Crafters hubris doesnโt usually hit me this hard, but yesterday I saw this English Paper Piecing pattern by PorcupineSewsThreads and thought to myself โI can make thatโ despite epp not being one of my disciplines.

Another reject star for this quilt! It's cute, but I think I want something bigger for the last one. I save the rejects and extras and whenever possible sneak them into other quilts. This quilt has several repurposed blocks and partial blocks, in fact. I kind of like the way this quilt looks upside down! It's giving me ideas. Maybe for something on a light background with a sun at the top and flowers. Or bugs. Or both. Huh. I'm going to think about that. With two quilts nearly done the piecing stage it's time to set myself up for the next piecing project. This particular quilt will go right to basting and quilting, but the other one gets applique, which will take a bit longer.
Sometimes, in order to not succumb to the โ I gotta MAKE something [of my] today!โ feeling, you gotta do something that has literally no value but makes you happy.
Everyoneโs crabby because itโs too hot to be gardening/moving boxes/running to the tip but not me, Iโm gluing pretty paper scraps together.

being an everything crafter is great but also sucks. like i want to get my watercolors out but i need to put away my microcrochet first. i want to do some leatherwork but my oil paints are on the table. i want to whittle but i'm using the bucket i catch wood shavings in to hold my papermaking mush. i want to write my book but my hands are too busy knitting a sweater. i want to code another video game but i'm too busy studying nalebinding. do you see my problem. the problem is that i need more hands

So Iโm knitting socks and I found a base pattern I like. Would it be wrong for me to find color work work ups and just apply them to the base pattern that I enjoy using and make adjustments based on the stitch count for the base pattern? Like, does that work? Or am I breaking knitting rules doing that?
Tale as old as time; you start with one hole and you think, oh yeah, I can darn that, no problem.

Complete ran out of steam. I know there are more, or at least there are a lot of vulnerable threads in this 40+ year old wool beret that was my mumโs before it was mine, but I might just have to reinvest in some felting needles and felt all the other bits because thereโs only so much a girl can take.
Thereโs a show coming up, and I think Iโm going to be able to eke this thing out in time to enter it!
You can probably see some lighter spots of the red; that is from where I scratched some away in order to neaten up some lines. They should even out once fired.

Finished the duplicate stitch on my Tunisia holiday socks. Embroidered symbols of Tanit, the Punic goddess associated with wisdom, crafts, the moon and defending the home.
I find duplicate stitch laborious but still 10x better than colourwork (my tension gets so screwy) and Iโve learnt that maybe if I do the STH again I should make the foot of the sock maybe half an inch smaller to accommodate how two repeats is deep enough but does not achieve the 90 degree angle one usually gets with a heelโฆ
All in all though the socks are comfy and were around my 2week mark from start to finish. Once I got past the toe, the shorties were very satisfying to use too; and no jog/join marks on either sock this time!

Seeing as this is the first time in a very long while Iโve done plushie making, very very pleased with this, heโs exceedingly cute but I will admit not totally lamb shaped. I have enough to make another (and possibly a third) so maybe tomorrow Iโll do a second one with bigger ears and eyes, longer legs, and smaller body.
Love a pattern as a starting point!! ๐
I worked out what was bugging me!!
Is highland coo (cow) shaped which means I need to give him a different tail, maybe some horns and possibly but some synthetic dye?
This (unfinished) lil guy is more lamb shaped.
Motivated to do some dying thatโs been on the Scarleystars Pile for yonks now. Behold! The highland coo shaped plushie has finally been given a dye bath!!! (Plus a pair of fingerless gloves that were the wrong shade of army green)
Weighed down by a stone each the gloves are in synthetic black and the coo is in a mix of synthetic sand and apricot.
Could not have predicted that colour would come out so well!!
Gotta let him dry them stuff him again and sew back on the labels.

Apologies to those who are waiting for the finished piece from this post. I had to put it aside for a moment to focus on creating gifts for my loved ones' birthdays that are coming up. So instead of the end result of the previous project, here is another work in progress - it's going to be a space-themed wall hanging! My boyfriend's workspace and taste are very celestial, and we both love stargazing and moon worship. I will publish the finished version as well once it's displayed โจ๐
