her name was Juniper Blessing, she was 19 and she was just doing her laundry
From one of her friends on a Reddit post.
Only thing from the Met Gala that matters btw
ssiiiigh of course my fave is the ugly little blue villain who always gets his ass kicked
There is something sooo deeply American going on with Seattle Children’s Hospital that I think would brick the minds of everyone outside of the United States.
The CHILDRENS hospital has to restrict helipad landings because of noise complaints from the wealthy home owners living next to it. Only the most urgent patients can land directly at the hospital. While the other kids have to land a mile away and are taken to the hospital via ambulance. Which is an unnecessary risk to the child’s life and also makes the families pay for the helicopter AND ambulance.
The hospital says some limits on helipad access add pressure when children need lifesaving care.
Apparently this has been going on for decades and is only getting traction because a pilot complained on Twitter.
The article says there are "3 or fewer helicopter transports per week". God forbid you have to hear a loud noise a couple times a week just so a child can get lifesaving medical care.
I think those people should have their homes turned into free temporary housing for out-of-town families with kids in the hospital, actually.

Instead of doomscrolling lately I have been reading my PDFs and it turns out if you do this you learn a whole bunch of stuff. I’m afraid I must recommend it
the thing that really cheeses my cake about flies getting in my house is they clearly don't want to be there anyway. like at least the ants trying to steal cereal from my pantry had a goal and a plan. you are just here because you're too stupid to use a window twice
I wish people would post more positive memes about writing. I feel like the more we bitch about our hobbies the more we start to resent them. Is writing hard work? Yes. But is that necessarily a bad thing? No. If people dislike writing, why do it? I personally don’t want to resent my hobbies.
"Therapy speak social media encourages some (but by and large quite a lot) of people to obsess over the moral minutiae of largely trivial & strictly interpersonal interactions" is something that I am starting to think with more conviction to be honest with you
Maybe it's not even "therapy speak" necessarily that's the root of the problem but moreso the fact that there's seemingly a lot money in creating endless content to shore up a masturbatory kind of "wellness" which abhors and flees from "negative emotions" (in oneself and in others) while encouraging ppl to diagnose one another as "negative emotion haver, evil toxic girl who should be killed for saying the wrong thing" as if we're all in the crucible together or smth. I guess it makes ppl feel better about themselves. But also everyone's ex is a malignant narcissist and everyone's ex best friend is an evil manipulator so like who is driving the car then

OP of this collection got deleted but the other one i reblogged made me remember this so i must spread the word
marathon durandal ass images
hi hello i’m obsessed with these
I’m sorry my lovelies but the reason you hate yourself is because you treat you like shit. If you came up to me and then told me I was a fuck up who could never do anything right I'd fucking hate you too.
if you didn't let me go to bed until after midnight because you'd rather watch Netflix than let me rest, and then got mad at me for not being productive the next day I'd be PISSED
You keep calling me a fatass but you tell other overweight people they’re beautiful? Why do you keep shitting on MY weight, then?
Oh? It’s different if it’s me? Wow fuck you too
Love is a verb! Self love isn’t a warm fuzzy feeling, it is compassion and action in support of yourself!
And yes, this includes having compassion for the bully in your head. Unfortunately that part is also you and deserves as much of your understanding as the rest of you.
via @corazondebeskar
This is the real reason why you need to be kind to the bully in your brain too, because that motherfucker is really good at doing a switcheroo when you're not paying attention.
sometimes i think love triangles should be resolved by polyamory but badly like everyone’s still mad
this one . i missed this . that great you can go ahead and order it
(in case no one has said this to you in a while) i am proud of you for continuing to exist when it feels impossible

just got phone call from my neurologist WHO IS ON VACATION may his name never be erased, basically being like. "ok so your insurance is trying to kill you. I've referred dozens of people to Duke for this and this has never happened. they're being purposefully confusing and sending us all in circles. they keep sending me forms asking ME to agree to pay for your treatment no matter how many times I explain that I am THE REFERRING PHYSICIAN. so here's what you're going to do-" and gave us instructions on what to do when the health insurance corporation is trying to kill you
this is not his job. his job is being my neurologist.
his job is not "call patients after hours while I'm on vacation because I'm afraid if I don't give them this guidance their insurance company might murder them and so even though this isn't my job it feels like a fucking hostage situation"
anyway. he confirmed that the shit my insurance has been pulling for a month and a half is explicitly Trying To Kill The Patient behavior. told us to get everything in writing. sending us a whole packet of every single relevant form and piece of paperwork so we have it all on hand. told us to contact the patient advocate and if that doesn't work, we're going to have to go outside the company entirely and get the state insurance ombudsman involved.
so. that's fun. and a totally productive use of everyone's time and resources. I've had insurance companies be shitty to me but I've never been the Patient They're Explicitly Trying To Kill before. like I've never had them throw this much energy at blocking a procedure this lifesaving. it actually feels even worse than I thought it would!
keep thinking about how I wrote in my dissertation about how every time a new form of public/social space emerges it's immediately popular with kids and teenagers who see it as a chance at freedom and then adults colonise it and kick them out. this happened with malls in the 80s and diners in the 50s and pool halls in the 20s. my dad was doing research on this trend in like 1975. and I was like "yeah so this is going to happen to the internet" and then five years later every government suddenly decided to ban kids from everywhere online. I hate being right especially when I don't even get paid for it
I'm intensely interested in this as someone who worls with The Youth.
