Hello! I’m Rifty/Riffs (courtesy of @/m1l0-58), Leaf, or Light! My pronouns are she/her, and I’m an artist who dabbles in writing from time to time. My Ao3 is Rifty_Doodles if you want to check some of it out ^^

My main interests are Project Hail Mary (the book and the movie) and Sanders Sides, but I also enjoy Shoot from the Hip, Good Omens, Detroit: Become Human, The Magnus Archives (currently on episode 38), outer space, The Legend of Zelda, and the Hatchetfield trilogy.
No specific DNI list, but I do block people that I don’t want on my blog.
I’m currently listening to the Magnus Archives, so there will be a bunch of posts tagged with various trigger warnings as I’m live-blogging. If there are any warnings you’d like me to tag for lmk but you have been warned.

Other stuff
My favourite side is Virgil, closely followed by Logan and Janus.
My favourite bands/musicians are Nehmasis, Taylor Swift, Finnegan Tui, AJR, Tom Cardy, The Crane Wives, The Oh Hellos and Annapantsu.
I use Procreate for digital art, and various sketchbooks (one of which used to be a planner/calender!) for traditional. My favourite art supplies are acrylic brush pens and coloured ballpoint pens.

The toonsquid tapes: another silly rp with @/varianwonder again where Rifty rescues vari from a personified toonsquid holding them hostage. Tw for mentions of guns, swords and injury. Very lighthearted and goofy though.

Logan: Much like Coco's attitude to learning. All magic is precious and fascinating. Differently, though, he has that "must spend 24/7 learning everything there is to know about magic." Loves coming up with useful/utility spells and contraptions. Would love to do nothing but study for the rest of his life
Patton: Literally Tetia. Bouncey happy and focuses on the "magic is supposed to make people happy" aspect. Eager to take teach test so he can get to the helping people part faster. Sticks to helping animals in the meantime. Excited to learn that the Shield test is helping animals.
Roman: Wants to become a famous witch for inventing new never-before-seen fancy spells. Real works of magical art. Leans heavily into the "artistic" side of magic and away from the "functional" aspect. Very creative, but those spells are often just for show and not very practical. Needs to be pushed to make practical spells, and even then makes them shiny and fancy out of spite.
Virgil: Scared he might accidentally cast a wrong spell, or might cast forbidden magic on accident. Needs to be encouraged to learn anything outside the basics, because without outside influence that child is sticking to simple spells. Very very good at simple spells, scared to try and make his own unique spells.
Remus: Wants to be a brimhat so badddddd I mean look at those brim hats they can do cool things I can't do and they're fashionable about it why can't I do that.
Comes up with wild and crazy spell ideas but doesn't cast them (at least not until he's older)
Janus: Wants to grow up to be a healing witch. He knows that's forbidden magic, but thinks the KM are stupid. Why can't we heal people. Magic is supposed to help people, yet certain types of helping people are against the law? That makes no sense. Why are the KM the only ones allowed to use a forbidden spell. This whole society is built on a lie so the cops can rule the world.
Does a fun game with Remus which is "Try to see if I can loophole Remus' fun ideas into not being forbidden on technicality"
( Remus is both impressed by the malicious compliance and upset over the "spirit of the spell" not being kept in Janus' draft, because the whole point is its forbidden. In turn, Remus tries to close as many loop holes as possible. No spells are actually cast in this game, just thought of / pencil drawn.)
Still working on ideas for what they become when they grow up. Obvs I'm making Jan and Re brimhats. Those two are not law-abiding witches.
Also this is just "a vision came to me and I had to write it down" conception of this au so far

context/tldr: logan stops roman and virgil from interfering with his research by essentially eliminating roman through virgil via brainwash (in detail: virgil brutally fights and shoots roman multiple times with logan's pistol.) the photocard in the art is what logan used to essentially remind himself that roman would no longer be a threat to his work anymore. ^u^

I made npmd character stickers for a prod! and yes, this is the art project I've been working on for maybe a week or so. very proud of how these came out :-)

logan was formed somewhere deeply rooted in thomas's mind. wires and plugs (which were actually veins and nerve endings and such) acted like a 3d printer of sorts, building up logan's organs, skeletal structure, facial features, etc, as thomas's logic and knowledge grew day by day. of course, eventually, logan would seperate from these connections and grow up as the side he is today, but there's still a section in his room dedicated to essentially resetting/rebooting himself with those same plugs and wires when his functions are significantly malfunctioning/when he's weaker after a long day (hence the title on the drawing itself!)
the square-like plates on his face from previous drawings are actually scars from different entry points for the plugs, which is also why they don't go away since they're reopened so often :-)
there's also risks and side effects from these ‘rebooting sessions.’ the most common being memory loss (usually short term.) most of the time, logan is able to quickly regain said lost memory, but there have been instances where he's forgotten places, facts, and even people in thomas's life that he'd have to essentially re-learn about before anything else.
I also imagine this connects with the orange side, where he knew its name, its appearances, etc: but after a reset, he completely forgot about it. and with how mysterious the orange side is now, he couldn't really get those lost memories of it back. (#hauntingthenarrative! who cheered!)
the plugs and wires are actually able to be used on the other sides for the same reasons (unstable functions, stress, etc.) but also have the same risk of memory loss. if used too strongly, or too much, they'll go back to square 1 of their development as a whole, which is why they don't use it as much as logan does.
extra: logan makes sure to lay out objects from his room on a table to quickly remember small details/habits/characteristics of himself, as also shown in the art ^^
