+ Niall

Maia pressed her hand to her forehead and widened her eyes. âI hadnât thought about that!â Once he started rambling it was hard to keep up on a good day. With some liquor in her she was a goner. âI need an american translator for later on then, huh?â She nudged him playfully. âI wanted some cheese and crackers and some of those little chicken things people have.â Maia pointed out at another group and the snacks they had on their plates. âAnd more wine. Always more wine, you should know better than that Ni!â Sheâs put her empty glass down at some point and now didnât have a clue where it was. Had she had lunch before the wedding she wouldnât be such a tipsy mess right now. But the timezone and jetlag had messed her right up. âOh god, Iâm having the best time. Scotland is beautiful! The wedding was beautiful! I cried like a baby when they said their vows! Iâve been a mess all day. Did you have fun today?â
Niall knew that Maia had fallen victim to his awkward rambling before when heâd been a little embarrassed and tongue-tied, but his drunken rambling was a whole new species of nonsense. âWeâll find someone who knows the Irish accent later - maybe Saoirse herself can help us out if sheâs not too drunk on her own,â he pointed out, expecting the bride to be having way too much fun to act as nonsense-translator but it was fun to imagine anyways. âAlright so chicken on crackers with some little cheese things,â he nodded, suddenly hungry at the mention of food. He leaned across the bartop, grabbing the attention of one of the guys and explaining what Maia was after, the thick Scottish accent coming in return before Niall turned back to Maia. âThe snack stuff has been laid out on the other side, over there,â he gestured uselessly to the other side of the venueâs room over the heads of loads of other people. âSo weâre gonna get our wine, then we can do over? Itâs like - a buffet thing, I think,â he said, having not 100% caught that part of what the bartender was saying but that was more because of the noise around them than it was because of any miscommunication. âYeah, it was lovely, they did a good job planning this one out. Weddings always are so infectiously happy but this one more than any other Iâve been to, I think,â he said, acting as casually as he could whilst he waited for their drinks to some through. âIt was really good, yeah. Nice to be around the other lads, donât get to see each other all that much and definitely not at the same time,â he explained. âAnd lovely to see you of course, lookinâ even more beautiful in person than you did on FaceTime,â he complimented a little shyly, thanking the man as he placed two glasses of wine in front of them. After the beer heâd had, Niall probably shouldnât be mixing his drinks but fuck it.
