🌊 Italian Writer. Ideas are like waves: they travel. 📖 WIPs: Legacy of the Yew & Stories the Seagull Told Me. 🐚 Identity: Neurodivergent & Disabled | She/Her | Demisexual. 🖋️ Content: chapters or sneek peeks from my WIPs, storytelling hacks, reflections, and reblogs.
🌊 Welcome to the Orca Pod! Here’s a Navigation Chart
Hi! I’m Orca Raminga, a writer with a mind constantly swimming between hundreds of different waves. Sometimes I chill on the surface, sometimes I go deeper.
In Italian the word 'raminga' describes a person who wanders. Depending on the context, it translates to Wanderer, Wayfarer, or Roamer. For me it’s about a restless curiosity and mind. It implies traveling without a fixed destination, sometimes a lonely road… sometimes driven by a desire to explore. While I do have my goals, I find the greatest value in the process, because it’s the journey that truly counts. That is why I chose 'Raminga' as part of my username:
"Not all those who wander are lost."
Ramingo is also one of the words used to describe Aragorn (that’s how in the italian versions of LOTR you call him as Ranger).
I must admit I did not choose Orca because of how amazing orcas are or because of the inspiring simbology, but… just because I like them. Eh, not everything must be that deep!
🖋️About Me
You can call me both Orca or Raminga (she/her).
I am a 29 yo from Italy. I decided to change career after the end of COVID-19 and right now I am a social sciences student who’ll graduate by the end of 2026, but I’ve always been a writer at heart, and that is probably the one thing in my life that will never, ever change.
I am cisgender and demisexual. I am a late-diagnosed ADHD adult and I suspect I am also on the spectrum as a level 1 autistic. I am also disabled due to a variety of issues.
I started this blog because every Orca needs a pod: a pack, basically. And I feel the need to share my writing and my thoughts. Humans and Orcas are both social animals after all.
I will post prompts (in written form or as something I drew/painted), tips (here), the occasional comment on a story I really liked, I'll get pissed off every now and then, obviously for political reasons (I am anti-censorship, pro-queer, pro-choice, intersectional feminist)
There will also be days when I'll reblog off-topic stuff or post something random for variety—hey, I am ADHD after all! But my love for stories and writing will never change. My personal Sea has always been Ink.
BUT I started using tumblr mainly to share my writing. Here is a guide to my current WIPs:
🐚 Stories the Seagull Told Me
Status: 60% Written | Language: English | Genre: Lyrical Dark Fantasy
A collection of short stories and poems similar to dark fairytales. It explores themes of death and rebirth in a bittersweet, melancholic way. Dark fairytales and myth-shaped whispers carried by the wings of an old seagull. Obscure but not horrifying atmospheres. I started writing this collection to process a family mourning a few years ago, and things evolved from there with this liminal journey through shadows, memories, and the quiet magic of things that refuse to be simply light or simply dark.
Some of the titles: The Shadow’s Groom (Enemies to Lovers), The Maiden and the Stag (a shamanic journey, a dream?), The Ballade of the Survived Ones (a bittersweet ballad with a satirical touch).
Vibes: Saltwater, spirits, witches and familiars, (mostly but not always) mediterrean melancholia, mythic rebirth.
📖 Read the Chapters:
Introduction of the Seagull [AO3 | Tumblr]
For the other chapters read the bottom of the post
🌿 Legacy of the Yew
Status: Drafting Book 1 (Trilogy) | Language: Italian (Original) / English (Sneak Peeks)
A (mostly) dual-POV urban fantasy saga about family legacies, wizard terrorists, and the sheer exhaustion of dealing with magical bureaucracy and politics.
Saoirse is fifteen, with a damaged memory and a father who ignores her. Niall is two centuries old, has thirteen cats, and is on the verge of a nervous breakdown. She's a witch who didn't know it. He's her vampire grandfather who erased her memories to protect her. In a magical world as corrupt as the human one, they must decide whether to run away from the past and thus risking the future, or actually do something about it.
👁️ Sneak Peeks & Translated Scenes:
#1 A Strange Stray Dog
#2 A rather strange school subject
Rant about Worldbuilding, the cool ideas of Tumblr and code of ethics for psychic psychotherapists
First spoilers about my WIPs
✨ Character Spotlights:
Saoirse
Niall
Renata (coming soon)
Cillian (coming soon)
Elpìs "Ellie" (coming soon)
Carya (coming soon)
Takashi (coming soon)
Kiyomizu (coming soon)
etc
🏄♀️ Standalone works
Stories and thoughts I've written that are independent from my two main projects. Inspired by internet prompts, writing exercises or my daily life:
The Missing Ingredient: How to Exorcise a Rude Demon [AO3]
Storytime: a personal anecdote about speed dating
Gazing at the Black Ocean as an adult
🍣 Wanna offer me a salmon nigiri?
I believe stories should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their budget. But for stories to be born, creators need a bit of fuel. Or in my case, sushi. I am an Orca, after all.
I opened a Ko-fi where you can support me to help me fund professional editing and the full English translation of Legacy of the Yew in the future. You can offer me a nigiri. Or a coffee. There's always a need for coffee.☕
I don't really love paywalls, so your support acts as a "community unlock" helping me reach goals that will allow me to share the final, polished versions of my WIP with everyone.
Your support on Ko-fi acts as a collective key:
Right now the content unlocked will be regarding Stories a Seagull Told Me. When we reach a monthly goal, I publish the next chapter (either a short poetry or a oneshot) for everyone to read on AO3 and Tumblr.
Donations will help me fund professional editing and the time needed for the English translation of Legacy of the Yew in the future.
This way you are not just buying a story; you’re making sure that story exists for the whole world. Some of my writing will be free anyway (like my standalone One-shots) but it would be a big, BIG help. If you cannot support me economically, don’t worry; you can always share my content and my writing. That would be very helpful too 💕
Regardless, thanks for reading this far; it means a lot to me.
If you have any doubts, questions, or even constructive criticism, don't hesitate to ask or comment on the post.

So, I just finished binge watching The Dragon Prince.
I have my doubts about some narrative choices... but overall I love it.
While we wait for The Dragon King, can someone reccomend a good fanfiction in which the other Startouch Elves get a well deserved, cosmically balanced kick in the ass?
I—
I just want to BEAT the Ever-Loving Cosmic Shit Out of Them
But I CAN'T WRITE FICS NOW
BECAUSE I HAVE UNIVERSITY
And TWO ORIGINAL PROJECTS
And STUFF
But I really really want to see them getting slapped in the face with an archdragon-sized brick.
Just to add context, the director wanted the scene to use an 85mm lens which is slightly telephoto. Telephoto lenses give a very intimate feel because they compress the scene. Background and foreground objects can appear larger at longer focal lengths.
But that compression can also make objects look the wrong size in context with the subject depending on the framing.
This is done in live action as well using another person's hands in front of the camera.
Or sometimes they create giant fake hands like in Hellboy.
“In the main menu of Mario Power Tennis, Toad is present to explain the selection options. It appears as though Toad is close to the background and roughly the same size as the icons. However, moving the viewpoint reveals that Toad is actually extremely tiny and extremely close to the camera (note Toad near the left edge of the screen in the bottom image).”
this gif is perfectly timed because it gives you enough time to read it, comprehend it, and still have this too-long-for-comfort moment of suspense before being punched square in the solar plexus
I was high off my ass last night and had this dream where I was in this dense ass forest and sitting there was a tall woman. She was so tall I couldn’t see her face but she was wearing gold and I was like “uh…hi?” And she said “I made you, do you know that?” And I nodded and she was like “I hear your thoughts. Why do you hate my creation? Why do you try to destroy yourself? I made you perfect as you are. Please don’t break my heart”. Then she started crying and it flooded and I woke up with fucking heart palpitations like what does it Mean™️????

"I want to live in a world in which teenagers can fulfil their natural purpose of being annoying" and "I do not always want to be annoyed by the teenagers" are compatible sentiments
#I get so happy when I’m annoyed by teenagers in public#because it’s like#these kids are forming communities outside of their parents!#they aren’t shackled by school or soccer or clubs their parents put them in#they have the initiative and confidence to make their own social connections#it’s so so cool that I’m out of touch with what they’re saying and doing#because it means they have lives of their own (tags via @elongated-twink)
You! You are the only person who has correctly understood this post. The point is not that they should go be annoying somewhere else, it's that being annoyed by teenagers in normal public places, while annoying, is a good thing. It is a sign of societal health. We adults just need to be ok with the fact that we're going to be annoyed sometimes.
So, it's a bit of a rough period with uni. I struggle a bit to catch up with stuff, online and offline. On the bright side, I met on the italian side of Instagram an indie collective of readers/writers/editors and I'm having a lot of fun chatting/interacting with them.
Today I had to take part of the administrative law exam, but it didn't go well, and I was a bit disappointed. Luckily, I have a very helpful professor, and a few colleagues and I will probably meet with him for clarification about some topics before the next exam.
The internship is deadly boring.
Don't worry, I am still writing the LOTY saga and the collection of short stories/poems. ❤️
For the friends who follow/tag me: I read you, but sometimes I'm too tired to comment, share, or interact😬

I got "The girl who sells sea shells by the sea shore"
Uh
This job could LITERALLY kill me cause im ALLERGIC to shellfish.
@lio-the-chaotic-nonbeanie-weenie @poppbubble @altism @rottingcicada and anyone else who wants to give this a shot!!
Why the fuck it's not a common practice yet in the world to put some Fucking Trigger Warning at the beginning of a book
I hate trauma porn so much and I am not even that sensitive to difficult topics but like when the author sucks and uses abuse just to shock the audience without any actual usefulness to the plot or characters' development... I hate it.
And this book I was reading was a mistery/detective novel, it's not like it was marketed as grimdark (in that case I would not have bought it, since it's not my thing).
Also it's a book full of stereotypes and at this point I think this Sicilian writer has internalized anti-Southernism. FFS
This is why as a writer we need good editors to tell us when we fuck up! Who edited that shit?
In front of you are 11 doors, and a box. You can only open one, each leading you to a different prize (or in this case a to a randomized website or music video link). Which are you picking?
I wanted to spend the entire afternoon and evening writing (both for university stuff and my stories), possibly drawing something with my second hand wacom intuos, instead I got THIS:

Honestly I don't have wild theories about @potatoanarchist - I do have the feeling they'll end up arrested for trying to punch a cop (emphasis on trying, sorry dear) and I kind of imagine she'll do wheelies on a motorcycle when she becomes an adult
Like, that's her vibe!
Now let's see your theories about me =3
Just remember my time blindness makes me answer a bit later than socially acceptable XD
I'll tag a few of my mutuals (if you don't want to be tagged in the future just say so with no problems ^^)
