My side blogs are it-started-with-a-bite which is filled with vampire stuff and all-in-one-place where I reblog all imagines, oneshots, and headcanons. Feel free to message me! This blog is just for all the other bullshit at this point. Also, I am an ADULT , if this makes you uncomfortable, please donât interact.
Over the Garden Wall -- It's being pulled from HBO Max on August 31 and knowing HBO, there's a chance it'll be pulled sooner. *I have now made a Google Drive of all the episodes of OTGW. Please, please, please, PLEASE, save these on a physical device.
The Owl House -- Disney has tried to bury this show many times (giving it a weird release schedule, cutting the budget, etc) and has even cancelled the show. Also, Disney+ is going to nuke their catalogue soon and I doubt TOH will survive*I have now also saved all the episodes of TOH. Click here for the posts with all of the episodes
Amphibia -- I know less about the behind the scenes BS than TOH but Amphibia was screwed over by Disney mainly by poor promotion. Also since one of the protagonist is openly bisexual*, like TOH, I really can't imagine this would survive.*Amphibia has also been saved. Go here for the post with all the episodes.
Steven Universe -- Cartoon Network cancelled Steven Universe and gave it a weird release schedule, it has also just been pulled from HBO Max.
Gravity Falls -- Once again, Disney+ is going to nuke their catalogue at some point in the future and between Wendy being canonically bi, Sheriff Blubs and Deputy Durland being in a relationship, and Alex Hirsch (being the amazing man that he is) constantly calling Disney out on their BS, I imagine that Disney would be more than willing to nuke Gravity Falls. *Iâve also saved Gravity Falls now go to the main post here to see all the episodes.
and most importantly
Every single show, book, game, fanfiction, movie, etc you've ever loved
We now know that at any moment's notice, streaming services can and will just nuke their catalogue without hesitation. If it's digital, it can be removed and there's a likely chance you'll never see it again.
So, please take some time to save anything you love on an external device. It could be a box set (it can be official or fan-made one), a USB, or anything.
If you have a physical copy of something, it's yours forever and no one can take that away from you.
*Edit because Iâve seen some confusion about this. Read this again, itâs âone of the protagonistsâ not âthe protagonist.â Sasha is the one whoâs bi, Anneâs sexuality hasnât been confirmed.
Also in addition to this, people have reblogged this to say Steven Universe is still on HBO. Since I donât have HBO, Iâve been going off of what people have been saying and Iâve seen it mentioned that HBO was taking off SU. You should still save it though.
*Edit 2 if any of the links here donât work, check the original post as I mightâve changed/updated them. If that still doesnât work, send me an ask or DM Iâll give them to you.

The really bewildering thing to me is that I remember when you needed to get up and pull a dictionary off the shelf, or visit a library to look up the facts you needed. Now people have all kinds of information literally at their fingertips and they canât be bothered to use it.
Also, I love that, in the sign language one, it seems like the last image might've been a gif of "fuck you," screenshot at the perfect time to let you know they were about to sign "fuck you"
An ancient castle on top of a hill, within the sight of where your family lives. It calls to you, captures your imagination. What lies beyond your simple little life of chores and familial duties? Perhaps there are such things as fairy tales. perhaps there is even more than fairy tales.
Female Reader x Male Monster
There was a castle north of your village perched upon the rockiest cliff of the mountain. It had been there as long as you could remember, as long as anyone could remember really. It sat up there as a decaying statue. No one had been in or out in decades, only birds flew back and forth, and only thorns grew around it.
âStop staring! Weâve got chores to do!â Your sister snapped at you.
âRight,â you gasped. You followed along after her, taking one last glance at the castle over your shoulder.
You couldnât tell you had been bed ridden only a month ago. Sometimes your bones ached from the long rest, but it was a miracle you were moving at all. No one wanted to speak of what brought you there, they said it would be too traumatic for you. And yet, here you were, running errands for the family, doing your chores, and going about like nothing had happened. Which you understood is exactly what your family wanted.
âYou would think you had enough of dreaming,â your sister scoffed as you picked out vegetables in the market.
âWho said anything about dreaming? I was looking. Donât you look at things?â You snapped.
Your sister gave you the eye and went back to inspecting the cabbages. âThat castle should be none of your concern. Itâs not something us mortals need to worry about.â
âYou donât find it fascinating then?â You asked.
âNo, I donât. Itâs a decaying house on a decaying hill.â She didnât even look at you that time, instead she picked out a cabbage and moved on.
You sighed and shook your head. There were gaps in your memory, so you had to rely on your family, your sister especially, for a lot. Despite being the eldest child you were treated as the youngest now, almost like an invalid.
You were going towards the bakery on your sisterâs command when you spotted a magpie upon the store sign. It was looking at you, not just in that âiâm a tiny animal inspecting the predatorâ sort of way. But more like it was looking at you. This magpie had particularly bright, golden eyes and a very long tail that seemed to be missing a feather, or had a bald patch.
The magpie hopped across the sign, still looking at you.
âGood morning,â you said to it. âIf I get a particularly crusty loaf, Iâll try to give you a piece.â
The magpie fluffed up then fluttered out itâs wings. âWock, wock,â it called out.
You smiled, giggling to yourself. âIâll be right back, I promise.â You started to go into the store when you think you hear someone calling your name. You turn around, but no one is there except the magpie.
When you leave the store, you see the magpie sitting in the window, watching you yet again. âHow curious,â you murmured to yourself.
You walked outside and presented the magpie with a roll. âThe shopkeep gave me this, so I can share a bit with you if youâd like.â
The magpie opened itâs beak and said your name.
You stared, perturbed now that it was looking and speaking at you.
âI beg your pardon?â You whispered to the bird. âDo you know me somehow?â
The magpie hopped across the windowsill. âMy lady, weâve been looking for you! Everywhere! Up and down! All over the mountain!â
You opened your mouth and shut it. You looked to the roll then back at that magpie. You knew you had somehow hit your head, but you didnât realize how hard until a bird began speaking to you.
âIâm not sure whatâs happening,â you said with an uncertain laugh.
âYou donât recognize me! I thought you did when you offered me a crust!â The magpie fluttered and rolled, acting dramatic for the sake of being dramatic.
âI donât know any birds!â You hissed with a soft voice. âPeople are coming!â
The magpie flew at you and perched himself on your shoulder. âMy lady, it is I, Penry! Do you really not remember me?â
The name rang a cheerful pleasant bell in the back of your mind, but it did not conjure up anything else. You looked around, ducking away when you saw your sister coming from down the street. You hid, going down a small alley where you sat in a doorway.
âIâm sorry, but Iâm afraid-â
Penry fluttered his feathers and jumped down from your shoulder to the cobblestones below where he began pacing. âOh this canât be happening! They really took your memory too! Cruel! Cruel!â
A painful flash of light coursed through your brain. It felt like a jab from a pin and twice as bright as the sun. You flinched and covered your face with your hands.
âWe need you home! Your husband-â Penry said the word and no sooner than he did, did you feel sick and weak to your stomach. You doubled over, hugging your body tight in your arms. Your mind was fighting itself, fighting the rest of your body to prove itself and what it knew. There were glimmers of eyes and faces, voices that surrounded you. You sat up with a breath and stood, stumbling toward the end of the alley where you retched.
âMy lady! Are you alright? Oh goodness what have they done to you?â He sat on your back, tapping comfortingly up and down your shoulders.
âEnough Penry,â you said in a strange voice. You then grew confused and shook your head. âIâve been sick for a long time. Iâm still recovering.â
âYouâre sick because they made you sick!â Penry flew before you as you started walking along the backs of the shops.
âI fell and made myself sick,â you huffed.
âNo! The Marbre did this to you! They found out about you and Kerwyn eloping and-â
You halted the bird by holding out your hand and he rested upon your finger. Your breath shuddered and came out white as if the air was cold. âI know that name,â you murmured.
âThatâs the name of your husband! My lady!â
âPenry stop-â You had to lean against the wall again as a wave of nausea and pain took over again.
âThe Mabre took you and the master apart,â Penry said, catching on to what was happening to you. âThey chained him, forced him into hibernation. And you, oh, my poor lady, they tried to take everything the master had given.â
There was a hand before me, a grasping, clawing hand with a face in the center. You shook your head, looking back to Penry.
Penryâs golden eyes were filled with concern. âMe and the Conventicle have been looking all over the mountain for you!â
âThis is my home, where else would I be?â
âNo! Itâs not!â Penry flew up further and pointed to the castle on the hill. âThat is your home! The Mabre hid you here.â
You stared up towards the castle with tears flooding to your eyes. You shook your head and ducked it down low. âNo! That castle has been empty for decades.â
Penry came back close to you and sat on your shoulder. âMonths! And the master is inside! He needs you!â He bounced to give you a reassuring pat. âThink my lady, is this really your home? Is this really where you belong?â
The tears stung your eyes as you tried to think. âIâm not sure.â
Penry grew still and nuzzled up against you. His feathers were soft and slick, his small head against your cheek was a welcomed push. You smiled, leaning your cheek into him and taking a deep breath.
âPenry will be your closest confidant while you are here. He will guide you, send your letters, and help you tend to anything you desire. I trust you two will be the closest of friends.â The voice in your head was clear as a bell, deep, and you knew it well. But how?
âMy lady, I know this must be a lot to take in. But I promise you, I speak the truth and only the truth to you. I wouldnât want any more harm to befall you than it already has.â He shuffled along your shoulder then down your arm to the cobblestones again.
âI want to believe you, but it feels like there has been a battle in my brain since we met. I need to lie down.â You started walking, heading home with Penry close behind.
You went to bed as soon as you made it home, letting Penry in through the window before you laid to rest.
âThe Mabre are trying to keep you two apart. If it was working you wouldnât be going through any of this,â Penry said softly as he settled next to you on your pillow. âYou love Kerwyn, thatâs why youâre fighting it.â
Pain surged through your eyes and you closed them. âEver since you spoke to me itâs felt like my mind is fighting my whole body.â
âThatâs the Mabre curse.â Penry waved his wings to fan you. âIâm sorry my presence is causing you harm, my lady. Rest now, Iâll watch over you in case they come back to renew the curse.â
Your brow pinched and you peeked an eye open to look at him. âRenew it?â
Penry nodded. âThatâs the only way they can keep you away. If youâre fighting it then youâre stronger than they are.â
You closed your eyes again. âMy head is killing me. Iâm not even sure I heard that correctly.â
âThen rest, my lady. Iâll keep guard like always.â
You drifted to sleep, waking to a soft touch upon your cheek. You smiled, taking hold of the thumb of the massive hand that touched you.
âDarling, I was sleeping,â you chuckled.
âI couldnât help it,â a deep voice whispered. âYou were so beautiful.â
âDid no one teach you that you could look and not touch?â You rolled over into the large body beside you, one that was easily three times your size.
He chuckled and held you close. âIt is time to get up though.â
You kissed the center of that great palm. âI suppose you are correct, my dearest.â You then stood up from bed and were faced with a long hallway. The bedroom was gone, the warm sunlight had vanished. There was only candlelight now, a weak light at that.
You walked down the hallway, seeing signs of feathers and vines. The further you went, the more overgrown the hall became. A door opened and you wandered into a dining hall. The walls were covered by vines and thorns and magpies were trapped inside them. The vines crawled towards the center of the room where, laying upon the great table, was an even greater figure. Long white hair spilled down from the table, becoming tangled and coiled above the thorny vines.
Your breath came out in white puffs as the room grew colder and colder the closer you got to the table. The magpies began screaming, and you turned around to see the hand with a face coming towards you.
The screaming grew louder and you sat up in your bed, seeing Penry attacking your sister. She swatted and screamed at him, throwing her hand out where you saw a face upon it.
âGet out now, my lady!â Penry cried at you as he fought. âIâll keep her at bay!â
You went to run, but instead you grabbed the heavy vase under the window and struck what you thought was your sister upside the head. When she fell you and Penry rushed from the room and you used a curtain rod to block the door.
âMy lady, are you alright?â Penry asked.
âYouâre the one who was fighting!â You rushed down the hall and slid down the banister of the stares, rushing from the house while there was yelling and shouting behind you. You ran and ran, heading into the woods where you followed a path hidden by leaves and overgrowth.
âMy lady! Do you remember anything?â Penry cheered in excitement.
âI donât know how to answer that Penry!â You slid down a hill, coming to a stop at the bottom where a rope bridge connected the village to the cliffs. You stared across, your heart racing wildly in your chest.
You then shook your head. âI canâtâŚI donât know if I can cross this.â
Penry flew ahead and landed on the bridge. âYou have to, my lady! Theyâll be here soon.â
You took a deep breath, stepping onto the bridge and feeling needles in your feet. The pain was indescribable, but the further you went, the less it ached, the more the pain pulled away and finally it was gone. You raced the rest of the way across the bridge, breaking free of the invisible chains the Marbe put upon you.
âThat is it, my lady!â Penry cheered in triumph.
More magpies were collecting along the mountain, and in the distance you could see them darkening the horizon as they returned home.
âWhat happened to the bridge he built?â You breathed in as the fight inside you began to dull.
Penry flew ahead of you while other magpies flew at your back. âThey knocked it down, destroyed it like they did most of everything else. When they found you two together, they went mad.â
âIâm not surprised. He said they would. His family-â You felt dizzy and some magpies flew up to hold you aloft.
âWeâre not far now, my lady!â
âYouâve got this, my lady!â The magpies spoke encouragingly to you.
You scaled the mountain, going up the rough terrain of the mountain with nothing more than your own cunning and a bunch of birds. It was night by the time you got to the front of the palace, and even then the entrances were covered with thorny vines.
You sat down outside to catch your breath. You were filthy and sore all over, your hands ached, your feet felt split, your hair was tangled and ratted. You sat there breathing, your mind still trying to fight your body at every turn.
Penry hopped towards you. âMy lady, we canât get inside.â
âI know. I know.â You sniffled and wiped at your face. âThe vines.â You looked up at the castle wall and the vines seemed to be smiling at you with a smug assurance. You looked away and swallowed. âI need something to cut them down.â
âScissors!â A magpie yelled. âOur lady needs her scissors!â
You furrowed your brow at Penry, looking up to the sky as magpies came down like rain from the horizon. One little magpie flew forward, carrying what looked like a sewing basket in their talons.
âSome of us were able to escape with your things and have been keeping them in hiding for you.â Penry said as the basket dropped into your hands.
Inside was a regular sewing kit, nothing worth noting until you saw the golden scissors inside. âBut this is just sewing shears.â You said as you pulled out the tiny scissors. âI cannot cut anything with these but thread!â
âKerwyn gave you those, my lady!â Penry assured you. âUse them, go ahead!â
You stood up walking towards the front of the castle with the golden shears in hand. You began taking the blades to the vines and sure enough, they snipped right through the woody tendrils. You cut and snipped and hacked through, finally finding the great doors which opened at your touch. The magpies flew inside ahead of you, knocking away the dust and debris from inside.
You stepped inside, feeling a warm embrace wrap around you.
âMy darling! Youâre home!â That deep voice said into your ear.
âI was just out picking berries!â A past version of you laughed as the giant man spun you into the air.
You raced down the hallway, following the magpies. The thorns had more magpies trapped inside them, all of them asleep and waiting to be woken.
The magpies stopped at the end of the hall, and Penry came to your shoulder. âWe can go no further than this, my lady. Only you can go here.â
âI know.â You walked ahead, going down the hallway covered in vines. Doors opened at the end and you saw the great table stretched out in the center of the room. He laid there upon the table top, his long white hair tangled into the vines.
You breathed and white steam came from your lips. âKerwyn,â you whispered. The vines recoiled and hissed at the name.
You walked in further, using a chair to climb upon the table. You stood over him for a moment, kneeling down to push away the feathers and leaves from his handsome, strong face. You touched his cheek and tears came to your eyes, splashing upon his pale skin.
âI havenât seen those green eyes in so long,â you whispered. âBut I have dreamed about them many times.â You sniffled and tried to catch your breath. âI look horrible, my love. Iâll be such a sight when you wake.â You bent down, kissing him softly, lovingly. The cold around you began to warm, and the vines pulled away. Magpies flew from the wall, flying around the room and circling above you.
Sunlight poured into the room and Kerwynâs hand raised and cupped your cheek. His eyes opened, as bright and green as the forest outside. He smiled, revealing those golden fangs behind his lips.
âDarling, I was sleeping,â he laughed.
You laughed as tears streamed down your face. âI couldnât help it. You were so beautiful.â
Keywyn sat up, cupping your face between his large hands. He looked at you with wonder as the magpies began to sing. âDid no one teach you that you could look and not touch?â
You shuddered, leaning into his embrace and holding your hands around his wrist. âIt is time to get up though.â
Kerwyn grabbed you in a strong, hard embrace. The pain was gone, the fight was over inside you. As he held you the world melted away to what it was. No decay, no thorns, no ruin of any sort. The Mabre, Kerwynâs family, and their influence was shaken from the dawn and the castle all at once.
âMaster!â Penry flew into the room and perched upon Kerwynâs shoulder. âIs it really you now? Are you truly back?â
Kerwyn would no sooner let go of you than anything. âYes, I am here again, Penry.â He turned and smiled at the bird. âYou found her! Good lad!â
Penry preened with pride. âWell, sir, she did most of the hard work.â
Kerwyn turned back to you, imposing figure that he was, he was as soft and helpless as a kitten in that moment. âI know.â He smoothed his thumb under your eye. âI knew she would come back.â
âIâm sorry it took so long,â you wept.
Kerwyn shook his head and kissed your forehead. âI know what they did to you, my love. I wonât let them do it again.â he picked you up from the table and carried you towards the open windows of the dining hall. The sky was bright pink and lilac as the sun rose over the mountain.

I think the best way to fight this AI shit is just to support actual creators. The cat's out of the bag with AI; our data's going to be taken and used without our consent whether we like it or not, so maybe we should put efforts into holding up those who create their own stuff. Comment/interact on people's writings and art. Make it worth them posting; make it clear that what the people are interested in isn't generated stuff, but things that people have actually done themselves. It's a drop in the ocean, but showing creators that it's them that deserve the support at least serves to cut off a tiny bit of oxygen to these AI hogs - and make a difference to creatives who are trying against hope to share with a community.
I feel like people don't understand what fetishization really means & it has a lot of well intentioned lefty types like afraid of being attracted to people
Like you're allowed to be attracted to marginalized people lol ... you're allowed actively think certain traits they have are beautiful. You can even think they're hot. This isn't inherently objectifying. As long as you're treating them like people it's fine. You don't have to like, pretend you don't know what somebody looks like lest your attraction be Problematic
Remember: sexual attraction in itself is morally neutral. And my crazy take is that if you're respectful about it it's actually cool and good to find beauty in different kinds of people & being horny about it doesn't negate that. Peace and love on planet earth
A message from a few of the trans staff at Tumblr & Automattic:
We want trans people, and LGBTQ+ people broadly, to feel welcome on Tumblr, in part because we as trans people at Tumblr and Automattic want it to be a space where we ourselves feel included. We want to feel like this is a platform that supports us and fights for our safety. Tumblr is made brighter and more vibrant by your presence, and the LGBTQ+ folks who help run it are fighting all the time for this, for you, internally.Â
A few days ago, Matt Mullenweg (the CEO of Automattic, Tumblrâs parent company) responded to a userâs ask about an account suspension in a way that negatively affected Tumblrâs LGBTQ+ community. We believe that Matt's response to this ask and his continued commentary has been unwarranted and harmful. Tumblr staff do not comment on moderation decisions as a matter of policy for a variety of reasonsâincluding the privacy of those involved, and the practicalities of moderating thousands of reports a day. The downside of this policy is that it is very easy for rumors and incorrect information about actions taken by our Trust & Safety team to spread unchecked. Given this, we want to clarify a few different pieces of this situation:
The reality of predstrogen's suspension was not accurately conveyed, and made it seem like we were reaching for opportunities to ban trans feminine people on the platform. This is not the case. The example comment shared in the post linked above does not meet our definition of a realistic threat of violence, and was not the deciding factor in the account suspension.
Matt thereafter failed to recognize the harm to the community as a result of this suspension. Matt does not speak on behalf of the LGBTQ+ people who help run Tumblr or Automattic, and we were not consulted in the construction of a response to these events.
Last year, the "mature" and "sexual themes" community labels were erroneously applied to some users' posts. An outside team of contractors tasked with applying community labels to posts were responsible for this larger trend of mislabeling trans-related content. When our Trust & Safety team discovered this issue (thanks largely to reports from the community), we removed the contracted teamâs ability to apply community labels and added more oversight to ensure it does not happen again. In the Staff post about this, LGBTQ+ staff pushed to be more transparent but were overruled by leadership. The termination of a contractor mentioned in the original ask response was for an unrelated incident which was incorrectly attributed to this case. We regret that the mislabeling ever happened, and the negative impact it has had on the trans community on Tumblr.Â
Transition timelines are not against our community guidelines, and werenât a factor considered by the moderation team when discussing suspensions and subsequent appeals. We do not take action against content that is related to transitioning or trans bodies unless it includes violations of the Community Guidelines.
When it comes to the experience of trans folks on Tumblr encountering transphobic content, and interacting with bigoted users, we understand and share your frustrations. Tumblrâs policies, and Automatticâs policies, are written to ensure freedom of speech and expression. We prohibit harassment as defined in our Community Guidelines, but we know that this policy falls short of protecting users from the wider scope of harmful speech often used against LGBTQ+ and other marginalized people.
Going forward, Tumblr is taking the following actions:
Prioritizing anti-harassment features that will empower users to more effectively protect themselves from harassment.
Building more internal tooling for us as Staff to proactively identify and mitigate instances of harassment.
Reviewing which of the tags frequently used by the trans community are blocked, and working to make them available next week.
Weâre sorry for how this all transpired, and weâre actively fighting to make our voices heard more and prevent something like this from happening again in the future. We know firsthand that having to deal with situations like this as a Tumblr user is difficult, particularly as a member of an already frequently targeted and harassed community. We know it will take time to regain your trust, and weâre going to put in the work to rebuild it.
We appreciate the space we have been given to express our concerns and dissent, and we are thankful that Mattâs (and Automatticâs) strong commitment to freedom of expression has facilitated it.
We will continue to fight to make Tumblr safe for us all.
â This statement was authored by multiple trans employees of Tumblr and Automattic.
i think most of the negative commenters here have no idea how to read corpo-speak when the employees actually care but their bosses are making dumbass decisions. people are acting like the staff who wrote this are oppressors when they're literally saying they are having to fight internally to be heard by the people making decisions.
this basically says, "sorry our CEO is being a dipshit, we really don't like it and we were overruled on decisions that made things worse. now that he's blown this up we can finally do the things higher-ups didn't let us do earlier."
the note about being thankful for "matt's strong commitment to freedom of expression", i'm not sure how sincere it is, but it reads to me like "thanks for not firing us for making this post, and thanks for listening (or being strong-armed into listening) to us when we told you that you're fucking things up and you should let us fix it."
my heart goes out to y'all for dealing with this bullshit, both internally and externally, and i hope you get the changes that you want and deserve to make tumblr a better workplace and a better posting zone. a lot of ppl really don't understand how hard it is to be in a company whose work you believe in when leadership is doing things you disagree with and you have to thread the needle of communicating that while being professional (i.e. compliant with corporate communication guidelines).
Corpo speak professional here. I'm the lawyer that corpo consults when they want to make a corpo speak apology or do some PR management.
In all my career, I have never seen a corporation issue a public statement written by line employees like the post above on an official account. A corporation will always issue an apology or something like this from the highest level - the CEO itself or speaking on behalf of the corporation as a whole, written by their lawyers and/or PR team.
For Tumblr to allow and issue a statement written by employees speaking on behalf of themselves is incredibly rare and frankly shows tumblrs commitment to it's queer staff and users.
That in and of itself should make this be a positive sign

For those who don't remember, here's the lawsuit two years ago where Tumblr (or specifically Automattic) settled with the New York City Commission on Human Rights regarding Tumblr's terribly implemented porn ban targeting LGBTQ folk more than it should. Here's an excerpt detailing what the NYCCHR ordered Tumblr to do:
The settlement gives Tumblr 180 days to hire an expert on sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) issues and provide related training to moderators. It must also hire someone with experience in this area as well as expertise in image classification, who will review Tumblrâs moderation algorithms to see if theyâre more likely to flag LGBTQ content. As part of an overall review, Tumblr will reexamine 3,000 old cases where a user successfully appealed a takedown, looking for patterns that could indicate bias.
Now, on a totally unrelated note, here's the complaint page for reporting discrimination to the NYCCHR. Completely unrelated to what's going on right now or the rest of this post, I swear.
this is "if you can't afford to pay your workers you can't afford to stay in business". I'm sorry, if you can't train your AI without copyrighted material, you have no business doing what you're doing.
"20 years ago we were suing teenagers for millions of dollars because they were torrenting a single Metallica album and now billionaires are demanding the free right to every work in history, do that they can re-sell it. The law only ever serves capital."
i hate this weird trend in fandom where subtext is seen as a Bad Thing and is only done if the creators are too cowardly to commit to showing something. i hate to break it to you but nuance and layers are what make stories interesting, if you have no subtext then you have a very flat story
sometimes things are subtext because they donât quite fit the tone of the story, or because the story isnât about that (and if they showed it outright they would have to take time to explore it), or sometimes the characters arenât ready to face it, or sometimes subtext is just the right choice for this specific story, or SOMETIMES itâs just fun and interesting to have underlying themes and implications!!!!
also just because itâs subtext doesnât mean itâs not deliberate or not meant to be part of the story. âwell if they WANTED it to be canon they shouldâve SAID SOâ some of us can understand implications. some of us enjoy thinking about the media we consume and donât just want everything handed to us on a silver platter. âwow i canât believe the writers didnât even realize what this impliesâ im going to beat you to death with hammers
thinking about that post of people assuming ao3 has an algorithm and also about how bonkers persistent the view is that ao3 is social media lite. like with startling regularity I get comments saying something along the lines of "it's probably weird to comment on a fic this old--" no it isn't!!!! this is an archive I am literally just assuming you searched for a selection of specific tags or sorted by kudos or looked back on my pseud or any other number of completely normal ways to use an archive site ?? kill the tiktok ghost in your brain and comment on old stuff it's NOT weird
Guess how many people contact us regularly to ASK for us to have an algorithm, go ahead. Because it's many. And I always take a little bit of enjoyment in explaining that no, we're not going to build a system to recommend fics to you based on your kudos, because for one thing that would be extra work, and for another thing that would require us to be tracking and using a lot more of your data than we want to. We actually do not want to monitor that people who liked Fic A also liked Fic B, or that people who like the tag "butt plugs" might also enjoy the tag "anal fisting", or whatever other nonsense seems to be the expectation these days. I already know enough (more than I'd love, in a perfect world!) about people's reading habits, and I don't want to have that knowledge deployed via algorithms on the Archive just because someone really wants an automated conveyer belt of content being streamed directly into their feed based on us extrapolating from their most commonly used tags or their most frequently visited works or whatever.
(I also do not want to imagine how many people would contact us to yell at us the second they got a 'bad' recommended fic. "I can't believe that you recommended this to me, you monsters!")
Anyway here's my favourite sentence to include in my answers: "We hope instead that users will take control of their own experience using the Archive, and choose for themselves what works they wish to view or not view." Apparently a novel view in this day and age.

At my parents place with 2 children watching YT on tablets and 2 adults watching tiktoks and reels on their phones and trying not to summon a comically sized Loony Toons hammer out of my back pocket to smash them all.
I'm rebloging this twice im tired of people not wearing headphones when watching videos in public. It's basic etiquette to wear headphones in public when you listen to things.
I cannot handle it. Please, why are children allowed to watch the coco melon at full volume everywhere and everyone is playing loud games and I don't want to HEAR and not see your FYP on tiktok.
I am BEGGING younger drivers. drive carefully. give yourself room. for fuck's sake use your turn signals and don't fucking weave thru traffic. this is not a video game, this is real life and if you get into an accident, you could get killed or kill someone else VERY easily
Here's the best advice my instructor told me: "You're going to have an accident. It's not a matter of if it's a matter of when and it may not even be your fault.
Drive so that when that accident happens it'll be as un-serious as possible"
That means use your seatbelt! The turn signals! And be aware of the speed limits and what other people are doing.
