🔹. Benjamin Franklin - his quote refers to a person who thinks negatively and that persons inability to find positivity or perhaps #appreciation in anything ...if we are #discontent, it can affect all aspects of #life leading to negative thinking and unhelpful behaviours which in turn run the danger of #filtering out positive experiences. Our #focus on the negative means that our #mind quite quickly disqualifies any alternative experiences we may have. 🔹 if you notice that your thoughts are negative, you’re feeling low or generally #unhappy there may be a tendency to want to think your way through it.. why am I feeling like this? What’s happened to make me feel this way? How can I feel better? Understanding can be great but thinking when low can lead to ruminative thinking - going around and around with very few new or helpful thoughts. 🔹 So rather than (over)thinking, choose doing - pick a nice activity you can engage in - it doesn’t have to be anything fancy, but it would be helpful if it is something you can focus on - a nice bath, a good book, a talk to a friend, drawing, meditating... whatever you know you enjoy. The doing will help the thinking to become more helpful. Give it a go - try to break your negative cycle. #benjaminfranklin #positivity #negativity #cbt #alternativethinking #doing #action #doingnothinking #rumination #funactivity #lowmood #unhelpfulthoughts #activity #simplepleasures #thinkgoodfeelgood #therapy #intention #negativecycle #onlinetherapy #everyoneneedsmetime #metime #helpfulthinking #drkaurtherapy (at London, United Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/BvfT9U-BIa4/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1l4hjghfa299f
