Under the Milky Way- the church: I used to be OBSESSED either Donnie Darko. The first time I watched was in 4th grade with my parents, and it was one of my dad’s favorite movies so he’d play this song in the car 24/7. It’s always had a very mystical romantic sort of feeling to me, and when I gained a hyperfixation on Donnie Darko in 7th grade I found myself coming back to it over and over and over again.

Far from any road-the handsome family: this one’s the theme for one of my fav seasons of tv of all time, it got me into folk music, there’s not much to say I just really really like it and never get tired of it.

Somewhat damaged- nine inch nails: choosing a single nine inch nails song was difficult but I have to go with this one. I can’t listen to it without out getting a little emotional, it’s got so much anger and betrayal and even fear in it, I relate to it heavily and it’s helped me through some really dark times. Nine inch nails in general is just my favorite artist oat but if I had to choose what song that’s very significant to me it would be this one.

My favorite song of all time is the 1973 MSG version of Dazed and Confused by Led Zeppelin.

I have the physical vinyl and this song takes up the entire B side (It’s almost thirty minutes long) and for me, it keeps my attention the whole time. This, in my opinion, is the best surviving example of the ungodly talent of Mr Page…but more introspectively, and extremely frank, this song sounds like the mystery of the afterlife to me. As well as just the beauty of the unknown in general. Transcendent in every way. I feel enlightened after every listen- which is not that often because the song is so special to me I don’t want to exploit it to my ears. I want to savor the special times where I feel this song is worthy. It is the song of my soul.
