like I mean this very seriously as writing advice. the character should experience events and make decisions that make them different at the end of the story. they should be changed. they do not have to be improved.
they can get worse. they can make decisions of an increasingly terrible nature. they can stop taking risks on kindness. they can discover how much they can get away with. they can find religion, or abandon it, with negative effects on their moral creed. the character has to develop. the character does not have to grow.
I REALLY don't see Ryan as a cheater, and I feel like something would have come out about it if he did. And I don't think Cat would have either, but Idk.
Either way, going from at least a 7 year relationship and within at max a few months getting into a new serious (I assume) relationship is... very him unfortunately. Feels like a recipe for disaster.

Cause that's what he fucking does. His dad dies and he proposes like a month or so later cause he want's stability. That falls through, he's heartbroken and lonely, so he gets into another committed relationship within months. I love him to death, I do, and I want this to work but I have such heavy doubts.
