Yes a-lot of people who claim to be geniuses aren’t.But in order to Dismantle the idea of Iq and intelligence i know many will only listen to the privileged side of the conversation. I am trying to use my privilege to point out why its Bullshit that i have this privilege in the first place And also why its painful

You Devaluing People with IDD as unintelligent hurts our whole community including those on the other end of your perception of intelligence.IQ. Has historically been used to divide and kill based on Eurocentric perceptions of knowledge.

People get killed for the labels you slap on us like a compliment.

IDD. “genius” “High functioning” “low functioning.”

Its tiring and its too much

If you are disabled you take social groups based on disability not intelligence which is good. As a result we learn the skills we are lacking from one another.

The types of intelligence we are lacking from one another.

I for example have high “book-smart” type intelligence

The problem with this is my Iq is staggered my emotional intelligence almost does not exist. I panic about almost everything…. I dont feel pain physically but i feel heartbreak like being shattered glass sharp and demanding of attention.

Most of us dont survive past 50 due to emotional causes of our deaths.

Being able to grow up with My friends with Intellectual Disability they had the emotional intelligence I lack They have helped calm me down from panic attacks. They are sometimes more rational than I am. As well as more “Intelligent.” In some ways

You to this day have them buried with numbers instead of names … some places have Disabled graves marked Specimens. Our ancestors many of whom who survived Asylums are still very much ALIVE < they have to live with the Trauma of surviving. They have to live with the knowledge you buried their friends as numbers.

You forced Thier families to put them there with lies and lawsuits.

It was illegal for us to go out in public until 1974!!!

We didn’t get any kind of rights in the US until 1990…

Yet you benefit from Disabled people’s inventions and innovation Daily you don’t need to profit off us and weaponize our pain against our peers too you’ve done enough.

People who are perceived as twice exceptional or Disabled Geniuses; are fetishized, exploited, and used as a weapon against our peers.

People who are perceived as having IDD:

Are not getting materials using more comfortable and inclusive language and are being devalued constantly.

Go into a Disabled space or social groups or something before you talk about functioning labels or “intelligence.”

This is being used to Pit us against one another when we need one another.

Ive been shoved in the high functioning Genius category This is wrong for many reasons:

The main ones that bother me are;

•I grew up in social groups with folks with a vast array of support needs. Our needs are different ,but many of us grow up together via social groups via Special Ed rooms, Via our parents leaning on one another for support. Don’t you dare Label ANY of us as less than or disrespect ANY of us.

•Shoving us into a category of Intelligence is BS (IQ doesn’t have weight you can’t measure intelligence.)

Processing maybe but people who need more time to process are not less intelligent.

•Folks who are considered Disabled and viewed as High functioning or Higher intelligence can have major struggles with emotional balance and regulation I struggle with this. However this is a strength area for some of my peers with Intellectual disability we learn from each-other and we need each-other due to having strengths and weaknesses in different areas.

Lastly 2E individuals especially 2E Autistics are tired of the Segregation from our peers and the disrespect of our whole communities when you do this. There is some talk around Autistic folks who are Considered 2E or genius not to share what we make because if you don’t value our peers with IDD and any peer in the disability community you don’t value any of us.

Gifted/Genius Disabled folks don’t have to be put against folks with IDD and Vice versa.Especially not by Other disabled people.

The truth is both Gifted/Genius folks and folks with IDD have value and face different sorts of oppression.

All these scales are is a measure of Perception of intelligence not actual intelligence.

Gifted/Genius Disabled folks are Fetishized and overworked.

Folks With IDD are disrespected, and under appreciated for their contributions.

This Shit is HURTING US.

If you go into a Disabled cultural space there’s a wide range of folks with a wide range of needs.One need isn’t more or less valuable than the other.

Sometimes I get Angry and Sad I lived most of my life not knowing I was Gifted as where I live doesn’t have a gifted program so they never needed to test me…

I remember feeling safer with my peers and I mean My Disabled peers. In our spaces we didn’t have to worry about getting picked on… so when I was fully mainstreamed I remember asking …..why am allowed to be in NT classes when my other friends with the same diagnosis are not?

The answer was “because you are not like those Autistics.”

This again made me sad. I was like those Autistics we are all one community and shouldn’t be divided by how Nuerotypicals want to perceive us.

The real difference was in access to comfortable learning materials not being provided. As well as ignorance on disability

Folks with IDD are still parts of our communities and both folks with IDD and Genius fall on two opposite sides of how Nuerotypicals perceive our intelligence

Meaning both our communities would need adjusted coursework to make our minds comfortable and safe.

This isn’t being done for folks with IDD we don’t use comfortable and easier to process language or have options that are comfortable for processing vs heavy text.

We are all Disabled if you can’t accept Folks with IDD you shouldn’t be using the contributions of Disabled geniuses because we are all from the same Disability community.

This being said there are valid reasons to not want vaccines

Medical conditions where you cannot get the vaccine.

You are from a culture that has been historically oppressed using vaccines being distrustful due to Medical Racism and Eugenics that has occurred is valid.

However if you have privilege and don’t have to worry about medical oppression

You shouldn’t be using conspiracies as a reason you don’t want to take advantage of a privilege many would kill for.

It’s spoiled and it’s purposefully ignoring facts.

Mutations in diseases take time…. Time that might be allotted because not enough people are getting vaccinated to make it hard for covid to spread and mutate

Delta and Omricon were preventable.

Omricon is absolutely the fault of Racism ,Imperialism and capitalism. The fact vaccine companies have vaccines to nations they perceived as “ first world.” Yet are trying to get countries like India counties in South Asia and countries in Africa to pay is disgraceful.

Especially since the greed of these companies is what is keeping Covid around globally.

The vaccines literally should just be distributed without a double standard a price or a fight.

The people dying from Omricon and Delta those variants were preventable. Nobody should be dying from something that wouldn’t have time to exist if we gave vaccines to everyone and listened to science.

Pay attention to WHO conferences and listen to national leaders who are not being given appropriate resources in favor of colonial powers.

It’s that season where we start to celebrate Halloween.

Halloween is cool it has a rich history and has different ways of honoring the dead.

Honoring the dead is important Wether you are spiritual or not because honoring the dead is an acknowledgment of the lessons learned by our predecessors.

Halloween though is often turned more into a casual joking and costume situation.

It’s ok if you do that or that’s how you celebrate but please be mindful and consider some things.

Halloween is celebrated differently from culture to culture. It’s important to be respectful to those who take it as a more serious day to reflect and to welcome the joy and sorrow filled lessons of those who came before. That being said some people see the honoring the dead part as something outside of costumes and a call to examine how we would respond to things done by people who came before to heal it within our own bloodline or reflecting on the amazing ways our predecessors have contributed to society. Every year Nuerodivergents have to see you smile and laugh about what our communities consider great tragedies and. Depending on how you define Genocide some would consider it Genocide.

Asylums: Most Disabled and Nuerodivergent People who would have been Elders in our communities that have died were killed in Asyslums or died there.

Eugenics in America is a part of what is kept alive when we believe in things like “Functioning levels.” Or that “Intelligence.” Can actually be measured and depending on that value people are worth keeping alive or the cruelest people I have heard refer to some of us as wastes of resources.

There isn’t a Damn Disabled or Nuerodivergent who’s is “a waste of resources.”

Nobody owes you productivity or production in exchange for their lives.

Nobody owes you work in exchange for their lives.

For people in Disabled and Nuerodiverse communities People in our communities find value in what they like.

It’s how we calm ourselves. Special interests are how we calms ourselves and no special interests don’t need to fit NT or Ablebodied ideas of “Age Appropriate.” Especially as they like to use this to back up the “Mental age narrative which is gross.”

Point is a lot of Adult Nuerodivergent and Mentally Ill folks who turn to shows like Thomas the tank engine or kids TV

Is because Kids TV follows a routine it is predictable it doesn’t have all the scary and abrupt violence that might happen on mainstream tv.

It isn’t about “Intellect.” It’s aboit

If you have a migraine it is probably hard for you to read Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

^ this matters false narratives on mental illness lead to social exclusion and High suicide rates in our communities.

•We should want whatever can help folks with Addictive tendencies survive and not be shamed for a literal medical condition.

•Full Respect for Developmentally,Physically,Invisibly and Intellectually disabled minds and bodies.

• Meaning we trust Disabled folks and treat them like adults trusting their lived experiences

Etc.

So how can we benefit from the work of Nuerodivergent Individuals (Including Disabled BIPOC who make up 50% of all police killings?)And yet allow for the mistreatment of those in society in the same position as the people we consider “Beloved.” Or “Iconic.”

We disrespect Autistic/Disabled Individuals in three ways

•We assume that they are not equally as intelligent and undervalue their ideas, thoughts,feelings and existence.

•NT society assumes only The only way a person with a Disabillity, Nuerodivergence ,Mental illness is important is; if they contribute to Consumerism/mass Production, they can be used as an inspirational object or an object of Pity or we only value them if we can compare them to savants and geniuses

Folks who are just existing are valid no person needs to meet conform or colonize into Eurocentric social skills in order to meet your criteria for societal acceptance and the expectation that you need to “Understand.”/ “Make sense of” People is putting undo stress on folks.

We are all Valuable.

I am an Autistic woman I was diagnosed at around 5 years old and I grew up going to social groups and events with my Disabled peers. I was bullied badly in school for being different called the R slur. Told my ideas had no intellectual value or contribution ,because I was disabled.

It got to me enough I felt like I wasn’t “Smart.” Or “intellligent.”

I found out at the age of 21 that I am one of 0.5% of the population that counts as 2E twice exceptional meaning Disabled and Gifted. I also found out that I am a Genius further than that….

My first reaction to this as a person who grew up Autistic and Among my peers with IDD, Developmental Disability, Physical disability and invisibles disability.

My first reaction was guilt… I for the longest time had convinced myself I wasn’t something of Intellectual value based on how bad I was bullied.

To find out that medically speaking I actually was made me feel guilt and sadness. The very same IQ that says I count as a Genius says my peers in Social Skills Groups and Disabled spaces are lacking productivity and intellectual value. This bothers me a lot.

As there are two Ideas used in medicine law and society that are social constructs and do not exist/ cannot be measured:

Intelligence or IQ

Cannot actually be measured

Especially for 2E folks like me who’s “IQ” has significant stagger making a true estimate nearly impossible.

There are many different kinds of Intelligence all with merit Gardeners theory of multiple intelligences highlights this.

IQ is heavily based in western Eurocentric knowledge values and the truth is what is considered valuable or intelligent varies from culture to culture and no values of intelligence are less important than others.

Insanity

i”n a state of mind which prevents normal perception, behavior, or social interaction; seriously mentally ill.

Here is the issue with sanity and why it’s bullshit.

It prevents “Normal” Social interaction

Social interaction according to who?

Many cultures have different social norms values and ideas of respect and Etiquette…

The truth of what is listed here as “Normal” means Eurocentric.

The same with behavior what is appropriate dress or behavior or action can carry from culture to culture

With Insanity you have invented a word to back up illogical Eugenic ideology with Untrue but convincing facts that are carefully worded to be believable.
