About donation links:
Do not send me asks about donations or gofundmes.
I do not publish donation posts sent to me by anyone I don't know, and for anyone I don't know personally. There are far too many scams and grifters these days and I am not going to be part of spreading anything I can't verify myself, and exposing my followers to scams.
If the only way you can contact me is via Tumblr then you do not know me well enough to ask me to share donation posts.

like yeah i have encountered people online who think their ocs who exist in a contextless bubble deserve the same reverence as fully realized characters, and that mentality is annoying, but i don't actually think the end goal of all art is to became a webcomic, i think it's a perfectly fine if people want to flex their creative muscle by creating funky character designs with wacky backstories just for the joy of creation itself, like you don't have to be personally invested in it, but it's a bizarre way to moralize art especially coming from a group of people who otherwise seem to be against that?
Okay, one last cosplay accessory, and then I can start on the Fox sweater. I made a rule that all cosplay work had to be done before I started it.
I have started on the final cosplay accessory and think it will be done tomorrow or Monday. It's a tote bag that you make the strap for, and that always takes me longer than I think it will.
And once it's finished, I can also get the photos of the Barbie cosplay!
I think it would be really wonderful if seagulls were constructed more like bottles with a mystery inside. What I'm imagining is that were you to catch one, you could then unscrew its face and there would be a glowing gem nestled in some sort of socket. The Core of the Gull so to speak. Then you could swap that around with other seagulls, and after screwing the faces back on they would fly off as if nothing happened. Hm... Is this too esoteric, or do some of you see what I am getting at?

It’s the year of the horse and I’ve always been a horse girl at heart, so I’m finally taking advantage of the excuse to fill the world with fat little horses! These felted friends are about the size (and shape!) of an apple, and if you happen to have any apples to share I’m sure they’d help you out! This coppery Appaloosa actually has metallic fibers blended into her base color for a subtle shimmer effect to compliment her spots and speckles.
This piece will be part of a herd of fat horses at Furrydelphia, August 7-9th!
(reverse unpopular opinion meme is where you get a topic and instead of hot takes, you gotta say something you liked about it)
You are giving me easy mode :D I fucking *loved* Iron Lung! It was so refreshing to watch a movie that had been made for the love of making a movie, where the choices were made intentionally, and that was sincere in the story it was telling.
I got a lot of opinions so here's a read more to save your dash.
I'd been feeling really jaded about media for the past few years because it feels like everything is a nostalgia bait cashgrab written by committee and sanded down in the focus group rock tumbler until it's got nothing left on it that inspires any sort of opinion.
And! I'm also sick of watching movies that are embarrassed to be about what they are! The marvelesque smirk at the camera and joke about how the premise is stupid just pisses me off.
I didn't have high expectations for IL, like I knew that he was a popular youtuber but my only contact with Markiplier previously was when someone photoshopped his face onto a fucked up centaur I drew like ten years ago, I hadn't even heard his voice before the movie started. (It's quite a nice voice)
But it was so great! I am a huge fan of practical effects and I really loved the pacing of the movie, the scenes where nothing happens but like, fluid dripping I thought were a really good use of whatever the film version of negative space is. Mark is also a surprisingly good actor! At no point did it feel like I was watching a famous youtuber you know?
I've seen it twice so far, and will probably watch it again. I like that the lore/world building of this particular story was really zoomed in. Everything happens in one or two days, you find out about the world through the conversations happening, and the way characters react, but no questions are really answered, and there isn't very much exposition at all. I think that the covered shape of the universe they've written is very interesting and a lot more compelling than it would have been if they'd taken the time to explain everything in words. I like that we have to think about it, and make theories, and actually pay attention. I liked that it didn't turn to the camera and go "The seeds represent hope".
(considering I just watched the latest Jurassic World movie and they have the protagonist literally say "I think I have some unresolved PTSD from my last mission I am avoiding." And "everyone is only here because we are all desperate"... My expectations were *low*)
BloodyMary Bonus:
So @l-heure-du-the got me to watch Iron Lung partially because they've been obsessed with Bloody Mary, and I wanted to know what had them so hype. Genuinely I haven't seen them this excited for a fandom for almost 10 years so I had to. And they were right it's incredible! I have also been inspired to write my first fic since 2015...
I watched Iron Lung first, and only got the time to watch PHM a few weeks later. PHM is now my favourite movie ever and I have seen it 6 times now. It is on rotation.
I find the completely unintentional parallels between the movies fascinating. Like, these movies are NOT in dialogue with each other but there are so many little things that align in such a delicious way. Aside from like, the main points like they're both about the stars dying, and a man sent off under duress to die alone in order to save humanity, there are some really amazing coincidences.
The red light of the petrova line over Grace's eyes when he arrives at Tau Ceti/ the money shot from the cracked viewport spraying blood across Simon's eyes
Grace having a moment of pure awe and wonder while the screen turns red as they're collecting samples at Adrien/ Simon's moment of pure horror and terror when the light slices through the sub (turning everything red) and how both of these red scenes are the turning point in both movies
Both of them being sent out in a way that would be abhorrent in any circumstances other than the extinction of humanity. Both in ships made in desperation by people working together. Both under the command of women that cannot let compassion move them from their task.
(I got more but I'll stop here lol)
I am a fan of the ship too, because of those paralells. I think Simon and Grace have so many narrative possibilities, (and Simon deserves a fucken breakkkkk) and I absolutely love that neither movie has a romantic subplot shoehorned in and I think they're both stronger stories for it. (I've said before that what I want from the original media is different from what I enjoy in fandom)
I enjoy the bloodymary au and Simon/grace a lot, especially when I'm in the mood for an au or talking about "what if"s with Max, but I am a huge huge huge fan of grace/rocky and that's great for when I want to fill the spaces in canon, or jump off from the canon ending point. I feel so spoiled to be able to get both!
Anyway, I've written a fucken huge big doorstopper of an answer here but I am having such a good time with these movies and with all the beautiful art that's been coming out! It really feels like a renaissance of fandom for me. I haven't been this pumped for a long long time.
There's an open pit in the middle of our office plan that drops down into a bunch of very sharp spikes that kill you instantly. This is bad. People keep falling in there and dying. Someone put a sign up, the other day, all bright yellow so you can't miss it, that says "Beware!!! Spikes!!!"
The office immediately split into two factions over it. One says that if anyone falls in the spike pit it's their own fault for being so stupid and not watching where they're walking, so we should remove the sign. The other says that the sign is an insult, there shouldn't be a spike pit in our office at all, and having the sign up like that is just normalising the existence of the spike pit, so we should remove the sign.
We ended up removing the sign. Probably for the better. Still... for a while there it looked like it might have worked...
Nobody has ever been capable of writing a scathingly harsh and well formulated satire about the perils of modern capitalism, that doesn't just get immediately one-upped by some random food service worker talking about their actual week.
