Indecisive Person

herm's granny, while still younger, can get a bit strict with herm and robert because she does NOT trust robert with her grandson after herm came home crying after the whole thing with robert dating another girl. and so she doesn't allow herm to stay the night at robert's for a little bit AND robert needs to bring herm home by curfew if they're going out. herm is embarrassed and begs her to stop, but she keeps telling robert that she'll KILL him if he makes her hermy cry again. robert feels threatened so he has to listen and obey.

And I do think she’d give Robert some benefit cause he didn’t know Herm did like him this whole time, but at the same time she’s like “How dare you” cause that’s her GRANDBABY. And she and Robert were on good terms too.

Also, not to get depressing, but imagine the first time in a long time she lets Herm spend the night is after Robert’s father died. She’s been wary of him for a while but one, she’s known Robert for a while since he’s Herm’s best friend and two, he’s been very respectful of her conditions.

So when Herm is tearing up, telling her he doesn’t know what to do, she tells Herm to go to him. To pack a bag with a few days worth of clothes. Robert needs him right now. And Herm is shocked but grateful and he goes over as fast as he can to support his boyfriend.

Herm’s grandmother may be strict when it comes to Robert, but she’s not a monster. She knows he needs as much support as he can. And her heart breaks a little. She’s known Robert for a while, and he’s slowly been losing that bright light in his eyes more and more. Herm seems to be one of the only things to keep that light going.

it's mostly because of the fact that he probably wanted to rebel even a tiny bit, to stop always listening to his dad about everything, so maybe finding someone and dating them in secret could work. but he doesn't realize his crush on herm yet. he has it, but he doesn't realize it yet. while herm is DEEP in love with robert at this point.

so maybe robert would start thinking he has a thing for a girl from his math class or something. and not so surprisingly, the girl is ginger with curly hair, grey eyes and she's kind of tall. doesn't remind robert of anyone, of course. and he doesn't know if he genuine likes her or he likes her just because.. she's a girl who looks and acts similar to his best friend so it's kind of cool.

He LOVES Robert so much. He loves him more than anyone. So when Robert says he’s asking a girl out, Herm is a bit heartbroken but ever the good friend, he smiles and supports him. He says he’s happy for Robert with a cheery smile.

He tells himself he’ll get over it. Robert is his friend. He’s done more than Herm ever could have hoped for.

But then Herm sees the girl and he feels..hurt.

This girl is tall like he is. She has curly ginger hair like he does. She’s got gray eyes like he does.

She’s just like him, but the only difference is she’s a girl.

Herm feels sick because he has all the qualities Robert seems to be interested in but the issue is that he’s a boy.

And then he noticed some other things that are different.

She’s got a smaller nose unlike him. His is bigger. She’s got a smaller face. He’s got a longer face. She’s not gangly and lanky like him at all. She does not have a stutter like he does. She…prettier than he is.

She’s just like Herm enough, but not Herm himself. He never had a chance.

And even though he’ll be there for Robert, no matter how much it hurts, No matter how much it pains him, no matter how much he’s gotta hide and pretend everything is fine and happy…

BUT i also thought about how it could be a good reason for robert's confession? robert realizes that the only reason he liked the girl is because she's similar to herm. but she's not him at all, so he doesn't have that much interest in her. he tells her that this probably won't work out and even though she's upset, she takes it fine.

robert and herm then hang out and robert tells herm that he's not talking to that girl anymore. herm is like "why?" and robert says that he realized she's not herm. herm is confused and he's like "huh?", robert repeats himself and says that she's not him. he doesn't want her, he wants herm.

herm just gets even more confused and even teary at this point, while robert continues to say that herman is amazing. he likes him. no, loves him, he just didn't understand that and he thought that maybe liking a girl who's similar to herm could work. but it didn't. she's not him, and he wants to be with him.

herm cries and turns away and tells robert to stop teasing him. maybe he somehow found out about herm's crush and is just torturing him now. robert says that he's not teasing, he's being serious. herm sobs and tells robert that he's stupid. he tells robert how much it hurts to see him with another person who looks just like him, yet has so much better qualities. with someone who's prettier, better than him. robert stays quiet, silently encouraging herm to continue. herm tells him that she's just so much better than herm. her nose is smaller, her face too, she's not lanky like him, she doesn't stutter and she's not constantly fucking wet like him. he's so, so mad at robert. he loves him back, so much, but he's still so mad at him.

Robert gets hit with something. Maybe a pillow, maybe a rolled up magazine, maybe Chase whaps Robert a little, idk. Nothing that hurts. Just something siblings do sometimes.

And Chase is TELLING him off. Robert winces but he knows he’s a dumbass and Chase is telling Robert he better fucking GROVEL for Herm when he sees him next. Heck he better grovel for a whole fucking year.

herm's eyesight has been absolutely ass for years now. he's not a hero yet, so prescription goggles are not a thing for him yet. so he decides to get glasses! (mostly his granny because she got sick of herm not seeing shit around the house) but herm feels insecure about wearing glasses because he already has braces! this is just going to complete his stereotypical "total nerd" look.

but he still gets them. he tried to get the ones that won't make him look like an absolute nerd and now he has to wear them to go see robert.

Like just big round lenses framing those pretty silver eyes he has.

And while Herm is flustering over how pretty Robert looks (his freckles, how pretty his warm eyes are, how his expressions look so lovely be it focused, smiling or frustrated) Robert definitely is feeling like he’s gong crazy from Herm cuteness.

Might be working on thing but who knows
