just a bunch of people peacefully protesting a genocide. Those are the people that our government believe deserve to be deemed as terrorists and everyone else can do whatever they want.

Absolutely vile and disgusting but does it surprise me? No no it in the slightest. Our government should not be able to just decide one day they don’t like what we’re doing and treat us as terrorists.

Especially in the way they pick and choose who those rules apply to.
