I'm gonna preface this with, I'm Indian. So my mother tongue is Malayalam, which is a language spoken specifically in the state Kerala. I speak it because both my parents and my entire family speaks it.

But I lived in Dubai till I was 10, and not a lot of fellow children there spoke Malyalam, so I had to learn English. My dad helped with it and now I speak English better than even my mother tongue.

Other than that, I also speak Hindi, because it's like the official language of India, and I had to learn it at school. I don't speak it very well though, because I have no reason to use it where I live.

Bianca, who wanted to be her own person. Bianca, who tried to put herself first but in the end sacrificed her life for Nico. Bianca, who loved Nico. Bianca, who would do anything for her brother, because who else did he have? Bianca, who lived and died for him because what else was a sister supposed to do?

Her curse was to be stuck and alone on an island, with every man she would eventually fall in love with, having to leave her behind. It is not like in Homer's Odyssey, where Calypso is in control over whether or not Odysseus gets to leave Ogygia. That's not what she did in pjo. In pjo, Odysseus and Percy washed ashore, she ended up falling in love with them, and then they left. She did not rape anyone. She did not force anyone to stay.

Another really important thing that people choose to ignore is that, Calypso is canonically a teenager. She is mentally and physically a teen. That is also clear in the canon. Even though she's a Goddess/Titaness, she's a teenager when she turns mortal. And though you can argue, she's technically lived for thousands of years, she lived all those years in isolation. She did not have any sort of experience of mental maturity. She was a teen when was cursed and she was a teen when she left the island.

I am so sick of people villainising Calypso by assuming that she's a predator that preyed on Leo and Percy. She didn't. Where are you even getting that from. I understand if some people aren't capable of separating their feelings about Odyssey Calypso from pjo Calypso. But you have to understand that they are different. There's no point in assuming that because she did what she did in the myths, she did in pjo too. So can we stop please?

Unlike Calypso, who in pjo, didn't do what she did in the myths, Poseidon did. The entire Medusa encounter in TLT proves that. I'm aware that that version of Medusa's myth is more Roman than it is Greek. But that is what Rick chose. So canonically, Poseidon did rape Medusa in the times of ancient Greece. But nobody's talking about that.

Another thing is the 'age-gap'. Unlike Calypso who lived most her thousand years in isolation, and therefore didn't develop any important sort of maturity, Poseidon doesn't have that excuse. And this time I'm not talking about something that happened in the ancient times. I'm talking about Sally.

Sally was a young single mom. At the most, she gave birth to Percy when she 21. At most. That would mean that Poseidon and Sally 'dated' probably when she was 18-20. Which would still make her an adult. Yes. But Poseidon is at least 3000 years old.

I'm not saying that a god dating a teenager is the same as a god dating an 18 year old. The latter is infinitely better. But it's still icky. And while Calypso canonically is a teenager who dates a teenager, she gets hate. But Poseidon does the very things that Calypso is 'accused' of, and nobody bats an eye. Is that not a double standard?
