dear world,
does consciousness make things matter, even if nothing has intrinsic meaning?
i think the only reason anything in the universe feels meaningful at all is because consciousness exists to perceive it. without awareness, nothing matters. not stars, not planets, not existence itself. it would all just be, with no value, no significance, no meaning.
we like to believe meaning is something inherent, something built into reality, but it is not. it is something we impose. consciousness takes an indifferent universe and forces it to feel alive, to feel important, to feel like it matters.
this is where nihilism becomes unavoidable. there is no intrinsic meaning, only constructed meaning. everything we care about is rooted in perception, not reality itself.
so what does that make meaning? if it only exists because we experience it, is it still real, or just a convincing illusion we cannot escape? and if consciousness is the only thing creating meaning, does that make it the most important thing in existence, or the most deceptive?
how do you decide what matters when nothing inherently does?
