I swear people who say "*female character* is a terrible daughter!" when said daughter do have vaild reasons to be frustrated with their parental figure(s), even if they're immature or bratty about how they react to do shouldn't ever fucking become parents. (Bonus points if it's a cis man whipping out that criticism)

Like, why is it daughters. I see wayyy less comments about "*male character* is a terrible son!" In these sorts of conversations.

Anytime I see this arugement, even if it's for a female character I genuinely don't like, I immediately write off the person making the criticism. And, yes I would still write off the criticism for male characters, too.

Expecting your children, even if they're now adults, to coddle their grown ass parents, especially if they have vaild reasons to be frustrated with their parent(s) or they're "terrible children," has a really real name. It's called parentification. It's considered a form of neglect at best and abuse at worse.

If you seriously expect fictional children or the adult children of to coddle their fictional parents or they're terrible children reflects something so concerning where im like, god, as a child of parentification myself, please don't fucking have really real children.

It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!

I cannot stand the parodies of modern major general, they're overdone and simply not as good as the original. They've done them about everything, whatever topic, big or small.

And when i notice one of them my eyes will always start to roll.

The diction's always slurry when they rush the complicated words, and adding many fricatives will turn it so cacophonous. The slanted rhymes are silly and they keep just making more and more, please someone stop the parodies of modern major general.

The scanning of the lyrics in the meter is unbearable, they emphazise the syllables in ways that are untenable, in short in matters musical, prosodic and ephemeral, i cannot stand the parodies of modern major general!

Btw the heat *is* why we see water that's not really there, but mirages aren't exactly hallucinations so much as optical illusions:

It's just the changing density of the air refracting light weirdly, so it looks like there's a reflection of the sky on the ground, which our brains often interpret as a pool of water. It can also happen upwards instead of downwards, especially at sea, when the air is much colder near the surface and a warm front appears above it:
