and you can get fucking blocked 🤤
reminder that mentioning other ships of the character on a very specific ship post is weird and disrespectful!! especially if you're mentioning a very popular ship on a rarepair!! because its a fucking rarepair and we don't get enough content as is!!! and the popular ships are known to attack the rare ships!!! fuck you!!!!!
Good fandom (almost) doesn't exist
Everyone in a fandom should watch this video, make good use of auto-translate subtitles
Had you ever heard the apparently well-known rule for crossover ships SPECIFICALLY for posting on tumblr? This rule does not apply to Ao3.
The rule is that on tumblr you can tag with the ship name, and the names of the characters, but you’re a horrible bad rude asshole if you use the tag of the show/movie/media those characters are from. You’re “flooding” the main tag with your crossover if you use the name of the show/movie/media.
Because I’ve been in online fandom since 2011 and on tumblr since around 2012 and I’d never before heard of this rule in my life. But if that’s how we’re doing things in 2026, I’ll do my best not to be rude.
Have you heard of this rule before now?
No
Yes
Y’all, if you don’t like how a character is written in a fic… stop reading the fic.

Hi friendly reminder not to tag something with its main tag if you’re making a hate post about it it’s not cool. Thx
I’m always talking about this & no one is ever listening but it continues to bother me & online fandom spaces continue to be very important to me so I’m gonna continue to talk.
i should NOT go to the evil dead burn tag & see a gif set someone created reblogged with the caption “this movie was mid.” If I go to the tag & see a review of the movie with the poster’s opinion that the movie was mid? As long as they are respectful & the post is relevant to the tag this is okay.
I may not agree & it would be proper etiquette for me to either block the poster OR politely (politely!!!) leave a comment stating that I disagree / why I disagree because this is a social blogging site & if you post publicly discussion is encouraged.
The rudeness comes when the comment is left ON A POST WITH SOMEONE’S ART/GIF SET ETC that is clearly not intended as a discussion starter / review post.
It also IS rude to continuously post hate about a subject in the tag. There is a massive difference between making a critical on topic statement & tagging it appropriately (example: discussions criticizing Taylor Swift’s excessive wealth or public actions in the Taylor Swift tag) & posting inflammatory & hateful posts about Taylor Swift fans in the tags.
Honestly??? TLDR: remember that people on this website are humans. If you would not go up to someone at a party showing off their cool Hazbin Hotel artwork DON’T DO THE EQUIVALENT ONLINE. Likewise there is a MAJOR difference between me having a polite & respectful debate with someone at a party about how I find the show Summer I Turned Pretty distasteful & painful while they find it fun & entertaining just like I wouldn’t scream at the top of my lungs that everyone who likes the show should die at a party. Just use common sense FFs.
