Eridian speculative biology time!

Erid is a very big planet, very very very big planet, twice the size of earth in fact- and divided by oceans, perfect conditions for populations to remain and develop separately and for long enough to create diferent species. So, unlike us, Eridians are a Polytypic genus: there's more than one species of sapient eridian, All of them sharing a common ancestor in the form of a small, 5 legged ambush-hunter land carnivore, all share common traits taking only slightly different evolutionary paths

Divers- get their name from living in semi-flooded caves, their high small vents allow them to be partially submerged without drowning and their long arms allow them to grip things easily underwater, similar to a sea-horse tail

Climbers- similarly, they get their name from their living enviroment, living in very high caves, their long thin arms allow them to grip and climb very steep rock walls, kinda like goats in a way

Drills and Stompers get their name from the shape of their arms, they both developed closer to the surface compared to the others, their arms are like that for dealing with sandstorms, while Drills "drill" themselfs in place, Stompers use their body weight to keep themselfs down

Blocks are very similar to Stompers, but they live in caves much deeper down, so they're quite compact

Common traits between all species: all Eridians can thrum, all Eridians organize in "colonies" like ants or termites (tho the specifics of how each colony works varies), all Eridians are True Carnivores(can only eat meat) and all Eridians are unisex

In theory any one eridian can procreate with any other eridian, between the 5 species there are 4 fertile hybrids and 3 infertile hybrids posible

note: tho each species has a more broad vague shared culture between themselves, none of them are a monolith, all of them have vastly different culture, language, texture, practices and even phenotypes between different colonies around the world

note 2: the fact humans are a monotypic species (there is only one in our genus) is really fucking weird to them

To the disabled people who can’t live alone/without care

To the disabled people with invisible disabilities

To the disabled people who aren’t diagnosed

To the poor disabled people who can’t afford aids, treatment, or even a diagnosis

To the people with disabling mental illnesses/disorders

To the chronically online disabled people

To the disabled people who have fun despite their disability and able bodied people telling them they can't

It's just so fucking stupid. Maybe I just don't understand because I don't have any kids but when I was a teenager my parents always made it very clear to me they couldn't give less of a fuck what my actual grades were so long as I tried my best, and as someone who has always struggled greatly with tests that was the only thing that got me through my GCSEs in high school. If I'd been pressured to get good grades I would've shut down completely and refused to sit the exams. I was already pressured by teachers to get good grades, sometimes directly and sometimes indirectly, and school was hard enough, the last thing I needed was the same pressure from home, and my parents understood that. So they didn't do it. Surprise surprise, my exams went fine even without the pressure to get good grades, and it wasn't the end of the world when I didn't get the highest possible marks

Like it's just not that deep. Yes good grades should be celebrated because your kid worked hard to get them, but if they don't, it isn't because they're disobeying you. Frankly it's disgusting to think a bad grade can ever be disobedience. It's just a stupid grade none of you are going to remember in 20 years time so who fucking cares. A bad grade shouldn't be a big deal. The only reason I can think of that someone would care that much is if they think a child's bad grades reflect badly on their parents, which is so fucking self-centred. It's not about you. It's not about your image. It's about the kid, and it shouldn't fucking matter. It's just a fucking grade

Honestly as I'm typing this I'm realising even the language we use is stupid. "Good grades" "bad grades" it's a fucking grade, why does it have to be a bad thing just because it's low? Who cares? If your kid doesn't get the highest grade and you don't treat it like a big deal, they won't remember that in a decade or two. But they're going to remember if you make them feel like shit for it. Even if you don't mean to pressure them, that shit could stay with them for life, and for what? A mark on a piece of paper? Is that really the most important thing here?

I'm losing my mind I hate talking to stupid parents man. Your kid that got a low grade didn't do anything wrong. It's just a fucking grade why do you care. It's a letter it's a number it doesn't mean anything. Yes you should help them if they're struggling but you should also make it clear it doesn't matter if they can't get their grades up. The ONLY time I can think of where a child's grades should give you concern is if there's a sudden and drastic dip in them that doesn’t make sense, but only because it might be a symptom of something much more serious going on, not because the grades themselves matter
