Hellooooo everybody!!!! I'm in the process of job searching, but while I do that I've decided to open up art commissions. Examples of my work are above, and can be found in my #my art tag. All of these works are drawn in Clip Studio with a Wacom tablet. If you commission me I would send you regular updates through the thumbnail and sketching stage. There is 0 Generative AI involved in my work. If you'd like to commission me, please email me at flowersandtoads@ gmail.com (without the space)!
More details under the cut.
The standard sizes I work in are:
12inch x 12 inch square
11 inch x 17 inch rectangle
16 inch x 20 inch rectangle
However other sizes between 9x12 and 16x20 are available if you request!
I have two main styles I work in. One is a more stylized comic book style with black ink, and the other is a more realistic style that resembles a pencil drawing. They are priced differently because they require different amounts of detail and therefore less or more time. All prices are shown in USD.
For Style A, comic book the pricing is as follows:
Half body (shown top right and bottom right) - $70
Full body (shown top left) - $100
Additional characters (shown bottom left & right) +$50
adding color (shown right) + $30
Detailed background (shown bottom right) +$50
Style B, semirealism, has two rendering styles: sketched and painting.
For the sketches the pricing is as follows:
Portraits (shown bottom) are $75 for a sketch (bottom left)
Half body (shown top) are $100 for a sketch
Additional characters (shown top left) are +$50
A floral frame (shown bottom left) is +$30 for a sketch
Detailed backgrounds are +$50
a texture background or a pop of color is +$10
The black and white paintings can be seen in the bottom left example, and the pricing is as follows:
Portraits are $150
Half body paintings are $175
Additional characters are +$75
A floral frame is +$50
Detailed backgrounds are +100$
A textured background or a pop of color is +$20
A note about my work: I will do nonsexual nudity. I will NOT do NSFW, mecha, or political work. For my purposes I define political work as artwork relating to or depicting the flags of real countries, political or world leaders or activists, or relating to or depicting current real-world conflicts (ex war in Ukraine, Trump, etc etc).
I can do anthros if you want me to, but they won't look like the traditional furry style. My anthros tend to look like this:
If this is a style you're interested in, I will totally draw your fursona! It just won't look like a traditional furry.
If you'd like to commission me, please email me! Again, my email is flowersandtoads @ gmail.com without the spaces. You can dm me here but I will be more responsive if you email me.
I currently have three slots and they're all open.

You will have people that will go "they're silencing criticism of israel" and then when you look inside *their* criticism of Israel and its supporting; jews in Colorado being firebombed (yes, real thing a branch of SJP did recently), jews in the UK being stabbed for existing whilst jewish (yes, real thing a popular antizionist blog did recently), supporting synagogues in Australia being firebombed (yes, yet another real thing that happened on video) and harassing the survivors of the Bondi terrorist attack (yes, real thing reported in the news too), etc etc etc
Happy birthday to Lou Sullivan. He would have been 75 today. He had a great 40 years in which he left behind a legacy that still instills pride and acceptance in being trans. Imagine what all he’d have done with that extra 35 years.
So… nominative determinism. The kind of thing that gets us Harleen Quinzel/Harley Quinn, Victor Fries/Mister Freeze, and Roy G Bivalo/Rainbow Raider, not to mention lesser associations like Cliff Steele/Robotman or Sandy Hawkins/Sandman.
Is this an actual thing built into the fabric of our universe or just a lot of weird coincidences?
I mean the second part of that question is WAY above my pay grade if true, and on top of that I would have no way to prove it. The "Outer Beings" as Gwen likes to call them (they dislike the term "Higher" in relation to beings they don't worship) are very opaque in the way they run things and if they ARE bluntly referring to their "intentions" for a person by what they get named that sounds more like an article of faith than something I can defend with the methods I was taught.
That being said nominative determinism is like, a real thing. Or at least it's a real theory that we have a name for beyond needing to assume a turn for the fantastical
(A picture of the Rainbow Raider. Didn't know what else to put here and he is VERY silly)
For those of you unfamiliar, the idea of nominative determinism is based around the theory that people unconsciously seek professions or occupations that match the meaning of their name. Or at least a meaning adjacent to how their name sounds. The original, half joking, letter submitted to the journal New Scientist in 1994 used the example of a book on polar exploration being written by an author named Daniel Snowman. This idea expanded further and further as sort of a proto-meme in the scientific community as more and more examples were discovered.
Though of course when the subject was applied to the world of superheroes, which tends to be more flashy than the world of scientific journals, it took off as a much more MODERN kind of meme. As you said, in the world of supervillains we can name a few dozen examples of costumes criminals whose names seemed to have set them up for a life of costumed robbery or worse. Although I would keep in mind that the principle of nominative determinism probably ALREADY applied to most of these people BEFORE they went into supervillainy. Victor Fries was already a world renowned cryogenics expert before becoming a criminal, Bivalo was a color blind painting prodigy (which means that whoever is handing out these names seems to have a very cruel sense of humor).
What's also worth keeping in mind is that nominative determinism gives a LOT of leeway and is just as much a product of linguistic pareidolia as anything real. Like, there's just as much room for Dr. Quinzel to have become either a motorcycle designer, an opera performer or a birthday clown before she became a costumed criminal with a coincidental clown theme. And by that same token it could just be all in the head of the viewer. If, hypothetically, Batman's last name turns out to be "Bates" and we all point and laugh, is it because that actually means anything or just that "Bates" happens to be a really common name for white American families.
And, like most truisms of this kind, it's got a huge cloud of confirmation bias wafting around it. Gotham City has MILLIONS of residents and a few million more within working distance of the city. There are probably dozens of people with some variation on the names Rob, Robert or Robin Banks, a good chunk of them are probably related to each other. And if you checked I'm sure most if not all of them would be entirely normal people doing entirely normal work.
My last name is Sweeney, a name most often associated with a fictional barber serial killer from a famous British stage musical and, in order:
I have had the same haircut since I have had hair TO cut and the idea of styling or otherwise maintaining my hair sounds like annoyance personified
I don't even REMOVE spiders from my home anymore, let alone kill them, which tells you something about my capacity for violence.
The only person I would ever be a threat to with a straight razor is myself as I tried to figure out how to use the damn thing or which way to hold it.
I can't carry a tune in a bucket and my last stage experience was when I worked the camcorder for my high school theatre class.
Personally, looking into it. I'm willing to chalk this up to being a case of always being able to find a pattern if you go looking for one.
Ngl, I think the best argument against this is actually...Superman.
Because his name in Kryptonian happens to map perfectly onto Hebrew, and as far as I know the exact linguistic meaning of his name in Kryptonian is up for debate, but we do know it bears no resemblance whatsoever to the Hebrew word, so it's kind of impossible for him to be both. (I'd joke that he could secretly be a rabbi, but we see him too often during the High Holy Days for that.)
Oh that's fair. Do you have like. .. junior rabbi the way some churches do? He's still quite young. Or at least he looks young, who knows how fast kryptonians age. Idk in my head rabbi are venerable old men lol
There are probably a lot of OTHER reasons Superman can't be Jewish though, mainly the fact that he doesn't cover his hair and he'll eat food that isn't kosher
Well, he could be Conservative or Reform, although I doubt it.
Also, not to be crass, but....I'm not sure a bris is an option for a Kryptonian. Even assuming human-ish anatomy, how do you circumcise someone who's invulnerable?
Strictly speaking, no, because kryptonite would be harmful to both him and the performing rabbi. It would violate pikuach nefesh.
ON THE OTHER HAND
(Isn't there always an other hand in Judaism?)
It could be argued that even if Superman looks fully human when nude (dear Supes if you're reading this I am so sorry), he's not human, and therefore is not actually a man, and therefore is not subject to the mitzvah of circumcision. Just to be clear, in Judaic terms that doesn't mean "oh, you're just confused, you're not really a man." It just means "for the purposes of adjucating and interpreting religious law, you're something else." There are actually cases like this described in Talmud (albeit with humans), constituting a total of eight sexes (often condensed to six), so there is legal ground to start from.
ON THE OTHER HAND
This leads to an extremely thorny question about whether one's gender is a matter of expression or biological circumstance. Orthodox Judaism currently holds the latter to be true; that is, whatever genitalia you're born with, that's what you are. Reform holds the former to be true, which takes us back to the original question (if Superman identifies with the human male gender, is he then male, or something else, and if male, how do we perform a bris?), and Orthodoxy might literally have to have an argument about how to sex Kryptonians.
All of this is dependent on him having external human male anatomy, though, and that's nobody's business but his own, so it's a bit of a moot point.
Technically speaking it's never been confirmed that he identifies with the human male gender. We know he uses human male PRONOUNS (and obviously uses the word "man" in his codename) but he's never exactly said "I am a cis man" into a live microphone.
Also he has nipples. which probably doesn't have anything to do with anything but it is an observation that has been made.
Go back. What the fuck is going on with Kryptonians that they look exactly like humans down to hair and nipples? Do they breastfeed or do the nipples serve some other purpose?
All the people defending this in the notes are essentially saying "yes cisscentric feminism actively erases trans men but that's fine because no one was thinking about you anyway!" We're aware. We're telling you that's a problem. Cis is a three letter word. Pericis is only seven.
We need to start including trans and intersex men in discussions about reproductive healthcare and we NEED to stop feeding into the idea that only women can get pregnant.

Reference sheets/layers for Dina Mahariel, circa Awakening. I've been rotating the idea of a plague doctor inspired Grey Warden uniform around in my head for years now, and I think this is the form it's going to take. The idea is to minimize exposure to the Blight as much as possible - every piece can be taken off and either boiled or cleaned with direct fire once the Warden gets back to the Surface.
Tumblr borked the crispness a little but I am incredibly pleased with how these came out!! I keep looking at her face and thinking, I've always wanted to be able to draw like that. And now I have! Hopefully I can get a color and tattoo ref done for artfight.
Assorted other notes and rambling below:
First layer - stockings, shirt, and fall-front breeches. Pretty basic. The shirt and breeches both lace closed. I almost gave them the classic Dragon age belt buckles, but I decided laces a)would be easier to undo and b)made more sense for the Dalish, since metal is probably expensive for them, as they'd have to either trade for it or loot it, they'd want to save it for where it's more useful. Her stockings have a Dalish clocking pattern specific to ena'len (third gender Dalish) - you can't really see it but it's the same pattern she has tattooed on her knees.
Casual - for casualwear she adds a tablet-woven belt and a landshun, which is the scarf she has around her neck. Fereldan Dalish tend to wear their landshun especially large, so they can pull them up over their heads for warmth. It's sort of the Dalish version of tzitzit, because I can - 9 strings tied at each corner, 8 blue wrapped around a central red and knotted, representing the Evanuris symbolically binding Fen'Harel. The pattern on her belt is specific to devotees of June.
Uniform first layer - gambeson, boots, and gloves. Since she's left handed, her right glove comes up higher to protect her arm while she shoots. Her quiver also has the Warden-Commander's insignia on it so she's identifiable from the back. Also her hair is pulled back, bc duh.
Second layer - breastplate, fauld, tasset, gorget, pauldron, bracer, and belt. Because she's primarily an archer, she's armored more heavily on the side she holds the bow on, since it faces the enemy. This was pretty heavily inspired by a mix of the da2 Warden armors and Veilguard's Footsoldier's Armaments, which is one of the few armors in Veilguard I actually like. Commander's insignia on the pauldron and gorget. With the addition of a helmet, it's the standard uniform for Warden business on the Surface, particularly if not fighting darkspawn.
Despite being an archer she does carry a back up dar'misu, which in canon is a weird ass shape. I poked around at real curved swords and daggers, and decided to take inspiration from the ayda katti and moplah, since they're used to cut undergrowth, which I thought made sense as something the Dalish would carry.
Third layer - Full on plague doctor. Worn when in the Deep Roads. The tabard has rank markings on both front and back, and the scales can easily be taken off and burned or cleaned individually to stop the spread of the Blight. The griffon helmet is based on a hounskull helmet.
This image is funny, I'll give you that, but maybe part of the reason no one ever knows when conservatives are talking about trans men is because its never taken seriously.
"Haha, they're talking about men being pregnant, isn't that funny. Anyway, its like conservatives always forget that trans men exist. Wonder why that is?"
My brother in christ, YOU forgot we exist. Conaervatives are VERY aware that we exist, and they make sure trans men are very aware that they know we exist too.
I don't know if I'm being too brainwormed to say it's a specific threat of sexual violence, too. As in, "Just checked, men still can't get pregnant" is a reminder between bigots that trans men's manhood can be unambiguously removed (in the eyes of society and the state) by pregnancy. Which is a short stretch to the same kind of "jokes" about being able to "humble" women or "put them in their place" by thinking about them sexually.
Women’s protests in Afghanistan are an important issue that deserves much more attention from the media.
A few months ago, I was on a tram when I met an Afghan woman speaking Persian. Since Persian is my first language, I joined her conversation. She shared her hope that one day Afghan women will be able to protest against the Taliban, just as women in Iran have done.
Today, Afghan women are showing incredible courage by standing up against policies that try to control their bodies and their lives. These policies, introduced since 2021, have included restrictions such as revoking access to education and limiting women’s presence in public spaces.

I see how it is. When it’s one of your favs like Daniel Radcliffe, or RDJ, or Maya Rudolph, or Elizabeth Taylor, they’re not really Jewish™, because they’re also an atheist, or have mixed lineage, or aren’t “the right half,” or they converted.
Nevermind that there are articles, videos, etc. where these celebs directly say “I consider myself to be Jewish.” Nevermind that they’ve had Jewish weddings or funerals, nevermind that they have publicly claimed Jewish identities. You don’t want them to be Jewish, so they’re not.
But then when Jews are upset because somebody who describes their relationship to Jewishness as “having a half-Jewish parent” rather than being Jewish themselves, and writes with a narrative voice that suggests they are completely disconnected from any Jewish identity at all, makes offensive, antisemitic jokes, suddenly y’all are Wikipedia detectives coming at me with “Oh no, you can’t be mad at Trevor Noah for his comments; he has a jewish grandparent, so he’s Jewish too!”
Goyim, I’m sorry to burst your bubble, but you don’t actually get to define somebody’s Jewishness based on how convenient that Jewishness might be for you in a given situation. Our identities are not here for you to cherry pick, especially not when you want to do so in order to invalidate our feelings and experiences. Or at the very least, you could try not to be so damn obvious about it.
