Can I be honest with yall I don't want to hear SHIT against cishets at pride this year
"But it's not FOR them!!!" The biggest military power in the world belongs to a christofascist nation overseen by a felon found guilty of 34 federal crimes and has greenlit a gestapo with more direct funding than the entire military of Canada for the purpose of ethnic cleansing. Let Hetero Jessica throw some biodegradable glitter at a municipal parade
(X)

ok sorry to double reblog BUT I just looked him up and he does these fantastic videos where he breaks down HOW he actually mimics the other artistsâ styles. Like for ed Sheeran, he explains how he brings his voice forward in the mouth, while Adam Levine sings in the back of the mouth, stuff like that. Itâs SO COOL, I donât think Iâve ever seen anyone actually break down how to do this sort of thing, as a skill, instead of just treating it like a neat trick they just happen to be good at. https://www.tiktok.com/@justinjmooremusic
Check him out heâs so cool
pride month!!!

Shout out to trans women who arenât computer scientists or musicians or avant-garde artists or whatever.
Shout-out to tgirls who work at Taco Bell. Thank u queen, society would collapse without you
Over twenty years ago my big brother got me a job at a Taco Bell in the St. Louis suburbs-West County. He warned me that it was the âgay Taco Bellâ, but since I was coming from the âgay Howard Johnsonâsâ I wasnât shocked. It turns out it was the black trans women Taco Bell complete with black trans women in management. And theyâd worked out an arrangement with the local teen Narcotics Anonymous group so that twice a week we would shut down the drive thru and the dining room and exclusively serve 60+ teens in various stages of recovery. And many of the women I worked with were in various stages of being out or transitioning and they were from all generations from teens to over 50. One woman I worked with had a regular corporate job presenting as a man 9-5 Mon-Fri and then came to Taco Bell and worked 6pm -2am Friday and Saturday night so she could be herself surrounded by other black transwomen in those stolen weekends. And we had customers come from all over the metro area because they knew they could be themselves in the dining room. I only worked there from 1999-2001 but for young me, this was a vital, formative experience. Some of the girls came from north city all the way out to the âgay Taco Bellâ on Manchester in west county because they heard it was safe to work there. Like- I know times have changed but they havenât changed much in 20 years. Iâm still convinced that for lgbt youth, finding a job at your cityâs version of the âgay Taco Bellâ is key to survival.
Thank u for sharing this with us
"Stop saying 15 year olds with weird interests are cringe, they're 15" this is true however you should also stop saying adults with weird interests are cringe because who gives a shit
To wit:
I want to share some wisdom from my high school art teacher.
In my AP Art class, there was a girl who was just starting to experiment with mixed media. At this point she was still playing around, trying to decide what direction she wanted to go with her portfolio. So one critique day, she brought in an abstract canvas with some rhinestone highlights and painted and real peacock feathers. She loved sparkles and peacock feathers so she thought sheâd try introducing them a *little*. And after everyone had given some input, the teacher gave her his advice, VERY roughly paraphrased here:
âSo hereâs the thing⌠I do not like this style. These are just elements that do not speak to me personally, but I see that you like them, and youâre doing interesting things with them.
âMy biggest critique is, I only merely *dislike* this piece. I want you to make me HATE it. Go crazy with the things that you like. Donât hold back trying to make it palatable to people like me. Because I am NEVER going to like it. And if the audience does not like it, it should drive them crazy seeing how much YOU love it.â
Her portfolio was chock full of neon colors and glitter and rhinestones and splashes of peacock feathers and it was a delight. Our teacher despised every piece lol, but she got great marks and I think even won some awards. And more importantly, she was happy and proud of the results. Because she didnât limit herself by trying to appeal to people who were never going to enjoy what she enjoyed.
Takeaway here: be as cringe as you want. Donât limit yourself based on other pplâs tastes. Theyâre not you, and you are incredible đ
This is the most inspirational thing I've read all week. Possibly all year

âCave Johnson here. Iâve received complaints from anonymous employees that our support of the âhomosexual lifestyleâ is âdegenerateâ and âirresponsibleâ. It really got me thinking and I think I found a solution. So good news! We now have 23 vacated positions reserved for members of the LGBT community. Additional good news, we began a new testing initiative on evolutionary degenration with 23 test subjects all ready to go.â
âCave Johnson here. If youâre experiencing a time loop in which youâre repeating the month of June over and over, thatâs totally intentional. We at Aperture Science felt that pride month was not long enough and so we created this loop to let employees experience as much pride as they feel like. To get out of this loop, simply use the pod labeled âTime Machineâ in Shaft 6 and then either kill or save the baby on the other end depending on when in the loop youâre on. Donât worry about the babyâs identity, he grows up to be an asshole.â
âCave Johnson here, happy to announce that our Rainbow Gel project was a massive success. We have developed distinct gels in every color of the rainbow pride flag. In fact, it was too much of a success, so weâll be updating our pride flag accordingly to include 75 new colors corresponding to all of our new gels. Word of advice, though, donât stare at the flag for too long, most of these colors havenât been tested on human eyes yet.â
âCave Johnson here, Cave Johnson queer. Get used to it.â
âCave Johnson here. Caroline just informed me that I am her âbeardâ. I checked, and I fail to see how I could possibly have grown out of her face. If anybody knows anything about human-to-facial hair transmogrification, please report to my office.â
âCave Johnson here. Friendly reminder that Aperture employees living prior to the legalization of gay marriage are invited to use our Aperture Science Temporal Matrimony Pod in order to travel to the future with your same-sex partner and get married there. Employees from the future who wish to return to a time before gay people being able to marry are also welcome to use the pod and weâll make sure to send you to an era well before gay marriage. Iâm thinking maybe Late Cretacesous.â
âCave Johnson here. Iâm proud to announce that our plan to hire only female test subjects to prevent them from flirting with our female scientists has been a resounding failure.â
âCave Johnson here. Iâm afraid weâll have to temporarily pause all experimentation with the Gender Affirmation Beam. The testing itself is going great, the beam is working. But weâre starting to run out of thigh high socks and khaki shorts.â
âCave Johson here. Shafts 10 through 14 are currently under lockdown due to a meltdown in the Neopronoun Syntheizer. The transphobes up in DC might call that âa disaster in the makingâ but I call it a win for diversity! That being said most of these pronouns are radioactive so do watch out.â
Cave Johnson here. If you feel a sudden sense of elation and contentness when putting on your new Aperture Science unisex uniform, that is not Gender Euphoria! Thatâs a hallucinogenic fungus taking over your brain. Take the uniform off immediately and throw it in the nearest incinerator.â
âCave Johnson here. I wonât tolerate any misgendering of the interdimensional invaders swarming the facility! Their pronouns are they/them and weâre ought to respect that. Weâre also ought to shoot them on sight since theyâre extremely hostile and bent on enslaving our planet.â
âCave Johnson here. To all of my suitors and secret admirers: Thank you, honestly Iâm flattered. Unfortunately for you, I donât swing that way. Or any way. I only swing where the wrecking ball of science takes me. Usually into a brick wall.â
âCave Johnson here. Iâve been thinking. We have gay pride, and we have gender envy. What other deadly sins can we incorporate? Maybe bisexual sloth? Lesbian wrath? Iâll talk to the lab boys about it.â
âCave Johnson here. Update: The Lesbian Wrath project is postponed indefinitely. My condolences to the families of the deceased. Though letâs be honest, they probably had it coming.â
âCave Johnson here. For the last time! âIâm reclaiming the slurâ is not a valid excuse to shout out loud the killer androidsâ activation codes! We picked that word for a reason.â
âCave Johnson here. Iâd like to apologize to Floor 194 Safety Supervisor Doug Blakely for firing him after allegations that he was forcing employees back in the closet. I was not aware that said closet was a literal storage closet for zombified Aperture employees. To make it up to Doug, heâll be allowed to feed Floor 194 HR Manager Lisa Briant to the closet zombies if he so chooses.â
âCave Johnson here. A reminder that next year Transgender Day of Visibility falls on Extradimensional Day of Visibility. The lab boys are cautioning me to caution you to be prepared. Do not confuse transgender and transdimensional! Big mistake.â
âCave Johnson here. To all cishet Aperture employees who volunteered for the âGet More Wokeâ program, please report to your departmentâs OR at the nearest convenience to get the alarm clocks surgically removed from your spinal cord. Aperture Science apologizes for the misunderstanding.â
âCave Johnson here. Dr. Barnaby from Cyborg Engineering is an attack helicopter. Thatâs not a transphobic joke, by the way, they literally transformed themselves into an amalgam of human and helicopter. Impressive. Unauthorized, of course, but still impressive. Anyway, we lost track of them, so everyone watch the sky for a mad scientist with blue rotors and machine guns.â
âCave Johnson here. To the joker who added âmake the sun gayâ to our quarterly agenda, I hope youâre pleased with yourself. The Astrophysics Department is tearing itself apart with half of them shouting that you canât make the sun gay and the other half screaming that the sun is already gay. Either way, weâre not doing it.â
âCave Johnson here. The congressional delegation of Senator Patrick Johnson (no relation) to inspect our facilities had to be cut short due to a mishap with the Gender Affirmation Beam. Iâd like to apologize on behalf of Aperture Science to Senator Johnson and her staff.â
âCave Johnson here. Just the other day, our sign guy asked me âCave, donât you think LGBTQIA2S+ is a tad too long?â and I told him âFirst of all, thatâs Mr. Johnson to you! And secondly, I actually think itâs not long enough!â and thatâs why Iâm adding an â&â to the acronym. Donât know what it stands for yet, but Iâll figure it out.â
âCave Johnson here. You already know that here in Aperture Science weâre all about gender affirming care. Weâve been at the forefront of hormone replacement therapy since before we knew what these hormones do. You also know that here in Aperture Science weâre all about not getting sued. So everyone be quiet about our role in the Estrogen Cola disaster.â
thank you to trees and also rain
Jane Austen Characters That Give Me Some Queer Vibes
This is my personal list and my personal vibes, I am not saying that anyone else is wrong but giving my personal impressions. They are all headcanon. I am very happy to hear your theories and your vibes!
Sir Walter Elliot, Persuasion: Okay, dude totally has a crush on this Colonel Wallis whom heâs been parading around Bath with arm-in-arm. He is most likely pansexual: attracted to anyone who is a 10/10. Unfortunately he sees himself as a 11/10, so maybe not the best partner.Â
Emma Woodhouse, Emma: She feels the need to staunchly defend the beauty of Jane Fairfax. Admires the beauty of both Harriet and Jane Fairfax but does not dwell on Mr. Elton or Frank Churchill, whom she does acknowledge are hot. Either she only has eyes for Knightley or sheâs actually got some feelings for women. I will also accept some flavour of asexual/aromantic. Emma has vibes of some unspecified sort.
Charlotte Lucas, Pride and Prejudice: Sheâs on this list because she must be, she doesnât actually give me queer vibes. I see Charlotte as highly pragmatic. The fact that she doesnât consider romance doesnât speak to me of her being a flavour of asexual or aromantic. I think you can account for Charlotteâs behaviour by her being highly loss adverse. This may be because I would probably make the same decision as her and I have extremely high loss aversion and was very anxious to get married as a young person.
Fanny Price, Mansfield Park: I know what you are thinking, donât I mean Mary Crawford? No. We know exactly why Mary Crawford wants to be friends with Fanny, sheâs bored. Fanny is not bored, doesnât even like Mary, and views her as competition. And yet, Fanny admires her beauty, loves to look at her, and cannot even explain to herself why she keeps visiting (Fanny went to her every two or three days: it seemed a kind of fascination: she could not be easy without going). I can explain, Fanny! (Now do I think Mary Crawford would be down? Absolutely)
Fitzwilliam Darcy, Pride and Prejudice: This guy, heâs got vibes. Heâs twenty-eight years old and yet has never really been so attracted to a woman before. He talks about what should attract him to a woman as if itâs a list heâs memorised. I read this very persuasive argument that heâs demisexual and Iâm all for it.
Anne Steele, Sense and Sensibility: She is obsessed with Marianne Dashwood. Tracking what clothes she wears, calling her beautiful, wanting to barge in to see her in her bedroom despite rules of propriety. Anne has a very obvious crush on the lovely Marianne.
Edit: I forgot about Tom Bertram, Mansfield Park. What speaks to me there is his inability to read social cues in women, like how he canât tell if they are in or out. He doesnât seem very concerned with love at all and prefers to hang with his male friends. Gay vibes.
Ok so my kid had an ear infection, right? As kids often do.
The doctor scraped out a bit of earwax to have a better look inside.
I was sent a bill for $200 PER EAR for this 5 second procedure which I did not give permission for them to do.
That was key- they did not ASK me if they could do this "procedure". And, as I OWN a medical practice (it's me. The medical practice is me, sitting in my house on video calls) I knew to call them when this bill came in to be like "You did not obtain informed consent for this procedure, and it was not en emergency procedure. You had full ability to gain my consent and didn't. I'm not paying."
And the massive hospital who owned the bill said "yuh-huh you do have to pay."
And I said "I own a practice. I know these laws. I do not owe you money for this."
And they conducted an "internal review" and SURPRISE! Decided I totally owed them money and they had never done anything wrong ever.
And so I called my state's Attorney General office, and explained the situation because, as I mentioned, I know the law. The AG got in touch within a couple days to say they were taking the case and would send the massive hospital conglomerate a knock it off, guys letter.
Lo and Behold, today I have a letter where said hospital graciously has agreed to forfeit the payment.
"How not to get screwed over by companies" should be part of civics class.
Know your rights and know who to call when they're infringed on. This whole process cost me $0 and honestly less effort than I would have expected.
May this knowledge find its way to someone else who can use it.
This post is super cute and all but like.... This isn't practical advice. I called the AG???? And they got involved over a $200 bill. Maybe because you yourself are a medical practitioner. Not just your knowledge but also your status.
Civics class wouldn't help most people in this case because the AG will not take on all these cases and most people cannot afford an attorney in this instance or more importantly, the hit to their credit.
The issue is not education over the system, it is the system
I agree the system is a mess but I think education does matter because people seem not to know that this is actually perfectly routine AG office stuff. Iâm not the only person whoâs done this- this is just what they do?
Were they going to get into a lawsuit over my $400 bill? No obviously not. But they printed up a letter on fancy letterhead to say to stop and it worked. They followed up with me the next day to be sure, and so ask how much money they had saved me.
They use dinky cases like mine to track habitual misbehavior of large scale companies to build cases they could actually go to court over.
And because people are shocked- I never spoke to the AG of my state directly. He operates mainly by overseeing a whole crew of people. And this is what those people do.
This didnât happen because Iâm special because of my tiny therapy practice.
This happened because this is what the AG office is for.
âThe problem is systemicâ doesnât mean âand thereâs nothing you can doâ.
This is a systemic problem but that doesnât mean there are no resources to help.
Thank you for clapping back on this. I'm here to reinforce. Yes, you CAN call your state Attorney General office when an entity is doing something illegal, even if it's "only" for $400. You think they don't care a hospital is doing a crime because it's not a big enough crime?
Then you've been trained well by "The System".
Yes, that System you say can't be fought? Where did you get that idea, huh? Who taught you that "small" acts of illegality don't matter? Who made you think that there's no point in fighting back because it will all come to nothing?
Might it be the same entities that benefit if you believe all that?
Gonna pause and let you ponder.
Never. Ever. EVER.
EVER.
Let companies or corporations or hospitals or organizations or any business big or small get away with screwing you over without a fight. Maybe you personally don't win every fight, but you lose 100% of the time you don't try. You'll win more often than you think you will. I know cuz I've done it.
So have others. Attorneys General offices bring lawsuits against businesses all the time. They do so because citizens contacted them to say "someone is doing a crime" and the crime doers did not stop when told and got into way more trouble than if they'd just stopped. FAFO. The Find Out can't happen if you don't even bother to report the Fucking Around.
On that note, as OP said, please know your rights! And, in a situation where you don't but suspect something is hinky, ask! The people of the internet can help! So can librarians! So can many others. Find out what is and is not okay for them to do. If it's not okay, report them! See something, say something.
Don't let the System win by default.
Fight, damnit!
Additionally, pay attention to State Attorney elections! Here in Minnesota, our AG Keith Ellison has made it a POINT to go after slumlords, has created an entire UNIT in the AG office dedicated to wage theft, and gone after debt relief for people who were conned by those scummy fake universities. And despite MN being a blue state, one of his elections was a fucking NAIL-BITER.
Absolutely fight the system, absolutely go to your AG office if youâre being screwed over, and also pay attention to the people running for AG in the first place.
Government of the people, by the people, and for the people only works if the people make it work. That's you! You're the people.
"Don't bother doing anything because nothing will happen" confused cause with effect: it's really "Nothing will happen if you don't bother doing anything." Yeah, I know, it's a travesty that they don't hand you psychic powers when you take your oath as a civil servant, but until we fix that clear defect in our democracy: you're serving the public, too, when you report fuckers like this.
Not gonna leave this in the tags:
Sending it around again.

I think the mark of a realistic writer is having antagonists who act out of self interest instead of pure cruelty, and understanding the difference.
John Dashwood in Sense & Sensibility is great example. He is very self interested, but he doesn't want to be viewed poorly in society:
He was not an ill-disposed young man, unless to be rather cold hearted and rather selfish is to be ill-disposed: but he was, in general, well respected; for he conducted himself with propriety in the discharge of his ordinary duties.
As much as I really doubt he cares at all about his stepmother and three half sisters, he's not going to throw them out of the house until they've found somewhere good to stay because he doesn't want it to reflect poorly on himself. He won't actually do much for them, but he also won't do them active harm, because that is the action of maximal self interest. Yet he's still very much an antagonist and causes pain.
Caroline Bingley of Pride & Prejudice "dropped all her resentment" because self interest is more important to her than cruelty. She may not like Elizabeth Darcy or be happy about Jane Bingley, but she will not prioritize snarky comments above her all important connections. Self interest wins.
In Elizabeth Gaskell's Wives and Daughters, the new Mrs. Gibson, Hyacinth Clare, does not care about her stepdaughter Molly at all. However, self interest dictates that she treats Molly well, because she doesn't want to disrupt her relationship with Molly's father or become talked about as a cruel stepmother in the town. She is a very selfish character, I honestly doubt she cares if Molly or her own daughter Cynthia live or die, but that self interest dictates that she give at least the appearance of kindness. She still causes a lot of distress in Molly through her "kindness," because it is rooted in selfishness.
In the end, I think self interest is just a more plausible driver of actions. There are people who are cruel for cruelty's sake, but I think they are rare and usually have profound grudges or something driving them to that. (Mrs. Norris from Mansfield Park is probably the closest in Austen's works and I think her motivation is feeling inferior so she needs to punch down to feel better about herself.) More realistic to me are people who act in their self interest and don't really care about the harm. I think most of Austen's antagonists can better be described as careless than outright cruel.
you have to be kinder to people with memory issues.
you have to be kinder to people who are slow processors.
you have to be kinder to people who don't understand your jokes.
you have to be kinder to people who forget important dates.
you have to be kinder to people with cognitive decline.
you have to be kinder to people who were always this way, too.
you have to be kind. you have to be kind.
