Due to his unrelenting determination to keep his town safe, Danny is bestowed a green lantern ring. Which on one hand: Yay! He gets to explore space full time. But on the other hand: Ew! he's a space cop now.
He had to rectify this immediately or he would never hear the end of it from his ghost friends. Or his regular friends for that matter. Sayyy, it'd be a shame if he.... bent a few rules. Maybe even broke some of them every now and again. And it would surely be a tragedy if say.... random pranks started happening around Oa?
The ring only stays on when Danny is in his human form. Whenever Danny goes ghost his ring thinks he’s died and goes looking for a new wielder (you ever chase a ring across the country side. Not fun).
Danny ends up having to wear one of those chain ring bracelet things.
Sam uses this as an excuse to give Danny a punk/goth makeover.
Oh? My? God?? Do you think the ring sends a distress signal to Oa/nearby (presumably) Elder And More Experienced Lanterns?
Because??? Look at it from the RINGS perspective! According to IT'S sensors? New baby Lantern. They're almost immediately dead. You find a new one. Also almost immediately dead. You find a NEW one.
Dead. New one? Dead. Next... one? Dead. Surely not THIS one! Not even an hour, Dead.
Either there is some sort of HORRIFYING unreported planetside War or hostile faction targeting what you sensors ASSURE you is a young adult/late adolescent of the species? Or somebody is HUNTING DOWN NEWLY APPOINTED LANTERNS!
The species Homo Sapien is SUPPOSED to average around 80 to 100 "year" units of time as a lifespan! What is HAPPENING!? This is above its limited ability to problem solve! It needs higher ups! Immediate reinforcements!
Dear Oa, it CANT lose another one! They keep DYING! D:>
All the while, Danny is like?? Great. Now the ring is mad it's in Baby Jail (on a chain). It keeps attacking anything that moves too fast around me, makes even VAGUELY threatening statements, or wears a Halloween mask. It just punched a hole in the wall.
(I'LL PROTECT YOU, NUMBER 53! This time, YOU won't di-! NOOOOOO! Not AGAAAAAAIN!)
(54! It's gonna be OKAY! Somehow, someway! I'll protect you until reinforcements arrive! We'll make it! By the Great Battery That Made Me! We'll make iiiit! *sobs in very confused Ring*)
This is beautiful!
Danny just accidentally traumatizing the entire Lantern Corps. Then with all the "brilliance" of a 14 year old, weaponizing that trauma to deal with the GIW.
I'd like to see him realize how fucked up that is. That he let them believe almost 200 human teenagers were murdered by the GIW. When he could have explained what was really happening and probably still gotten help dealing with them because what they are doing/want to do to the denizens of the Infinite Realms isn't actually any better than murdering 200 human children.
Obviously he'd be forgiven. Because he is just a 14 year old. Standing on the front lines, trying desperately to prevent a war that can only end in mass casualties and destruction. Who can really blame him at jumping at the first chance he sees to stop this. Even if it was by extremely unethical means. Obviously he just needs a mentor.
And some help explaining to his Ring that Sometimes Dead is a normal and healthy state of being for him.
Now imagine when Ring learns that she didn't fail, 1 NEVER died but was half dead BEFORE she arrived on earth! she didn't fail, she's not a failure (she's totally crying inside at the realization) then she realizes…she somehow found an immortal bearer? she will NEVER have to lose this one! she will NEVER again be in the position of not being able to cry and having to once again scour space in search of a new worthy carrier… it's… it's wonderful (cries again)
Now if only its carrier could explain this to OA too…
A combination of the rings Danny related trauma and exposure to ectoplasm causes her to develop into a pseudo ghost. She basically becomes one of those helper fairies from video games and is intent on keeping Danny/1 alive whether he likes it or not. Yes 1 may be immortal but she had trauma.
Danny is not having a good time because Ring is like Jazz but worse. She’s always on him about his sleeping habits, getting enough fluids and keeps dragging him to Frostbite for check ups.
…
Rings looks
Little fairy alien girl with glowing wings.
Chain around her waist attached to Danny’s wrist.
Green black and white color scheme.
Rings personality
Over protective
Yandere when it comes to Danny’s health and well being
Has PTSD
oh my god it's cute, but I also understand that Danny is tired and irritated by her :')
And when she heard frostbite call Danny the great one? it engraved the name of the 1 for Danny in her home, no matter what Danny says, it's his name now :D
What if she comes across another ring? already the other carrier will be very very confused, but then she would spend her time saying how HER carrier is the best tm!!! even if it gave him some scares at the start.
And if the kingdoms come to view her as not just a baby ghost, but Danny's baby ghost, she's the baby princess of the kingdoms and everyone loves her! No one treats it like an object, jewelry or powerful but replaceable tool/weapon :')
Danny ends up being the only one who is unpleasant with her…but hey…he is also the first person to defend her if someone says something that makes her feel bad!!!
Ring is happy with her current life :D although it would be better if Danny finished his vegetables and his glasses of water!
Now I'm just imagining some other Green Lanterns being bemused when Danny talks to his ring and shocked when it talks back.
Danny: What, yours don't do that? Well, I guess all the ectoplasm from the portal does have a tendency to spontaneously animate things. *thousand yard stare* We don't talk about the hotdogs.
Other GLs: WTF?
Jazz thoroughly approves of her niece. You tell him sweetie!
What would Oa's reaction be to knowing that their equipment played a role in making a teen parent?
Also, if Danny's ring is a ghost, now does that mean she no longer needs charging (because she's self sufficient) or that she needs more charging (to sustain these more complex processes while she's learning and growing, like how human babies need to be fed hourly).
I mean, ghosts survive off ecto. So long as she is with Danny she has spare energy. If they are in Amity or the Realms? Plenty spare.
Pfft. I'm picturing that she's still a ring in her primary form and it acts as a core either on Danny's finger or the bracelet and the fairy princess is a construct she makes for herself. And since it's a construct she's in full control of her appearance and chooses to be a little green fairy princess.
So when Danny is talking to the ring she's not having her construct out. But when the lanterns start laughing she pops out as a tiny fairy construct and tells them off for being rude to HER BABY LANTERN! Before answering Danny's question about the sector while perched on his shoulder.
Later conversation is held by Oa's counsel to determine how to classify a species like Danny's that can appear dead while still being healthy to avoid a potential repeat. Especially since Danny offhandedly mentioned Elle and Vlad and that his whole town is somewhat like him(liminal).
They finally figure it out the first time they see him as Phantom… to them he has an aura of wavering white and black. Life and death.
Some of the more ancient entities are scandalized to see a black aura at Oa (say that five times fast) and argue the ring should be removed from the dead bearer whose heart still sometimes beats. Their arguments are drowned out.
Remember when we thought there was an apocalyptic crisis on the Earth planet? And we swore to aid them. The soul’s intent hasn’t changed, and in fact the death aura is AIDING the ring. None of ours have the level of communication and trust that the baby Lantern and his ring do.
.......Sooooooooooo this may have gotten a little out of hand.....annnnnd I wrote this on my phone so please excuse any mistakes please.

(ID. of hypewinter's tags under the cut)
This is fascinating. I don't feel heartbroken for the ring this much when she shows signs of sapient consciousness early (the earlier posts where she is really emotional and dynamic. Still fun reading those tho. Just not as gut punching).
(ID. of tiamatsan's tags under the cut)
@tiamatsan you really outdid yourself! I'll rotate this au in my mind 24/7 now. Just... how much guilt this ring contained when she thought her bearer had sacrificed themself (to charge her up) for a slim change that she might go on and protect the next one? Uughhh *screaming, crying, eating drywall*
Now I want the heroes' POVs asdfghjkl
Like, for example, their reactions of seeing the lastest "victim" of GIW...
Danny needs to infiltrate into its headquarter for the plan to be effective right? And to make it look serious? Just, the dedication to be petty of teenagers is scary, guys.
What scarier would be the force of heroes who think they already failed hundreds of life. Life that end too soon. The data says the victims were young but they don't expect it to be that young. The experience will haunt them for a long time...
Fuck, this au is so cool. I'm so hyped rn.
tony stark + that lovely speed boat look
Jason's a 10 while his boyfriend looks mid
In Gotham University where Jason is studying literature, while Danny is studying engineering. Nobody knew how they even met, but they both showed up one day going out with each other.
Nobody knew why exactly Jason, who is an absolutely beefcake, built like a fridge, was with a guy that totally looks like a loser. He was tinier than Jason - a complete twink-, he often gets up to run to the bathroom citing stomach problems, once you set him off about something, he'll never stop yapping about it.
So, one brave student went up to Jason and asked the question. Why him?
Jason just smirked and tilted his head at Danny.
"Open your mouth."
Danny does so obligingly in confusion. What he didn't know nor did he realise was that once he did, his features started to distort, looking more...not human.
His teeth were sharp and jagged, his mouth was like a gaping abyss, so dark that the only thing that you see was more and more teeth. His eyes took more of a green hue, skin turned paler, and his freckles shone like the stars.
Danny then rolled out his tongue, which came out long and serpentine, flicking it a bit before rolling it back into his mouth, becoming normal once more.
Jason gave a lovesick lustful look at him.
The student immediately understood and simply said 'Have a nice day', because they get why. Teratophilia is a thing, people.
Jason is gonna get some fun new friends from that admittance. Not to mention the people trying to woo Danny. Or beg for one night with the both of them.
Oh, definitely. DC's universe might have more for those with that kink to lust after, but most aren't peaceful or sane. Danny's not only both but he's civilized enough that no one realized that he wasn't human until now.
Which is of course, an absolute win. Jason you madlad, HOW did you find him!?!?!?!?! It's not fair! Show us to the pretty shiny eldritch beings in our area!

Consequences of the Justice League
DP x DC Prompt
The Justice League has had Red Huntress on their list of people to recruit. Yet, they were told to wait because of Constantine. He said that Ghosts are not what they think, and recruiting Red Huntress before Constantine reaches out to Phantom could have dire consequences.
If Constantine is right, then Phantom is a Protector Spirit. And he will need to learn more about Protector Spirits to get Phantom to join Justice League Dark BEFORE the Justice League recruits Red Huntress.
From what the Hellblazer has learned from other Ghosts and such, Phantom is a Protector Spirit that is dangerously close to abandoning his role.
A Protector Spirit that abandons its role is incredibly dangerous. As a Protector Spirit keeps the worst of the worst at bay with just their presence alone. And if a gate to the Infinite Realms has no Protector Spirit nearby, then malevolent Ghosts will come rushing through the gate and cause a lot of destruction wherever they go. Once those malevolent Ghosts are in the living world, they get stronger and more confident. The only way to get those malevolent Ghosts back into the Infinite Realms is with the Protector Spirit that they feared to beat them back into the gate they came from.
Constantine was about to go and recruit Phantom and help the Protector Spirit move the gate, he hears that Red Huntress has been recruited, in front of Phantom, who had quickly run away soon after.
Now they need to find Phantom soon, as in less than a day, the Lingering presence of the Protector Spirit will fade from the gate he was guarding, and then they will be under the constant attacks of malevolent Ghosts because of the Justice League being to impatient.
Danny had blasted away the moment he figured he could. What the hell was up with that sad, sad, jigsaw-souled man? The justice league were cool and all, and he could definitely see the need for a ghost specialist on the side of the heroes.
Even if Constantine is right, Danny is half human. He has human dreams and desires for his future. He didn't want to be a hero in the first place! He did it because there was no one else available. Better come up with a better solution than convincing Danny to stay, because he deserves to be able to pursue his own future.
I need one of the Ancients to go looking for "the Great One", "the little Dreamer/Star", "young Warrior", "friend of the Daughter of the Green", "Storm Wielder".
Frost Bite, Nocturn, Pandora, Undergrowth, and even Vortex were not told of Phantom leaving his portal. They didn't think he even could. It's not like he's a regular Protector Spirit, this was his Grave! Most Ghosts can't leave their Graves for very long and prefer to have a Haunt around it. Of course, Phantom's Haunt was massive, even compared to older Ghosts. A whole town, plus some of the area outside it. That didn't stop the fact Phantom slept right above his Grave for most of his existence!
He's only four years dead! He needed the ectoplasm to grow.
He's a toddler compared to other Ghosts, but a fetus to the Ancients.
Clockwork refuses to say anything, but even his mood is down. Which only riles the other Ancient and Unquiet Dead. Many question if the GIW or Fenton's did something to him. And the Red Huntress suddenly having backup doesn't help. Especially as true monsters start coming through the Portal.
Meanwhile, Danny's having fun and is so excited for classes! He's relating to his peers. His food isn't attacking him. He can get a full night's rest! The only thing that sucks is the light pollution.
Which is easily fixed by flying into the atmosphere himself.
He has to have a Ghost clone hold him while he, in human form, holds the camera to take pictures and send to his friends. It helps prevent the static from Ghost powers.
"Danny, you'll need to go down. Soon. You're getting too cold."
"Don't worry Janus." Which was what he called any other facet of himself, given the god had two faces. "Just a few more pictures. I need to bring a coat next time."
"And probably a blanket."
"Yeah. Okay. I'm done. Look at this one!"
"Oh, sick!"
Superman watches, and listens, from afar. And makes some revelations while watching the pair. As well as making his own conclusions.
Sorry Amity. Blame the Fentons for building the portal in the first place.
I think the ancients/full ghosts are experiencing misunderstandings about Danny's perspective, because Danny isn't a full ghost. Danny has a lot more mental flexibility than a ghost because he's still half human.
The whole infantilization angle is something that always rubbed me wrong in baby ghost Danny fics. He might not be a matured ghost, but he's still mentally a human teenager and maturing at a human pace.
Understandable! I think it's really only the Ancients that do the infantilization., TBH. While the regular Ghosts all view Danny in the lense of a Full Ghost sometimes, they don't view him as a child outside his actual age. So, when he was 14? They treated him the same why they'd treat a freshman in highschool. Now that he's an actual adult? That's an adult. A young adult, but he's still an adult.
I also think it'd be interesting if they knew that, while put into the role by fate, Phantom isn't Obsessed with protecting others or protecting his Gate/Portal/Grave. Phantom didn't knowingly make Amity Park his Haunt. He's specifically doing all the fighting and protecting because he feels guilty about helping open the portal. Because he feels responsible. Because he was the only one who could.
They know that. Even if the Ancients don't.
But it doesn't explain why he suddenly disappeared. He didn't even say goodbye. Where was their reluctant Protector, who made sure both Ghost and Human were safe? Who was going to fight with them? Who was going to make fudge for the Christmas Truce?
Who was going to stop beings like Spectra from coming out and hurting humans and Ghosts alike?
Amity definitely blames the Fenton's. Mostly the parents, since both kids are moved away.
I really want Constantine to look at a picture from when Phantom was just starting as a hero and comparing it to the young man he saw. Ghosts rarely ever age. Usually only as a change in perception of themselves or is a reaction to growing into more power.
Talking to the few Ghosts of the Infinite Realms explains a bit. That Phantom technically beat the Ghost King in combat, even if it was just pushing him back into his Sarcophagus of Forever Sleep. And using Fenton Technology.
Which, given that Superman revealed that Phantom followed the son to Metropolis and seemed very close? Explains some thing's. The fact the Protector Spirit decided long ago not to protect it's Gate, but a person, isn't really encouraging. It just means they have to convince the Fenton to come back.
Oh, I love this so much. Fake Pitch pearl is one of my favorite types of misunderstandings, especially if Danny commits to the bit.
Now, what does the League knows after a bit of research and gently interrogating Phantom's(Janus?) usual rouges and allies?
1) Apparently, the gate counts as Phantom's grave. Constantine feels his headache get even worse cause, holy fuck, he didn't get the whole explanation of what went down when the league confronted Phantom, but it has to be BAD if they managed to make a ghost voluntarily leave his resting place.
2) Phantom was never really enthusiastic about being Amity's protector. But he did it anyway, even when everyone made him public enemy number 1. There where many occasions where Phantom seemed annoyed about having to deal with other ghosts attacking, still he always fought them. And he responded way quicker when the attack was at school (reaction that now they correlate to Danny being in immediate danger).
3) Unfortunately for many, Phantom is NOT bound to Amity or the gate. Phantom can, in fact, leave whenever he wants. And the League made him leave.
4) If they don't bring Phantom back, everyone's fucked.
And thanks to Superman, now they know Phantom is protecting Danny Fenton. So it's pretty obvious what they need to do next; convince Danny to go back to Amity.
Surely, if they talk with the boy, he will understand and cooperate... Or so they thought.
They were wrong.
Turns out Danny really likes what he has now and is not willing to give up from it just to fix Justice League's mistakes. Aren't they supposed to be the best heroes on the planet? Then they should find a way to fix things themselves.
When they asked Danny to at least call their boyfriend so they can maybe convince Phantom to go back and protect the gate, Danny looked at them like they were crazy. They thought that because he wasn't out of the closet, and because his parents wouldn't aprove his relationship with a ghost, Danny was pretending to not be Phantom's boyfriend. They insisted so much Danny just went "You know what? Fuck it. Yeah, Phantom's my boyfriend, no you cannot talk with him. Fuck off."
Can we add that while this is going on, Valerie is dealing with Genuinely Malevolent Ghosts that include Spectra as the least malevolent getting through?
Danny is FINALLY safe, finally able to learn and grow how he’s been denied For Years and is genuinely thriving. And Phantom openly only appears to go flying with Danny or stick close to him from JL pov.
Constantine also realizing that Phantom ONLY protected Amity as Danny lived there, and visibly did not want to and even helped train Red Huntress bothers Constantine as it isn’t quite adding up, but he has shit to do.
Finding out Danny was close with Phantom, likely the first nice person to him regarding the guy’s death and apologetic about the portal on his grave, resulting in Phantom seeing Danny being targeted by ghosts and deciding he will protect the human that protects him?
JLD share a loud swearing contest. Especially as Red Huntress admits Danny was not treated well in town, and well known to be neglected by his parents after the ghosts appeared with ecto weapons targeting him constantly. Danny was truamatized out of that town and not even an apocalypse ending event would convince him to put himself through that and put his entire life on hold again.
Danny? Chilling with his ‘boyfriend’ and got permission from his university, campus police and local gov to keep carry his ecto weapons openly as those malevolent ghosts? May avoid Phantom still but they see Danny as Weak Human. Danny reminds them he does not need Phantom—he’s the Fenton that got that stupid machine working and fixes the tech on the fly mid-battle. He’s the dangerous one they forgot, and is liberally reminding them to Fuck The Hell Off.
Danny is leaving the crisis to the professionals and will keep himself and his friends safe, but that’s about it. He’s been stuck mostly ghost for four years and it chaffed his being. He’s half ghost sure, but he’s human too and humans adapt and are malleable. Plus, he never liked his ‘grave’ as it felt incorrect. He died there sure, but no one memorialized him and he’s still rocking his body so its his death place—not his grave. He doesnt claim it.
Are all sorts of genuinely dangerous things escaping? Sure.
Danny’s chilling at Ember’s pre-concert show room while they catch up and she’s just happy he’s living his life and ‘acting like the teen he is, not what The Man wants to make him’. If skulker is helping do a tech check while Danny plays security for her when she leaves, well. She agreed to active use of mind-control on the ghostly side, and he gets to let out mid-term rage on any ghostly party crashers as Janus and any creeps as Danny. Win-win.
When a normal rogue does try to break in, Danny has them dead to rights with a Fenton Net Gun and a small ecto-shot for them to stay silent while the show was going.
If this moment goes viral, well. Danny looks average so most don’t connect the dots.
Constantine does and complains to the JL as “Phantom’s boyfriend made ghost friends. And protects them from the living. I think we know how the two got together with his parents’ occupation.”
Red Huntress just reblogs the video and says “yeah, Danny’s always been like this with his people. Even back in middle school—go after him its fine, go after Tucker? Boy will be making sure that beating is split between them and manage some choice words when the ass isnt looking.”
She’s got Shit To Do and a JL salary now. Danny does answer her questions on more malevolent ghosts and how to take them out as ‘can you ask your ghost friends how i get rid of a wraith killing people?’ And Danny will get the correct answer on how to seal one when her tactics dont work, but that’s all he’s willing to do and she can’t blame him for it.
If Ember is seen acting as a protectress of Teens and actively hunting ghosts targetting them between sets? Danny just says ‘teen spirit is what she needs to live, why wouldn’t she protect them?’
Malevolent entities are crawling out from everywhere, but a lot of ghosts that have a protective aspect are being their own brand of helpful (think Lunch Lady ensuring better meals in low-income areas for schools and harassing everyone into passing these bills without the lunch debt nonsense, and if anyone tries shit in a cafeteria, congrats, she’s in Fight Mode with her obsession’s necessities around her. Run.)
Danny isnt acting as he sees this as what was going to happen since the portal opened. Raw malevolence is escaping sure, but there’s more good in ghosts than people give many credit for. Especially since Sydney’s made a point of organizing bullied ghosts to protect victims and stand up against bullies in school by any means necessary.
Ghost fights are just an everywhere issue now, not just amity.
JLD are not happy, nor the JL but Danny is doing nothing wrong and somehow lowering overt danger to wherever he is by making low-stakes deals with ghosts passing through metrolpolis U
Phantom getting asked why he's leaving his Grave to stay with Danny, only for Phantom to say that it wasn't his Grave. Then, it comes up that Fenton went to the hospital right after the Gate/Portal was opened, with notes of how he was electrocuted and facing problems holding anything or standing too long for a while afterwards.
Constantine, with true sight, can see that Phantom and Fenton are connected. As if part of the same Soul. Meeting these two was obviously a bad idea. Constantine knew he had to get Danny to go to Amity Park. But didn't realize just how important it was.
Because the Gate was Danny's Grave. Not Phantom's.
Phantom is the guardian of the Key to the Gate. And Danny is the Key. But closing the Gate would mean sacrificing the Key. And Constantine is 100% sure they'd lose if they even tried.
Cause, while Danny's Soul is filled with ice, stardust, and life, Phantom is something completely other. He doesn't have a Core in him, having regulated what was essentially his heart to Danny. But he did have the Crown of Fire and the Ring of Rage.
(Danny didn't want those on his person, but understands needing them close. So his clone is a good substitute. It also allows for the clone to be powered partly by them, as well. Keeping Danny from straining too hard while carrying the Cores of his kids.)
Phantom was created specifically to protect the Key of the Gate. It was only because the Key willed it, that Phantom protected Amity Park. Which included fighting the Ancients and somehow winning. He was strong enough to defeat Pariah Dark in combat to protect said Key. Phantom made himself a near copy of Danny, was named by the human boy, and only continued to exist because of him. Danny holds Phantom's Core in his chest. If Danny were to die, there's no confirmation that Phantom would as well. It was possible, as was the possibility of Phantom just going insane and ending their state of reality.

I was just thinking about Dannys hatred for Christmas and how funny / odd itd be if Amity's citizens start noticing how snappy and overly emotional and aggressive Danny gets in December and start to collectively think it's because he died in December and is still having a hard time processing it.
Been thinking more about this.
*If the theory that "ghosts exhibit powers based on how they died." Is popular in amity. Then Dannys Ice powers may also Aid the rumor that He died during the winter.
* Danny's hazmat suit could be mistaken for a ski suit.
I mean....
It would be a more logical leap for what he's wearing than a hazmat suit.
I feel like most people wouldn't even know what a hazmat suit looks like anyway.
* most people headcannon that Amity Park is in Illinois.
That state has like 5 ski resorts
I bet you Casper High even has a ski/ snowboarding team.
-----
I'm just saying I could completely see people running with the idea 😅💖
You know there is that myth that avalanches can happen when you yell?
It's not true. A human can't yell that loud. It's not possible. But it is certainly entrenched in people's minds, right?
If you were buried in an avalanche, you would obviously try to get out. But if you couldn't yelling for help seems a logical step.
Too bad snow is pretty good an insulating sound.
Too bad you can't yell loud enough to clear away all that snow.
Let's add one more thing!
Maybe people also start to theorize that the reason why Phantom is always so quick to intervene and finish the fight to save the civilians is that the avalanche rescue never made it in time.
There is a thing called 15 golden minutes, where the buried person can still be saved, so maybe someone out of curiosity tries to time Phantom's fights and they are all less than a quarter of hour...
Fueling the Skii Incident Theory!
What do you think?
( ╹▽╹ )
I LOVE THIS 👀👀💖
Do they know about the Christmas truce? Because if they didn’t I could see some thinking that the ghosts leave phantom and amity alone because it’s when he died. Like the ghosts don’t mess with him at that time and they already think that is when he died so it has to be connected in their minds. Also I wonder if they use his appearance in this theory. He died in snow and now he has SNOW white hair. And his eyes are bright green and glow so that he’d be easier to spot in snow? Sorry that it’s rushed.
Oh no I LOVE THIS 💖💖
@nonbinary-disaster to add to your green eyes theory.
Green Is the color marker used to say a path is easy/ safe.
So Phantom is saying he is safe and dangerous given his color scheme 😅💖
Adding @beaniebaneenie comments cause they rock 👀💖
Dude the EYE thing. 👀👀💖💖
Black suit with bright green signal-esque highlights... first thought I had with regard to the color scale and his color scheme was something along the lines of "a path that was marked safe and green turned out to be really really not while he was on it (and it buried him in his suit)"
If he's assumed to've been an out-of-town tourist/visitor, it would also explain why they can't find a local grave or obituary. Because he was in the area for vacation when he died, and the evidence, paper-trail, etc, is mostly in the area where his family actually lives.
All of that convinced me that the Skii Incident Theory is cooler than The Portal Accident. i'll definitely will include that for my next au!
sad to see OP deactivated, but
consider
an offhand comment from Danny along the lines of
"good luck finding me-my parents never can!"
and now the town is convinced that not only did he die in a ski accident, but his corpse was left on that trail and never located.
This also implies that’s Danny’s parents routinely come back to search for his body. And now the tow is looking into families that routinely visit using phantoms first appearance as a marker for when he could have died and cross referencing it with anyone who was there in the year frames
First off, read the reblogs cuz there is so much good stuff in there
Second off, what is someone asks him where he died?
"what do you mean, where did I die?" Danny was very confused. He knew that Dash was a huge fan, but looking for his body seemed a bit too obsessive.
"Well, we were wondering if you had any idea of where you died so we could make you a memorial, a grave or something?"
"Nuh uh man, I am NOT bringing people there. Especially living breathing very alive people! I died there! It is dangerous and I make sure people don't go there for a reason!" In the distance, there was a loud yell.
"WHELP! I WILL HAVE YOUR PELT FOR MY WALL!!"
"And that's my cue to leave! Don't! And I mean DON'T! Go looking for my corpse." Danny flew away, leaving a very concerned and confused Dash where he was standing
Hi. I do not go here. Everything I know about this show and these characters, I learned through osmosis from being friends with a fan. Apologies if I have this completely wrong. But doesn't Danny detect the ghosts by breathing out a little puff of chilled air, with visible condensation?
Imagine that in their search for him they find other bodies, so they just end up being able to give those people proper burials. They feel good about it but at the same time it’s not the body they were looking for.
And on the sideline is Danny making sure nothing happens and is just confused (if he still doesn’t know why they think he’s there). (And if he does) is just proud that other people are gonna get proper graves.
Amity Park & Danny
:
Little idea wiggling about in my brain...
So like *holds Danny and Billy up by the scruff of their shirts* these two bastards won't leave my brain, and for punishment I will make them kiss...
Just, the Rock of eternity technically is Shazam's (the wizards) haunt? He has been dead for a long time, living only though his champion, what if Ghost King Danny gets slapped with a post it note that reads like
"Daniel, you're required to assist the Champion of Magic as the High King of the Realms, even Pariah helped the previous Champion Black Adam."
And Danny is like, "Sure, why not, Magic is real and so are ghosts."
And like....
Sparky Danny meeting Literal Sun Beam Billy, they are both 14, it's puppy love at its finest. Danny doesn't know what to do with gay panic and Billy is just straight up "This man is my soul mate, he shall be mine." (Call iy Zeus bestowing more than just lightning)
The leauge is very concerned why Captain Marvel seems to have a seeming underage partner.
Superman squinting very hard and trying to figure this out: So...just how old is Phantom?
Billy, unaware how bad this looks: Oh I don't know honestly, it's kinda hard to tell with beings from the Realms! Though he died when he was 14!
Superman, gripping the table (which cracks a little) :And how exactly long has he been 14?
Billy, taking out his phone and flipping out pictures: Like I said, I don't really know how old he is, but there is Egyptain hieroglyphics of him! Look!
Superman, blinking at the very real looking pictures: Ahh. Fun cool cool cool...a-and how are you again Cap?
Billy mindlessly swiping the photos, excited to show off his boyfriend:Never said it, but he is definitely older than I am.
(Danny is older by a month, Billy calls him an old man for it.)
Billy gets to live full time in Danny's haunt in the Zone, Danny built him like the best house, Tucker and Sam get to meet Billy and they just are flabbergasted that Danny "I can't get a girl to date me or else she ends up wanting to kill me" Fenton has a boyfriend that has been going steady for a few months.
My brain sees like, Maddie and Jack are 100% backing Danny, they are fully supportive of their bi/gay/pan son, but in no way would they support him if he was a ghost, like they are organizing Amitys first ever Pride parade, but there is a shoot ghosts on sight order.
And just the reveal is like...
Danny gets finally tells them he is a ghost: if you start shooting me, your shooting the only Gay person you know, not very ally of you mom and Dad.
Maddie mouth open in horror: Oh no...Jack are...are we homophobic?
Jack sharing her look of fear: Great Scott...Dann-o a-are you sure...its...it's a life style right? Y-you chose this?
Danny, trying very, very hard not to laugh: It's not a life style dad! I didn't choose to Die!
Anyway, thank you for coming to my brain word vomit, I haven't slept in 20 hours.
Justice League at CM: "So wait... he's older than you???"
Captain Marvel turning to look at Danny and finally getting what they mean: "Oohhhhh lol, yea he's older than me. He just stays in that form cus he met an evil older version of himself once and decided to avoid that at all costs."
Justice league knowing that evil alternative selves are legit just an occupational hazard at this point: "Okay but doesn't the visual age gap make it weird?"
Danny feeling like giving Billy an out with his alternate form: "Nah he also takes a 14 year old form when we're hanging out. We're not really at the physical intimacy part of the relationship yet anyway so it's not an issue."
Justice league: 'Well okay then... it's weird but tbh it's healthier than half if our relationships'
Danny chimes in, "And I have an alternate form to pretend I'm still fully alive." And turns into Fenton
Billy, de-powering in front of them to be 14. "To be fair, it's technically reincarnation. We're born, we age, Danny dies and gets stuck in between, we continue, I die, we reincarnate and do it all over again. Danny refuses to move on without me, if he can help it."
"You rarely ever die of natural causes either. It's always getting murdered or killing yourself. At least when you're murdered I can avenge you!"
"Oh, dude. Remember the incident with the bread?"
"Yeah. I'm still traumatized. And can't stand toast!"
"It's been three incarnations already!"
"How did you get defeated by a baguette?"
"The wizard used magic fire! That's how! And the baguette was hollowed out to hide a sword!"
"How did you get defeated by a baguette"
Has to be the best thing I've read recently
There's an up-and-coming Tech Giant, called Fenton Works, and Batman is determined to prove that the company is a front for a villain.
Danny, after his parents turned from Ghost hunting to being the first official Ghost Anthropologists, decided to repurpose some of their weapons.
And, well, there was a contest being run by Wayne Enterprises; whoever can design a robot that will help the environment got prize money and a grant.
Danny, in all his mechanical engineering prowess, was bored. So he designed a thing. Repurposed the Fenton Guns into a cute robotic tortoise that would clean the beach.
It spiraled from there, and now Fenton Works is the leading name in green technology that's cleaning up the Earth bit by bit. Sea Dragon robots that clean oil and trash from the ocean; beach tortoises that clean the sand and beach and deposit their hoard of trash into designated receptacles that Danny uses as material to make more robots; Cryptid "stalker" robots with long legs that delicately patrol forests to perform "fuel management" and clear out the underbrush to help manage wildfires; moving gargoyle robots that sit on top of skyscrapers to help clean the air with huge sail-like wings, etc.
Basically, Danny pulls a Doctor Elisabet Sobeck, but with less world ending and more actually helping. (Not that the world ending was Elisabet's fault, of course, but different franchise)
And due to the number of times aliens try to attack and rogues send their own robots to attack people, naturally Danny installed self-defense protocols, along with one single golden rule written into the very OS of every single robot; Save Humans Whatever the Cost.
Problem is, Batman has never seen robots like this not be used for evil purposes, and he knows that their power source (a closely guarded Fenton Works secret) is some sort of liquid that glows green.
He really only knows of one liquid that glows green.
So he's determined to find everything he can about Fenton Works, because there's no way that Daniel Fenton isn't actually a villain in the making.
Danny's just thrilled for the chance to work with Wayne Enterprises.
READ THE OTHER REBLOGS!
What if we combine this with the 'Danny was the First Hero AU' so by the time the Justice League is formed and massive alien invasions start becoming a thing, the Green Works Robots have been around for ten or fifteen years? People have grown up with these robots and many of them have been with specific families or communities for longer than some pets.
The teenager who doesn't remember a time when the big robot dog guarding the playground he used to play at wasn't around, coming across its shattered remains after the first Darkseid invasion and hearing about how it took down half a dozen Parademons before it was taken out, saving the lives of the families that had been at the playground at the time.
The empty nester woman who had taken to spending her days gardening with the teddy bear looking gardeners at the public park giving one of the little things a full funeral near the burnt remains of the bush where they first crossed paths.
Bruce Wayne, who was saved on one of his first nights out as Batman by one of the gargoyles meant to clean out air pollution taking a bullet for him coming across that same gargoyle standing guard in front of one of the banks that had been used as an impromptu emergency shelter, its casing warped and both a wing and an arm missing.
Aquaman, who had been friends with a robotic dolphin designed to help shipwreck and riptide victims get back to shore since he was just a lighthouse keeper's son falling to his knees on the beach when he finds it washed up on shore, half melted from the flames that spouted out of the portals that manifested on the water.
These robotic creations being seen as the things that heralded the Earth becoming more than it once was, saving people since before even Superman or Batman. People didn't just latch onto them in the past year, they were and are intrinsic parts of their lives and had been for years. The upcoming generation literally spent most of their lives living alongside these robots.
This, I think, makes it all the more brutal when they see the dragon-bots fall from the sky, the metal deer and bears and boars stampeding out of the forests, the mechanical mice and snakes bursting from the ground and sewers, all chanting in ear ringingly artificial voices 'Protect'.

DpxDc #19
Call of the void.
(shorter than my usual, but a funny thought. Also, little drawing at the end)
Something that Danny wanted to explore together with space, was the ocean.
The thing is: both were terrifying to him, but the thrill of the unknown, the immense voids that nature was capable of...
It was absolutely, existentially dreadful.
He loved it!
He wasn't really afraid of getting lost if he tried to take a stroll around, since he could quickly reach land, so why not try?
It wasn't really his fault that he let himself go!
Danny didn't even realize it was happening, but ectoplasm is a substance that tends to fill space. Between molecules, between atoms, it's everywhere, it's the ambient.
Long story short, he only found out that he had grown to the size of Godzilla when he was casually passing by Atlantis.
He hadn't even noticed the underwater city until he heard screaming coming from below...
Something about a leviathan?
This lends itself to an interesting idea: Danny as an Ancient of the Void, the Great Vastness, the Unknown. But I think my favorite is The Ancient of The Between.
He holds dominion over space and the oceans, because what are they but great and unknowable spans between two lands, two planets. But he also rules where streetlights meet the dark shadows the Bats love hiding in. The moment between the pull of the trigger and the firing of the bullet. He rules the center of bridges, long highways in the middle of nowhere, everything that is stuck between two things, where infinite changes can occur.
And because he is a Between thing himself, he can change too. He changes to fit what he needs. In space he can become akin to a living nebula, the deep oceans a gigantic creature. He can become a mirage, a trick of the light, a spark, and any number of other things. He is the Between.
Danny Phantom as the patron saint of heroes who've died and come back to life.
When a hero's died but not stayed dead, they speak of a being that greeted them with an eager grin - that took them by the blood-stained hand and dusted off their weary shoulders. A being with eyes that had seen too much, and had still kept fighting.
A brother in arms, welcoming a fellow hero to their final rest...
...and offering the option to return.
They speak of a being that promised to fix their broken body, to ensure they would return to it as though only sleeping. No risk of brain damage from lack of oxygen, their flesh unrotted, their blood unspilled, their bones unbroken. Regardless of how they died, they would return whole.
And these heroes say a few words of thanks to their patron saint every time they wake up when they expected not to - a bullet wound isn't fatal, a long fall has a soft landing, a bomb fails to detonate in their face.
"Thanks for the save, Danny."
It is time for you to rest, lay your head weary hero. Let the weight call from your shoulders, such worries are for the living to bear, you have fought long and hard, you have fought well for those you love those you knew and for those you'll never know. You have kept many from my grasp and for that I am grateful. Your struggle is over please be at peace now.
How can I be at peace! It can't be my time yet they are still there fighting for those who can't! I have a job to do a duty to those I left behind please let me fight for them.
That is what makes you a hero, finally freed from your burden your struggle. Given an opportunity at peace onky to slap away to hand that gives you the offer. And to that I offer my other hand. Take it and struggle once more suffer for those who are not stong enough to bare the weight upon your soul.
I'll take that offer I can't leave them behind not yet, bkt while there are more left that need me.
Ha! You all say the same thing the words change but the fire in your words remain the same. Take my hand so you may fight once more! To save once more! And to struggle for the living!
Thanks, one day I will take you up on that offer but as you said, I have a weight upon my shoulders, but it is one I proudly bare I can't have those above carry it just yet...
*gasps Thanks for the save Danny, now where were we.
I'll call my dad
The justice league was in disaray. They had failed to stop the summoning, and already the demon was stepping out of the portal. The last standing heros didn't have the manpower to stop a whole thrall army and the magic users certainly hadn't the power to deal with the demon himself. They needed a plan, or a miracle, or the earth was doomed.
Suddenly, Constantine braced himself, and strode right to the beast.
"Don't step further, or I'll have to call my dad."
The heros were baffled. The demon too.
"Your... dad ?"
"That's right," he was sweating bullets but he continued "I'm John Constantine and Phantom is my dad. He cares a lot about Earth. He will not take kindly your little invading stunt."
"Who is Phantom ?" wispered Flash to Zatana.
"I don't know."
The league didn't know if he was bluffing or not. Zatana had recently heard rumors about Constantine's father, but it was all vague, shrouded in secrecy.
The surprised past, the demon laught.
"Alright," he mocked, "Let see what your 'dad' think of that."
Constantine took a deep breath and reluctantly put out a piece of paper form his inner pocket. As he put it in fire with a spell, the cave they were in was breifly plunged in freezing cold and supernatural darkness. A thunderous ice crack resoned, that they could feel in their chest as much as they heard. The shadows sleethed into the form of a titanesque being, and suddenly big, bright, lazarus green eyes opened. And they didn't look happy.
"John."
He gulped.
"Hi dad."
"It's a school night."
"I know," the magician cringed, "I swear I have a good reason."
Now the being looked downright pissed.
"Damn, I would hope so ! Do you have any idea what time it is ?"
"He wants to destroy the Earth !" defended Constantine almost petulantly, waving at the confused demon.
The green eyes looked at the demonic being, then the leaguers in various states of injuries, then the demon again. The demon didn't seem like he wanted to be here anymore. He was proved right when he received a monstruous fist in the face.
The entity grabbed him by an ankle, threw him back to hell, then slammed the portal shut as if it was a door. Constantine visibly relaxed.
"Thanks a lot."
"Don't mention it," grumbled the being. "Anything else you need ?"
"No. And I'm really sorry, I know it's late."
"Just don't make it an habit. See you on sunday."
And just like that, he was gone. Wally had to sit down.
"What the fuck."

Hi everyone ! I was reminded of that post a while ago where Danny inherited of Connie's soul and decided it counts as adoption (can't find it now) and this is what came to my brain.
Tony Stark is this year's New York City Pride Parade Grand Marshal!
"Hey, guess what?" Tony asks, walking off the elevator.
Peter hops up onto his knees, leaning over the back of the couch to see Tony. "What?"
"Your husband has been invited to be the Grand Marshal at the Pride parade this year."
"Oh, my God! Really?" Peter jumps over the back of the couch and races over to his husband, flinging his arms around his neck. "How exciting!"
for the @starkerfestivals pride puzzles event, 1 Down - parade (card under the cut)
Black Canary is in a tight spot. She prays to any high power that might be listening to help, and she actually gets it.
There's a huge alien spacecraft about to land, it's a total invasion attempt, if that mothership lands then it's gameover, and it's all hands on deck.
Specifically, the Mothership is an unholy amalgamation of magic and alien tech, and if it lands, it'll start pumping pollutants that will change the ecosystem on Earth and make it unable to support Humans.
It'll terraform into something for the aliens at an extremely accelerated rate.
Everyone is preoccupied.
The Mothership is getting closer.
Dinah prays to someone, anyone, to help her keep that thing off the ground.
She opens her mouth...
...And lets out the strongest, most powerful scream she's ever let out.
The Mothership isn't just thrown back, it's torn to pieces. Those pieces are then shoved well past the stratosphere.
Anything that was in the air around the mothership is decimated.
The buildings below it are starting to crumble.
Black Canary stands on the street, voice gone from the strain, and stares blankly at the destruction.
Who, exactly, had she called on?
Or: Undirected prayers go to the Infinite Realms, for anyone to look at. Prayers allow the Prayee to borrow something from the Being that accepts the Prayer. Danny accepts Black Canary's, and lets her borrow his Wail. Except he wasn't expecting the difference between his home dimension and hers to be so great, because while it's considered an overpowered ability even in his own dimension, in her's it could accurately be classified as Godly.
Constantine is looking at her weirdly. Its has been a month or so since the incident and everyone has already asked their questions and suspicions and shock about the sheer power of her scream. Some thought she just unlocked a hidden aspect of her power, others thought she did... something to make it that strong. But after that incident, Constatine kept a wary look at her at all times. Enough that others are noticing.
Its only until one day he dropped off a book in front of her titled "Having Patron Gods: Do's, Don'ts, and Definitely Nots" and left without a word a bit too quickly.
Dinah's never been particularly... religious. She hardly ever prays, but even less expects to be answered. But the last time, she was, and now...
Dinah knelt at the small altar she had made. It was simple, and honestly more of a completed checklist of things from the book Constantine had given her.
A metal bowl of offered food. Dinah went with grapes as it seemed the safest option, given she didn't know who or what she was praying too. Sticks of incense, an unoffensive orange blossom scent. A cup of rose water, as a fancy but low key offering. She wasn't still entirely sure about doing this, but, well... They'd answered her before, and she didn't know if they'd answer again. Better to establish some form of rapport now.
John's book had been very clear that there was no fury like a god scorned, and Dinah would rather not to have to fight off another invasion.
Dinah carefully lit the incense and clasped her hands in what she hoped was an appropriately prayerful position.
"Hello," Dinah said quietly. "I am Black Canary, and two weeks ago you answered my prayer to help protect people. I don't know if it was a one off thing, or you want me to be a follower of yours, or what you want at all.
I'm not going to demand anything. I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for answering my prayers. Thank you for lending me the power to protect people. Thank you for helping me save my loved ones. Whoever you are... thank you,"
Dinah kept her head lowered for a few moments more, breathing in the orange blossom incense and out her worries and fears. It felt a little like meditation.
When Dinah lifted her head, her eyes immediately zoned in on the empty bowl and cup. The cup was empty, but in place of the grapes there was a scrap of blindingly neon green paper.
Dinah picked it up carefully, and not for the first time hoped that John hadn't steered her wrong.
I'm glad I could help, it read. I'm called Phantom, and if you need help protecting people again, I will be there if you call. Acceptable offerings include chips, soda, and NASA souvenirs if it's a really big thing.
Well. Dinah blinked at the paper. That could have gone worse.
Oooooh now im just imagining different people who either has beef with Phantom or just worships him suddenly comes pouring into Dinah's life and she remembers the self help book and is like 'Damn, thats gonna have to be my problem, huh?' And cues her journey as a some sort of wizard priest on the side.
Once he catches wind of le bullshit, Phantom puts his foot down. Both of them live in fairly modern times, so it wouldn’t be a “fuck the prime directive” level problem if he just gave her his direct line, right? Right. Lucky them, Fenton engineering works across dimensions just fine! Dinah is under strict instructions to call immediately if one of the little shits pops up so Phantom can com get them personally.
What’s that? It would’ve been awesome to have this last time someone got lost or was desperately needed on another plane of existence?
…
Okay. Okay so this is gonna require, like, a model rocket, three cheeseburgers, the biggest bottle of coffee concentrate you can find, and at least one set of your coms. Maybe a PDA and some scarabs—he might need to consult with his friend—but he’ll let you know in 2 weeks.
(Dinah is mildly concerned. She now has a god on speed dial, and said god had just spat out 60 coms that actually do work across interdimensional travel. When she sent up the watchtower in a bottle kit as an additional thanks, she was just trying to be nice. She didn’t expect to hear something rip, followed by a teenager barreling into her at full speed.)
(Oh.)
(Oh no.)
(Dinah didn’t have a patron god, she had a patron *godling*.)
Constantine: Don't let the cute 14 year old disguise fool you, it's a timeless being from before Atlantis sank, before the plagues of Egypt, back when Nabu was just a twinkle in Vandal's eye

DPXDC PROMPT
Danny and Danielle are sitting on opposite ends of a room full of people, with the only exit being the middle of a 10-foot high ceiling.
The Gotham rogue who captured them is getting increasingly irritated that their trap to move the walls closer isn't working while the Bats are getting closer.
Danny didn't like this. The walls weren't really pushing to strongly, it had been easy to stop them, but it has been hours. It was starting to get difficult.
The people in the room were collected in small groups. Probably staying with the people they knew, or those who they had felt kinship to during the kidnapping. Weather it was for sharing some characteristic like close age, or similar clothing style.
A guy that was probably a year or two older than him was beside him. Danny guest it was the closeness in age that pushed the boy to talk to him. They had talked in hush voices for sometime, and Danny found he was named Tim.
He was apparently a celebrity of some sort, from what Danny could hear from the other groups whispers. But he wasn't arrogant, nor was he bragging about it, so Danny payed it no mind.
As time passed and stopping the walls from closing had started to become difficult, Danny had stopped actively talking. Tim had frowned asking if he was okay, but Danny just shrugged saying he was tired. Which he was. Why wouldn't the rogue stop the mechanism after seeing it wasn't working? Wouldn't it still be consuming energy or something?
-It seems the rescue is taking some time, huh? - Tim said looking up to the exit.
Danny limited himself to agreeing with a hum. Panic had long abandoned the room, replaced by a lingering anxiety, murmurs and whispers filling the air. They were lucky no small children were taken, or they would be dealing with crying.
Danny looked forward catching Ellie's eyes. He tilted he's head in a question, which she answered moving her hand in a so so. Then she signal in his way with her head returning the question, and he just shrugged. He was tired, but he could hold it for long still.
He worried about how long Ellie would be able to do the same. She didn't have the same resistance as him, and still tended to destabilize when she overdo's it. Danny has a couple of ecto-shots in him, but he would prefer if it didn't came to that.
Maybe it was not wanting to be in the way of their gazes, but no one has sited or standed between him and Ellie. He was grateful for that, they had been able to check on each other the whole time. Tim sent him inquisitive look everytime he did, but didn't ask.
It was obvious he and Ellie were related. Anyone would guess they were siblings with how similar they were. So it was probably weird that they had decided to sit on opposites sides of the room in that situation. Luckily, Gothamites are really good minding they're own business.
Danny could see that a boy was also sited besides Ellie, but their conversation had also died when Ellie started running low on stamina. How much more will the bats take to getting there?
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Tim had gotten himself kidnapped in his civilian identity with Damian. Which was always a pain, because they couldn't just fight their weight out of it. Worse of all, it wasn't even a direct attack on them, it was a group kidnapping. Tim was pretty sure the rogue didn't even noticed he had gotten a couple of Wayne's on the group.
He had catalogued that there were 54 other people with them in the room they've been shoved into. They were all in a room without any restraints on them. The room was more like a big whole in the ground, only exit was upside. He has tried to call someone, but phones aren't getting any signal.
Damian and him had activated their panic button, they can only hope those are working well. But with how long it had been, Tim had the suspicion that isn't the case.
A simple room with a large group of hostages, and no restraints, should be one of the best situation for a kidnapping, except, the only thing keeping them alive at the moment were two meta kids.
The walls had started to close at a fast pace close to the first hour mark, and then they stopped abruptly. Or that's how it would seem if one wasn't paying attention. What actually happen was that two kids had stopped the walls from continuing to close. When chaos started to unravel once more within the hostages, the kids ran to opposite walls, and as soon as they touched them the walls stopped moving.
They're meta abilities must be giving them an incredible strength to be able to stop the walls so casually. Tim and Damian had decided to separate to keep an eye on them, maybe give them a hand if they were able. He had found it was easier to go through civilian kidnappings if he concentrated on what he could do. Even if it was just looking out for their meta saviours.
They were similar, to the point Tim would think they were twins if the girl wasn't clearly younger. He had sat besides the boy while Damian was with the girl. The meta siblings checked with each other every so often, not outwardly screaming but it wasn't exactly stubble. He did the same with Damian, but with the signs they used on patrol and complementing with sign language for any specifics.
The boy name was Danny, and Damian had signed Danielle for the girl. There was a small fuss after Damian sign her name, the Danielle telling him something with irritation in her face. Probably didn't like being full named by Damian. Damian seemed amused by his antics, and Tim almost laughed at him when he finally sign that she preferred to be called Ellie. Apparently got him to call her by her preferred name, which was a huge achievement with the demon brat.
Talking with Danny had made time go easier. He was quite intelligent, loved space, and never passed an opportunity to make a pun. Tim made a mental note to never let Dick meet him. It was fun talking to him, and Tim found his small quirks of his he talked quite cute.
He had almost forgotten that Danny was holding the weight of the wall, until Danny slowly started to shut down, only giving small answers and humming for him to continue talking. It must be starting to take a tall on him, and taking a look at his sister he guessed she was having a hard time too.
Tim really hoped the others were here soon, he didn't know how much longer their friends would be able to hold the walls.
Her ears were ringing. There was someone beside her, but she couldn’t… remember his…
She blinked back tears, trying to keep her breathing steady. The boy next to her shook her shoulder. There was pressure on her back…
The… wall…
She tried to focus her eyes… when had they blurred?
Her hands… fingers… green… no…
She looked at the opposite side of the enclosure, to…
She couldn’t…
Danny spotted her…
Keep…
His eyes went… wide?
Going…
The room was spinning…
Dark shapes dropped in front of her. Black, purple… yellow?
Someone was… talking…? To… her…?
—
“Sweetie, are you okay?”
“She’s been holding the wall since they started moving,” Damian told Spoiler. “Her brother is holding the other one. She stopped responding a few hours ago.”
“Crap,” Spoiler muttered. “Keep her awake. We’ll get everyone out as quick as possible.”
Damian nodded, glancing over at Ellie v(“Ellie,” she had corrected him, many hours before, when he had initially called her Danielle, before she had fallen silent.) She didn't look too good. Her skin had taken a pale and ashy sheen, sweating was dripping down her face.
The worst part was the fact that she appeared to be melting. He'd spotted her fingers the last time she'd communicated with her brother Danny (likely short for Daniel, but he didn't have confirmation on that), and they'd started to melt lazarus pit green.
Her arms were shaking, her eyes were glazed over.
Damian looked over at Tim.
'how is DANNY' Damian asked.
'better than ELLIE' Tim responded.
That was... good. Not great, but acceptable for now.
But Father, Black Bat, Signal, and Spoiler would need to work fast.
—
The bats had shown up. Finally.
Ellie wasn't going so great. She'd only barely managed to communicate, and she was about to give. She'd need an ecto-shot as soon as they were both out.
Civilians were being evacuated on Ellie's side first. How exactly they had figured out that the two of them were holding back the walls, Danny would put up to them being detectives. The yellow suited one... Signal? Had asked how he was doing. Danny figured he could hold out for another hour, maybe.
He could feel the weight of the wall. He didn't even want to know how many joules it was taking to hold it back at this point.
About half the civilians had been evacuated by this point, most of them from Ellie's side, though they had started to be pulled from his side as well.
"Danny, hold on," the boy sitting next to him, Tim, said.
"...'m... tryin'..." Danny muttered.
That was when the other wall began to move. His eyes went wide.
"Ellie!" he shouted.
No, no...
—
Her eyes fluttered. She was... moving?
The wall!
Her eyes shot open, and she braced, but the wall wouldn't...
stop...
There was a pressure on her shoulder.
Why was everything spinning?
People... not...
"Ellie, c'mon." A soft voice. Who...?
The... boy. Next to her.
"You did good, sweetie." A different voice. Female.
What was...?
She squeezed her eyes shut, then tried to focus on her surroundings.
There were... less people in here.
Firm hands picked her up, and she was moving.
—
Tim watched as Damian carried Ellie to the center of the room, and Black Bat helped them out. The other wall was moving in, with her no longer keeping it in place.
But the poor girl looked horrible. Tim doubted she was even aware the other bats had arrived, she looked so out of it.
There were just over a dozen civilians left.
Danny was clearly struggling at this point. It had been hours since they'd been locked up down here, and holding the wall in place was clearly draining. Danny didn't look as bad as Ellie did though, so that was good.
Danny's eyes were shut in concentration. He was sweating by this point. When he had started holding back the walls, it looked so casual, but not at this point.
Tim could only provide support, and hope that Danny wouldn't give out.
—
Danny focused on taking slow, even breaths.
Ellie had gotten out safe. The boy who had sat beside her the whole time had carried her.
She didn't look great, but if he could get her an ecto-shot within the next half hour, she would be alright. At the rate the bats were getting people out, she would be fine.
Only a few more left.
—
"Danny." Tim shook Danny's shoulder. Danny opened his eyes and blinked a few times. "C'mon, let's go."
Danny looked around, and nodded.
Tim got to his feet, and held out his hand.
The other wall had finished moving, which didn't leave as much space, but they would be fine, considering the speed the walls moved at.
Danny took his hand, and got to his feet. As soon as he wasn't touching the wall anymore, it began to move.
Danny tried to walk forward, and stumbled.
"Danny, are you okay?" Tim asked.
"I-I..." Danny squeezed his eyes shut.
Crap... Tim quickly relayed his options, then scooped Danny up. Danny blinked in surprise, glancing at him.
"Just..." Tim didn't know what to say.
He carried Danny over to where Black Bat was waiting. She let out some giggles.
"What?" Tim asked.
If he could see her face, she would be grinning. She pointed at Danny.
"It's... nothing," Tim said, face heating up.
Black Bat shook her head, but held out her hand.
Within a few seconds, they had been grappled out.
Safe, finally.
—
Tim had picked him up like he weighed nothing.
Danny knew he was light, sure. But still... Tim didn't know that!
But they were out.
Danny hadn't even realized how weak he felt until he'd tried to walk, and his vision had immediately doubled and blurred.
But they were out.
Danny looked around, and spotted Ellie. She was being propped up by the boy she'd been with.
"Ellie!" he shouted.
Tim let him down, and his legs nearly gave out as he rushed over to her.
"She's not doing very well," the boy said, far to formal for someone who appeared to be, like, 15 or 16. Possibly just a little younger than Ellie. "She needs to go to a hospital."
"No, that... no," Danny muttered, and he reached into his pocket, hiding his hand slipping into his thigh to grab an ecto-shot.
He pulled Ellie over.
Oh, she really wasn't doing good.
She'd fully passed out by this point. Her fingers were dripping ectoplasm, and her skin was pale.
The ecto-shots, developed from the original ecto-dejecto, had been formed to look almost like an epi-pen. Danny stabbed her outer thigh.
The drippiness of her fingers vanished, and her color began to come back. Ellie's eyes fluttered open, and she looked up at him. She still looked tired, and she'd definitely need rest.
But she'd be okay.
"Dan...ny?" she muttered.
He pulled her close into a hug.
"Thank goodness..." he muttered.
Spoiler watched them thoughtfully, they had done a damn good job and likely needed help. But the reaction to a lift to the hospital? Was outright rejection. Not necessarily fearful, but rejection nevertheless.
Spoiler: Sooo... Why no hospitals? Like, wonder drug in an epipen aside? You could do with some help too. You look exhausted!
Danny: Drs can't do anything for us. Our biology is too different from standard. If we need stitches we need to do it at home for crying out loud! Ellie's medication is made by me and our parents at home. Honestly I should probably be fine after food and water. But like, five days worth of food at once. Ellie? Needs that, and maybe another shot tomorrow morning, if she still feels off.
Spoiler:... Fair enough. You do have medical care available somewhere right?
Danny: Our parents are both Drs of biology and engineering. And our usual GP knows everything they need to. Between the two? We've figured out what works. But I don't want to go through it all for Drs who won't listen ya know?
Tim: Well, you guys can feel free to come to the manor? Bruce can afford to feed you both. You DID manage to save two of his kids after all! He'll want to say thanks. Alfie makes the best food.
Damian: That is true. Father is also friends with many people with various metabolic requirements. Alfred is used to cooking for those with larger nutritional needs. Ellie requires rest as well. The manor is secluded and safe.
Spoiler leaned over to murmer something Danny couldn't quite make out to Black Bat. He hummed softly as he thought it over. Ellie nodded at him, which decided it then.
Danny: If you're sure. We're here to visit our sister. But I don't fancy staying in the hotel after we got snatched from there yesterday... Aw shit. Jazz is probably going spare...
Ellie: Call her now?
Danny: Urgh, but then she'll fuss. Do you want her fussing at you? Really?
Tim and Damian watched in amusement as her face scrunched up in disgust. That was a definite no then.
Damian: Blame the police. Clearly they had to hold you back for questioning?
Ellir: Yes!
They decide to take a cab to the manor, Damian in the front and Tim, Danny and Ellie in the back. Tim to keep Danny stable while in the vehicle and Danny to keep Ellie stable while she laid down on his lap
The pair had both fallen into a comfortable slumber almost instantly.
Tim had noticed that Danny was strangely light, oddly, he weighed less than a 10 year old, same with Ellie, weighing about the same as a 6 year old. Their parents are scientists, 'I wonder if their conditions give them food intolerance, guess they'll just have their share at the manor'.
When they got to the manor Tim gently shook Danny awake, he then in turn shook Ellie awake. Ellie was slow to leave, still feeling groggy and dizzy, Danny tried to put her arm over him for support, but ended up stumbling and having to be caught last second by Tim. They had ended up walking the rest of the way in a human wall until going to holding hands for the stairs.
Alfred ushered them in and directed them to the living room
Alfred: I'd heard from master Damian that you would be bringing guests. Feel free to ask for anything you'd like, we know you had quite the run in with those kidnappers. Tea, water, blankets, ice and heating pads are already prepared and on the side tables next to the fire place, say the word and I shall bring them to you.
Danny: Thank you, the blanket and ice would be nice. Ellie could probably also use the water.
Ellie blearily nodded
And with that Alfred brought them over
Alfred: any allergies or food preferences?
Ellie shook her head
Danny: we'd be fine with anything
Alfred left soon after to make dinner
As soon as Ellie blinked away her tiredness she went for the water and drank the entire 1 letre bottle and then went for the next one.
Danny took this as his cue and tore open the ice bag popping ice cubes in his mouth like they were chips.
Alfred had been warned to prepare speedster levels of food. So, he did as any doting elder would for the saviour of his grandchildren. He was cooking up a storm. Miss Steph and Miss Cass were both helping by carrying whatever he needed. As well as taking a steady stream of food to the poor teens. He was making nutrient and calorie dense foods, the same as he would for the other metas he knew. Masters Tim and Damian had not eaten in over a day. So they both required lighter meals, to ensure a lack of issues. He had much to prepare, it was a good challenge. Alfred knew Master Bruce would also require food once he returned. Knowing how close the children had come to death, or severe injury? Well, Alfred was incredibly grateful to their young guests. His cooking would have to do for now. Master Bruce would find another way to repay them.
Danny and Ellie were in heaven. The food? Was so good. Best they'd ever eaten. There was so many different dishes? So many wonderful things to try.
Danny:... Do you think your Gramps would be willing to teach us to do this?
Ellie: Right? Mom and Dad might make good with 'love'. But they are no where near as good at cooking.
Tim just grinned at them. Everyone loves Alfie's food. He was a great chef, and he was lucky to know him. Damian was also smirking to one side. Apparently feeling the same way.
Tim: I mean? You did save our lives? So he'd at least try. If you stick around long enough. Don't you have to go home soonish though?
Ellir: Nah. Mom and Dad are on a research trip. So they asked Jazz to have us for the summer.
Danny: Yup! We have six weeks in Gotham! I really should tell Jazz where we are.... I don't want her fussing though....
Damian: Tch. Hand me the phone. I can assure her you are being looked after well.
Tim almost choked on his drink. Damian? Offering to take a call for someone? Holy shit! He really approved of them! Not for no reason of course. They were both really impressive frankly. They risked so much to keep everyone there safe. Heck, Ellie really suffered. And here they are, already working up and having fun.
Tim: So, what are your parents researching?
Danny: So, you know how I said we have weird biology? They are on a trip to see if they can find a chemist to work with. So we can have more options for like medication and stuff. Since nothing really effects us. We burn through chemicals too fast for it to work.
Ellie: Useful against poison at least! And any other harmful chemicals. We could probably walk into a cloud of fear gas without masks and be fine! Not that we want to test that.
Damian: Is your older sister also the same?
Danny: To a lesser degree. There was a lab accident. Me and Ellie were effected loads by the event. Jazz wasn't home at the time. So she only got effected by the residue. Same with our parents. They are like, mildly enhanced? But nothing too far.
Ellie: Medication still works for them. But they aren't anywhere near as resistant to poison.
Tim was making a note of everything they said to look into later. Because he was intrigued. How could he not be? He wanted to know everything. They were fascinating! And fun too. He wanted to know everything. Watching the way the food was clearly starting to perk them up was impressive. They didn't quite seem to have speedster or Kryptonian metabolisms. But they didn't seem far off. The food was clearly doing its job. Also, watching the way they were trying everything with such open delight? Adorable. Danny kept silently putting things in front of Ellie he knew she would like. It was cute, the way he silently doted on her. Ellie was just as funny to watch. She clearly wanted to keep the tasty things to herself. Would get a little frown, and then share it anyway. Damian was watching like a hawk. He knew they would both have a list of favourites and preferences for Alfie later.
The walls weren't really pushing too strongly, it had been easy to stop them, but it has been hours.
He was apparently a celebrity of some sort, or at least that's what it seemed from what Danny could hear from the other groups whispers.
He tilted he's head in a question, which she answered moving her hand in a so so motion.
So it was probably weird that they had decided to sit on opposites sides of the room in the situation they were in. Luckily, Gothamites are really good at minding their own business.
Danny could see that a boy was also sited besides Ellie, but their conversation had also died when Ellie started running low on stamina.
Truth be told, it would be easy for him and Ellie to make it out, evacuating the rest of the people may be burdensome though still possible, but not without revelling themselves.
Maybe it was selfish, if one of them hold their wall while the other evacuated, they probably would have already gotten everyone out. Danny could even have used duplication to hold both walls and make it even less chaotic. But he refused to risk their identities, not with the anti-ecto acts allowing people to hunt them. Either way, if things continued this way, they might become too exhausted to get anyone but themselves out in the end.
How much more will the the local vigilantes take to getting there?
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
