I hated that as a kid XD

it's past game and shroud is dealt with. z-team somehow end up talking about sex life's, which is not an unusual conversation for them. someone asks herm and robert if sex life got boring for them after being together for 20 years. both probably stay silent because they're not answering that bullshit. everyone just assumes that they are having troubles in bed.

Honestly YES

They definitely keep their mouths shut cause it’s none of their damn business. Sure Herm’s cheeks get a little red but they aren’t talking.

Yes they’ve had sex in the past and yes they made love, but that was rare. Heck Robert feels guilty their first time wasn’t as slow as he would have liked for Herm, even though they both liked and don’t regret it. And yeah, they’ve had quite a lot of quick sessions of sex, or just trying to get each other off. But now they have a lot more time.

They get to go slower, actually spending time exploring each other’s bodies like it’s the first time all over again. Herm gets to kiss every scar Robert has. Robert gets to whisper every loving thought into Herm’s ear. They can go as long as they want. Robert can take time into teasing Herm, making him desperate. Herm has time to get himself looking pretty for himself and Robert cause it makes him feel attractive and Robert always finds it so sexy every time. They get to do the things they’ve been longing to do properly.

Not to mention they get to actually explore more of their kinks and find new ones. Sure there’s some that they’ve known about for a while (example: Herm having a praise and service kink) but they’ve never had much time to explore these all in depth. Heck Robert discovers a few things about himself that he didn’t know, as Herm usually had a few more kinks than he did.

And it’s not just sex either.

They can spend an entire morning if they wanted just giving kisses or making out. They can spend an entire evening cuddling before they both fall asleep. Heck they can have more conversation that doesn’t involve planning, shroud, work, etc. And YES, they still had typical conversation before Shroud’s defeat but they can talk MORE. And after some time it’s not about shroud anymore.

They can go on DATES on days off. Actual DATES. Not a rushed out to dinner and back home date (though those are perfectly fine) but dates with more than one activity. They can go see movies, go to an aquarium/Zoo. Heck they can go ti a CON if they wanted to. And yes they still get dinner together.

Heck they even have “Dad and Son” days where they take Beef on walks or the dog park and usually get some kind of treat for Beef. Then they cuddle with him at home and give him lots of love. And this is because they can!

A lot of the time when people give advice intended to relieve anxiety, they suggest doing “relaxing” things like drawing, painting, knitting, taking a bubble bath, coloring in one of those zen coloring books, or watching glitter settle to the bottom of a jar.

This advice is always well-intentioned, and I’m not here to diss people who either give it or who benefit from it. But it has never, ever done shit for me, and this is because it goes about resolving anxiety in the completely wrong way.  

THE WORST THING YOU CAN DO when suffering from anxiety is to do a “relaxing” thing that just enables your mind to dwell and obsess more on the thing that’s bothering you. You need to ESCAPE from the dwelling and the obsession in order to experience relief.

You can drive to a quiet farm, drive to the beach, drive to a park, or anywhere else, but as someone who has tried it all many, many times, trust me–it’s a waste of gas. You will just end up still sad and stressed, only with sand on your butt. You can’t physically escape your sadness. Your sadness is inside of you. To escape, you need to give your brain something to play with for a while until you can approach the issue with a healthier frame of mind. 

People who have anxiety do not need more time to contemplate, because we will use it to contemplate how much we suck.

In fact, you could say that’s what anxiety is–hyper-contemplating. When we let our minds run free, they run straight into the thorn bushes. Our minds are already running, and they need to be controlled. They need to be given something to do, or they’ll destroy everything, just like an overactive husky dog ripping up all the furniture. 

Therefore, I present to you: 

THINGS YOU SHOULD NOT DO WHEN ANXIOUS

–Go on a walk

–Watch a sunset, watch fish in an aquarium, watch glitter, etc.

–Go anywhere where the main activity is sitting and watching

–Draw, color, do anything that occupies the hands and not the mind

–Do yoga, jog, go fishing, or anything that lets you mentally drift 

–Do literally ANYTHING that gives you great amounts of mental space to obsess and dwell on things.

THINGS YOU SHOULD DO WHEN ANXIOUS:

–Do a crossword puzzle, Sudoku, or any other mind teaser game. Crosswords are the best.

–Write something. It doesn’t have to be a masterpiece. Write the Top 10 Best Restaurants in My City. Rank celebrities according to Best Smile. Write some dumb Legolas fanfiction and rip it up when you’re done. It’s not for publication, it’s a relief exercise that only you will see. 

–Read something, watch TV, or watch a movie–as long as it’s engrossing. Don’t watch anything which you can run as background noise (like, off the top of my head, Say Yes to The Dress.) As weird as it seems, American Horror Story actually helps me a lot, because it sucks me in. 

–Masturbate. Yes, I’m serious. Your mind has to concentrate on the mini-movie it’s running. It can’t run Sexy Titillating Things and All The Things That are Bothering Me at the same time. (…I hope. If it can, then…ignore this one.) 

–Do math problems—literally, google “algebra problems worksheet” and solve them. If you haven’t done math since 7th grade this will really help you. I don’t mean with math, I mean with the anxiety. 

–Play a game or a sport with someone that requires great mental concentration. Working with 5 people to get a ball over a net is a challenge which will require your brain to turn off the Sadness Channel. 

–Play a video game, as long as it’s not something like candy crush or Tetris that’s mindless. 

THINGS YOU SHOULD DO DURING PANIC ATTACKS ESPECIALLY:

–List the capitals of all the U.S. states

–List the capitals of all the European countries

–List all the shapes you can see. Or all the colors. 

–List all the blonde celebrities you can think of.

–Pull up a random block of text and count all the As in it, or Es or whatever.  

Now obviously, I am not a doctor. I am just an anxious person who has tried almost everything to help myself.  I’ve finally realized that the stuff people recommend never works because this is a disorder that thrives on free time and free mental space. When I do the stuff I listed above, I can breathe again. And I hope it helps someone here too. 

HOWEVER

I do play video games and one game I’ll try to play when I’m anxious is the sims. Primarily sims 4 cause I unfortunately do not have a desktop computer that’ll support it nor do I have any of the prior sims games anymore. But it is EXACTLY what I need at times (though half the time I’m already too far gone cause anxiety sometimes does progress rather quickly 😅).

Why?

Cause decorating rooms are a pain in the ass. Having a room’s purpose, the room to reflect an individual sim or a sim family, and to have furniture that is complimentary to that whole aesthetic is a pain in the ASS. The colors NEVER go the way you want so you have to either get something close or another color that compliments the wall colors or the floor colors or just the vibe.

It creates a challenge where I am so focused on getting this room RIGHT that it’s my main focus. And when I finally get that room done, I feel somewhat satisfied and I either move onto the next one or stop there.

After Robert’s dad’s death, Robert is in a very weird spot mentally. He loves Herm, but his duty as becoming mecha man is very important too. It’s calling to him. He HAS to do this. He doesn’t answer any calls or texts for a while. He hates to do this but he can’t.

Herm notices Robert isn’t at school and he hasn’t answered his phone. He’s worried sick and SCARED. But he’s so sure that Robert will answer him soon. He’s just going through a lot. When Robert doesn’t show up and still doesn’t answer texts, he goes to Robert’s house directly cause what the fuck is going on.

Chase is there. A very VERY stressed out chase. Herm asks what’s going on and Chase sees him and he looks upset seeing Herm. He asks Herm if he’s gotten a hold of Robert and Herm is now worried, shaking his head.

Chase sighs and says he and Robert got into a huge fight. Robert somehow dropped out of school to carry on the mecha man name. Chase was PISSED and told Robert to not continue the mecha man BS and to be better than his father but Robert didn’t listen and he took it the completely wrong way. Chase told him to think about it and Robert just gave a numb, “okay”. When Chase woke up the next morning to talk to Robert more, Robert was gone. The mech was gone. All of it was gone.

And he hasn’t heard from Robert since.

And Herm feels upset. He wished Robert wouldn’t rush into it but he’s also a dumb teen too, so he also understands where Robert is coming from. Herm though is hurting cause he worries Robert just..left him. Chase comforts him.

Shockingly it’s not too long before Herm hears tapping on his window at night which..concerns him since he’s on the second floor. He goes to his window and he sees it’s mecha man. Well..Robert. Before Herm m can say ANYTHING, Robert does the “quiet” motion by putting a finger to his lips. He climbs inside.

Herm is asking a million questions while whisper yelling but Robert tells him he can’t answer everything. Herm decides to reel it back a little. He then asks why? Why did he drop out? Robert blinks and realizes Herm must have talked to chase. And he feels guilt for making Herm worry so much. He says he had to. It’s his purpose. It’s what his dad had been building him up to do.

And Herm goes quiet for a few moments before he asks why he hasn’t answered his calls or texts. Why he hasn’t talked to chase? Robert sighs a bit bitterly at the mention of chase. He says he knows Chase loves him but chase is trying to stop him from being Mecha man. They had a big fight. They both said some things they weren’t happy with, and Robert is still mad but, he can’t face Chase right now. He’s concerned Chase will somehow stop him.

As for Herm? Well, it’s because Robert is a coward. He had already decided and he knows if he told Herm, he’d be there by his side. He wants Herm to live and be happy. Which is why he’s here. He owed Herm an explanation. And..he thinks they should break up.

Herm’s eyes are wide and asks why? Does Robert really want this? To break up? Robert laughs bitterly and he says of course he doesn’t want this! Why would Herm think he WANTS this? He doesn’t want Herm to get hurt or follow him when he’s got potential in other things. If he had it his way, he’d keep Herm close and never let go cause he’s greedy. But he doesn’t want to drag Herm down with him.

Herm is quiet for a moments and he says he’s not breaking up with Robert. Robert blinks and he goes to say he’s not giving Herm a choice, but then Herm says they promised each other when they were kids they’d be heroes together. They promised. Herm is keeping that promise. Even if they break up somehow Herm will find a way to be a hero with Robert. He’ll be by Robert’s side and Robert can’t stop him. Deep down Herm knows he’s being an impulsive teen but he can’t be ashamed of this. Robert is shocked and he’s quiet for a few moments.

Robert sighs and nods. He actually looks relieved and Herm sees a tear fall. Robert nods but says Herm has to graduate school first. And he’s waiting until Herm turns 18. He’s not giving any personal details of where he is or what he’s doing so Chase doesn’t know, but until then, but he’ll visit Herm as much as he can. He’ll check in and if Herm still wants to be with him after all that time, he’ll let Herm come with him. But only after all that and if his grandma is alright with it.

Herm understands but he’s gonna miss Robert a lot. Robert smiles a bit sadly and he says he’s already missing Herm. He’s felt lost without him and he’s felt sick thinking about breaking up with him. But Robert loves him and he knows sometimes when you love something you let it go, but he’s not going to unless Herm says otherwise. He’s being selfish he knows but Herm makes him want to be selfish.

Herm smiles sadly and says he’s selfish too. He’s always there for Robert and he’ll wait for him. They share a couple of sweet kisses before Robert has to go, and Herm misses him before he even leaves. But Herm keeps himself determined and he keeps to himself. He’s alone at school sure. He hates it, especially since bullies are closing in now that Robert’s gone.

Herm does tell his grandma about Robert’s visit. He..can’t keep a secret from her for long. He also tells her that Robert was TRYING to get him to reconsider, to turn him away and to live his own life. How he is making sure he graduates and is 18 before he decides anything. And Herm’s grandma knows Robert definitely isn’t..acting the best when it comes to himself, but he is making sure Herm is taken care of. She’s wary but also she appreciates Robert isn’t coming to whisk him away while they’re young. He’s giving Herm time to reconsider.

So this goes on. Robert visits every now and then and Herm keeps up with Mecha Man Blue religiously, watching videos and news reports. He’s got clips saved and so many photos. Heck he even finds some merch and hides it in his room so Robert doesn’t see it. He really loves his boyfriend. Robert talks a little about what’s going on with him and Herm tells Robert a lot about what’s going on at school, especially the bullying. And Robert is pissed he can’t protect Herm like he used to.

After a lot of studying and work, Herm graduates with honors. He could easily get scholarships and go to college if he wanted to. Robert even visits him before graduation night encouraging him to take this route, but Herm shakes his head, saying he made a promise. And Robert says he doesn’t have to keep that promise. But Herm asks Robert if he’s considered maybe Herm wants this for himself just as much as he wants to be with Robert? Robert knows he’s ALWAYS wanted to be a hero.

And they wait until the summer for Herm’s birthday (I hc him as a June baby and Robert’s a January baby). After Herm celebrates with his grandma, Herm waits in his bedroom. He doesn’t know why but he has a feeling. And yes, his intuition is correct. Just before midnight, he hears a knock on his window and he eagerly comes over and lets Robert in. Herm is happy that Robert came today, and Robert says of course he’d come. It’s Herm’s birthday.

They talk and Robert apologizes for not getting Herm a gift. He’s not been able to get one since he’s been busy but he’s still pissed. Herm says Robert being there is a gift enough. And Robert shakes his head and says he’s still getting Herm a gift. Herm asks if Robert can spend the night. Robert hesitates but he can’t ignore Herm’s pretty puppy eyes so he agrees. They fall asleep in each other’s arms for the first time in a very long time. They’ll figure stuff out in the morning

i'm genuinely going to cry now???? also i'm all in making this canon because this is just seems so in character for both of them. robert would want herm to be happy and do something else just... not to drag him down with him. he knows herm could do so much better than this, herm is smart and eager and he could do so, so much more than just being a hero with robert. he doesn't want herm to think that he HAS to do it.

but herm genuinely wants it for himself just as much as he wants it for robert. he wants to be a hero. especially to be a hero with robert together, as a duo. robert is also just... scared that shroud is going to do something to herman. he doesn't care if he does something to him, but he can't let him get herm. herm is the only person in his life right now. he can't go back and the only one who's here for him is herman.

i think herm would tell his granny about his decision the next day after they figure everything out. she can't say she's surprised. herm wanted to be a hero since he was a kid and now he has a chance and... even though she's upset, she won't stop him. he knows robert will take care of him. and herm promises that he'll still visit and eventually when her health gets worse, herm is the one to take care of her. maybe later on they'll get her a caretaker but herm wants to be there for her himself. he takes a break from hero work because he has an actual job and he needs to make time to take care of her too. it's hard, but... even though he won't admit it, he knows that she's old. she's fragile and he just needs to stay with her for this time.

Side note, when Chase sees them together for the first time he is so tempted to beat both their asses cause One, Hey Roberts there and the last time he saw Robert was when they were arguing and two Herm KNEW about all of this and Robert and still didn’t tell him (he knows Herm was just respecting Robert’s wishes though).

So he tells them off and Herm is like “I’m sorry chase! Please forgive me chase! 😭”

herm feels SO bad. he cries and begs chase for forgiveness but he's also just so happy to see him. he missed him SOOOO much. chase missed both of them too a whole lot, but he won't tell them it yet. he still hugs them tho.

robert feels bad too but he's not crying like herm, he's being a little shit and jokingly fights with chase back. herm is just crying his eyes out and sobs out millions of apologies.

(if we're considering it being like in canon where it's mandy introducing them back together, i just imagine mandy awkwardly standing in the back while they all talk)

Chase sighs and says he and Robert got into a huge fight. Robert somehow dropped out of school to carry on the mecha man name. Chase was PISSED and told Robert to not continue the mecha man BS and to be better than his father but Robert didn’t listen and he took it the completely wrong way. Chase told him to think about it and Robert just gave a numb, “okay”. When Chase woke up the next morning to talk to Robert more, Robert was gone. The mech was gone. All of it was gone.

And he hasn’t heard from Robert since.

And Herm feels upset. He wished Robert wouldn’t rush into it but he’s also a dumb teen too, so he also understands where Robert is coming from. Herm though is hurting cause he worries Robert just..left him. Chase comforts him.

Shockingly it’s not too long before Herm hears tapping on his window at night which..concerns him since he’s on the second floor. He goes to his window and he sees it’s mecha man. Well..Robert. Before Herm m can say ANYTHING, Robert does the “quiet” motion by putting a finger to his lips. He climbs inside.

Herm is asking a million questions while whisper yelling but Robert tells him he can’t answer everything. Herm decides to reel it back a little. He then asks why? Why did he drop out? Robert blinks and realizes Herm must have talked to chase. And he feels guilt for making Herm worry so much. He says he had to. It’s his purpose. It’s what his dad had been building him up to do.

And Herm goes quiet for a few moments before he asks why he hasn’t answered his calls or texts. Why he hasn’t talked to chase? Robert sighs a bit bitterly at the mention of chase. He says he knows Chase loves him but chase is trying to stop him from being Mecha man. They had a big fight. They both said some things they weren’t happy with, and Robert is still mad but, he can’t face Chase right now. He’s concerned Chase will somehow stop him.

As for Herm? Well, it’s because Robert is a coward. He had already decided and he knows if he told Herm, he’d be there by his side. He wants Herm to live and be happy. Which is why he’s here. He owed Herm an explanation. And..he thinks they should break up.

Herm’s eyes are wide and asks why? Does Robert really want this? To break up? Robert laughs bitterly and he says of course he doesn’t want this! Why would Herm think he WANTS this? He doesn’t want Herm to get hurt or follow him when he’s got potential in other things. If he had it his way, he’d keep Herm close and never let go cause he’s greedy. But he doesn’t want to drag Herm down with him.

Herm is quiet for a moments and he says he’s not breaking up with Robert. Robert blinks and he goes to say he’s not giving Herm a choice, but then Herm says they promised each other when they were kids they’d be heroes together. They promised. Herm is keeping that promise. Even if they break up somehow Herm will find a way to be a hero with Robert. He’ll be by Robert’s side and Robert can’t stop him. Deep down Herm knows he’s being an impulsive teen but he can’t be ashamed of this. Robert is shocked and he’s quiet for a few moments.

Robert sighs and nods. He actually looks relieved and Herm sees a tear fall. Robert nods but says Herm has to graduate school first. And he’s waiting until Herm turns 18. He’s not giving any personal details of where he is or what he’s doing so Chase doesn’t know, but until then, but he’ll visit Herm as much as he can. He’ll check in and if Herm still wants to be with him after all that time, he’ll let Herm come with him. But only after all that and if his grandma is alright with it.

Herm understands but he’s gonna miss Robert a lot. Robert smiles a bit sadly and he says he’s already missing Herm. He’s felt lost without him and he’s felt sick thinking about breaking up with him. But Robert loves him and he knows sometimes when you love something you let it go, but he’s not going to unless Herm says otherwise. He’s being selfish he knows but Herm makes him want to be selfish.

Herm smiles sadly and says he’s selfish too. He’s always there for Robert and he’ll wait for him. They share a couple of sweet kisses before Robert has to go, and Herm misses him before he even leaves. But Herm keeps himself determined and he keeps to himself. He’s alone at school sure. He hates it, especially since bullies are closing in now that Robert’s gone.

Herm does tell his grandma about Robert’s visit. He..can’t keep a secret from her for long. He also tells her that Robert was TRYING to get him to reconsider, to turn him away and to live his own life. How he is making sure he graduates and is 18 before he decides anything. And Herm’s grandma knows Robert definitely isn’t..acting the best when it comes to himself, but he is making sure Herm is taken care of. She’s wary but also she appreciates Robert isn’t coming to whisk him away while they’re young. He’s giving Herm time to reconsider.

So this goes on. Robert visits every now and then and Herm keeps up with Mecha Man Blue religiously, watching videos and news reports. He’s got clips saved and so many photos. Heck he even finds some merch and hides it in his room so Robert doesn’t see it. He really loves his boyfriend. Robert talks a little about what’s going on with him and Herm tells Robert a lot about what’s going on at school, especially the bullying. And Robert is pissed he can’t protect Herm like he used to.

After a lot of studying and work, Herm graduates with honors. He could easily get scholarships and go to college if he wanted to. Robert even visits him before graduation night encouraging him to take this route, but Herm shakes his head, saying he made a promise. And Robert says he doesn’t have to keep that promise. But Herm asks Robert if he’s considered maybe Herm wants this for himself just as much as he wants to be with Robert? Robert knows he’s ALWAYS wanted to be a hero.

And they wait until the summer for Herm’s birthday (I hc him as a June baby and Robert’s a January baby). After Herm celebrates with his grandma, Herm waits in his bedroom. He doesn’t know why but he has a feeling. And yes, his intuition is correct. Just before midnight, he hears a knock on his window and he eagerly comes over and lets Robert in. Herm is happy that Robert came today, and Robert says of course he’d come. It’s Herm’s birthday.

They talk and Robert apologizes for not getting Herm a gift. He’s not been able to get one since he’s been busy but he’s still pissed. Herm says Robert being there is a gift enough. And Robert shakes his head and says he’s still getting Herm a gift. Herm asks if Robert can spend the night. Robert hesitates but he can’t ignore Herm’s pretty puppy eyes so he agrees. They fall asleep in each other’s arms for the first time in a very long time. They’ll figure stuff out in the morning

i'm genuinely going to cry now???? also i'm all in making this canon because this is just seems so in character for both of them. robert would want herm to be happy and do something else just... not to drag him down with him. he knows herm could do so much better than this, herm is smart and eager and he could do so, so much more than just being a hero with robert. he doesn't want herm to think that he HAS to do it.

but herm genuinely wants it for himself just as much as he wants it for robert. he wants to be a hero. especially to be a hero with robert together, as a duo. robert is also just... scared that shroud is going to do something to herman. he doesn't care if he does something to him, but he can't let him get herm. herm is the only person in his life right now. he can't go back and the only one who's here for him is herman.

i think herm would tell his granny about his decision the next day after they figure everything out. she can't say she's surprised. herm wanted to be a hero since he was a kid and now he has a chance and... even though she's upset, she won't stop him. he knows robert will take care of him. and herm promises that he'll still visit and eventually when her health gets worse, herm is the one to take care of her. maybe later on they'll get her a caretaker but herm wants to be there for her himself. he takes a break from hero work because he has an actual job and he needs to make time to take care of her too. it's hard, but... even though he won't admit it, he knows that she's old. she's fragile and he just needs to stay with her for this time.

Side note, when Chase sees them together for the first time he is so tempted to beat both their asses cause One, Hey Roberts there and the last time he saw Robert was when they were arguing and two Herm KNEW about all of this and Robert and still didn’t tell him (he knows Herm was just respecting Robert’s wishes though).

So he tells them off and Herm is like “I’m sorry chase! Please forgive me chase! 😭”
