They go on runs to protect the child if they feel even the slightest threatened no matter where. If the child needs them to go on vacation with them, they do. Bikers come from across the nation to watch over and take shifts for these kids. And the best part is once you’re adopted into this family as a BACA kid, you’re always one. Even when you’re 40 and the perp gets released from jail, they’ll come meet with you and find your best options for avoiding the person and maintaining the life you’ve built for yourself. Once a BACA child, always a BACA child. In Florida, there’s 100% rate for identifying the perp based on the child’s testimony. Why? Because BACA stands with the child and supports the child so they feel comfortable enough to point out their attacker.

They’re in Canada as well and probably other countries. I met and talked with a native guy who runs the place near me. His name is Shaman. I got in, and I’m considered a BACA child now. Despite being 17, turning 18 when I talked to them. They spent time with me when my abuser was over, they gave me therapy resources. They give you something called a ‘level 1′ where they go to your house with as many bikers as they can, i shit you not a solid 20-40 bikers came from even out of province, and met me. I got to choose my biker name and I got a vest with patches on it and my name on it. They all hugged a Teddybear before giving it to me, and told me if I ever felt the BACA bear was running out of love, to give them a call and they’d refill it for me, and then I got a ride on one of their bikes. Just a day or so ago I went to an annual party with them and they we ate food one of them cooked and had a lot of laughs. 

I’ve never felt as loved as I did being a part of the BACA family. They also gave me dog tags with the names, and phone numbers of my 2 workers.  So I can call them whenever I feel scared. 

BACA is an absolutely wonderful group that will do everything in it’s power to help any child whos been abused. 

And it doesn’t end when you’re 18 either. As long as you get in contact/get your level 1 before you’re 18? you’re ALWAYS a BACA kid. I’m 18 now and they still invite me to parties, ask me if I’m okay, and are there for me. They’re still trying to find me resources for therapy. 

BACA has changed my fucking life.

I compare it to Starco in terms of being a “fan fave” the same way I’d compare Willuz to Tomstar because those ships would’ve made sense in the show.

Tomstar fit the whole mewmans vs monsters theme and had it been acknowledged that Tom is a monster, then I think both of them could fix relations. They’d also parallel Eclipsa and Globgor who were another 2 faves of mine. I say that Willuz is the same way. They fit the “weirdos stick together” theme because they were both ostracized and very quickly found comfort and solace in each other. It also would be more original to have 2 girls of color with 2 different body types being together, kinda like Ruby/Sapphire. I’d think they’d also parallel Eda and Raine nicely because I could see that being Luz and Willow, easily.

I didn’t like starco because the two opposite sex main characters getting together is annoying. I thought svtfoe was going in a direction to show that a boy and girl literally can be friends. The blood moon thing wasn’t even a problem because I thought “platonic soulmates”. Their breakups with other characters were forced in order to keep them together which was such a cop out after seeing Tom and Star in a pretty healthy relationship after Tom made the decision to improve himself.

Lumity, in a way, felt the same. As soon as Amity showed up as a yt girl bully, i knew she was gonna be the main one shipped with Luz despite the fact she was completely awful when she thought she was alone. I’m once again, tired of seeing sweet characters being used to redeem terrible ones. It’s one thing if Amity did grapple with how she used to be/how she treated people, but only after Luz, she becomes better. In fact, Luz becomes her motivation for everything and I’m not here for it.

Ofc people are gonna say Luz changed her for the better but Luz shouldn’t have had to change her at all. She should’ve wanted to be better on her own terms. She could’ve just been tired of being mean or at the very least, face the consequences of her actions that makes her think. Something like Willow deciding not to be friends because years of harassment is pretty traumatic or Willow and Gus simply not trusting her because she was Boscha’s right hand. Luz could even be conflicted because on one hand Amity was nice to her but on the other, she was literally Willow’s bully.

This is where Luz I think is so great for Amity. Luz is undinably herself, a weirdo, and at first that is threatening to Amity because she herself can't be. We see this when they have their dual. I still think their relationship holds to the theme that weirdos stick together as well as brings up the point that its ok to be a weirdo. And sometimes its ok to not do exactly what is expected of you. Yes Amity was a bully but I think she was trapped in a position that only Luz was able to help her be brave enough to get out of.

I would’ve preferred to see her want to be around Willow/long for the relationship that Willow, Luz, and Gus had so she’d want to do things on her own with Luz probably encouraging her. My biggest gripe is that pretty much all of Amity’s development fell on Luz. Even Willow’s development revolved around Amity.

But ignoring Amity’s sad violin backstory, it really doesn’t excuse the mistreatment of someone for years and everyone kinda glosses over it. Even when she wasn’t outright nasty, she still managed to be rude and I hate to repeat this point but it lasted YEARS until Luz showed up. That’s what I’m stuck on, she bullied Willow for years(probably Gus too) and it took a crush to stop it.

Like, imagine being bullied by an ex friend and they stopped because they got a crush on your new friend since they hung out. It’s weird. And even when her parents did get Willow, Luz, and Gus expelled, she didn’t jump into action until realizing Luz was in danger. Even then, she brought Willow and Gus along, they got sidelined and we got “stay away from my Luz”.
