Haven’t figured out what I am going to do with Samhain and I do have to catch him up. I also started a chaos game with my dad where everyone has wild magic or something chaotic.
So have some favorite screenshots
Luckily Samhain was the main personality out, although sale, was definitely out when dealing with the Druids. He also came out when there was a malfunction and astarion turned into a giant and Samhain was a foot tall.
Meanwhile seraph is just super pretty… and likes talking funny magic stories sigh Gale.

Celtic wheel- Samhain
-rolls up sleeves-
I went a tiny bit crazy on this one because Samhain is my favorite time of year.
Samhain marks the time when the veil between worlds is at its thinnest. A sacred moment to honor ancestors, reflect on the past and embrace the cycle of life and death. To search for the quiet magic of the unseen. it is the Celtic new year, the end of the harvest season. It is a transition from light to dark, the time where fairies and spirits seek to trap human souls. A time of games, feasting and peering into the future.
originally turnips and radishes were used to ward off and scare spirits but over time the tradition changed to pumpkins, thus the many many pumpkins. Calluna is working on making sure the bonfire wards off any evil spirits, and letting the playful harmless ones frolic above. Kal is popping in to remind you he’s been technically in all the other pictures with Calluna but this is one of the times you can actually see them.
Meanwhile theneiros is pulling off the vampire noble look with pointers from astarion and borrowed clothes from vanna. Who knows where orphellion got to. Maybe Then got Calluna to turn him into the book.
Calluna and Kal are dressing up as normal elves as their costume to confuse the spirits, Raven is dressing up as… well he didn’t tell me. Potentially the headless horseman. Astarion is dressing up as a monster hunter since it amuses him, or a light house keeper.
Lanterns are lighting the way for the spirits, and the group is brewing some sort of blue rasberry concoction.
Sidhe is guarding Calluna, Mabon finally came out of bat form and Seelie is hiding as an owl.

I appreciate the ancient Samhain history of Halloween but sometimes the revisionist history annoys me. For example, yes, leaving offerings to spirits (and deities) is a very ancient practice. And we like to conflate this with Trick or treating and pretend that trick or treating happened for centuries.
The reality is that though the offerings to the dead or to appease nature spirits and goblins is quite old, actual modern trick or treating is not even quite a century old yet.
Between the mainstream act of leaving offerings and modern trick or treating there was a long gap where the concept of trick or treat wasn't there (in Christian society anyway) in any form.
In fact the first recorded use of the phrase "Trick or Treat" started in Blackie, Alberta, Canada, in 1927. That's right. As American as modern Halloween seems, modern trick or treating is actually a Canadian invention.
Offerings for spirits = Ancient.
Trick or Treat = Started in the 20s and first recorded in 1927 in Canada.
Now, one can easily argue that the offerings to the dead inspired the concept of trick or treat but actual trick or treating is still pretty new and ironically in danger of being destroyed by fear mongering and unnecessary restrictions (curfews and age restrictions).
The whole reason modern Trick or treating started was to keep teens busy on Halloween and to stop them from making mischief. A treat to avoid trickery. And now teenagers aren't even allowed to do it because, in less than a century, we let ourselves forget why modern trick or treating started.
Yes, respect the ancient history, but also know the modern one as well. Maybe we wouldn't have so many arbitrary and unhelpful limitations placed on children if we actually remembered it.
And please know that I AM aware of Wasailing and Christmas Caroling and guising. All not quite the same as knocking on doors, going going "Trick or treat" and expecting sweets on All Hallow's Eve. All similar and may have helped inspire it but not quite the same thing. I've come across too many short stories and fan fictions where children are going trick or treat anachronistically in 1750 or so.

Celtic wheel- Samhain wip
we finally get to it. My favorite time of the year. When the veil is thin, spirits enter the world and the Celtic new year comes to an end. It’s Samhain! Because Samhain is special this is also a special pic as our guides are now Calluna and Kal, because of the day you can actually see him. As such theneiros takes the spot of my companion even though he’s he good friend Izumi’s.
Samhain was extremely hard to pick because everyone who has a durge could land a spot here but I finally decided astarion had to be the companion, and our guest this time is Raven.
Mabon finally comes out of small shy bat form, and Sidhe is fiercely guarding their fairy doctor because Calluna can be a bit reckless on Samhain. Shush it’s their birthday.
