Jason spent the last week trying and failing to spy on the Fenton girl. One moment, she was casually walking down the street. The next, she was just gone. It was almost like she was a ghost appearing in the corner of his eye just to disappear again.

The only times she couldn't disappear was when she was in class. And nobody better blame Jason for not wanting to be out during the middle of the day on top of campus building staring at someone sitting for hours.

Danny waltzed into the restaurant and plopped himself in the seat across from Jaz.

Jaz's face was already pinched with concern.

“wah?” Danny grumbled his mouth stuffed with one of the three buggers that had been waiting for him on the table.

“You're hurt.” There was no room for denial.

“Im fine, Jaz. I heal fast, remember?”

“Don't roll your eyes at me. We both know that's not very true at the moment.”

Jaz was a steel pillar, impossible to sway or bend. It was an aspect of her that made her such a good person to lean on, but at this moment Danny kinda hated it.

“I stepped on some glass, ok?” He raised voice slightly. “Not a big deal!”

“Danny”

He looked away and took a huge bite of a burger.

Jaz sighed, "I'm being watched.”

Danny choked and glanced around.

“Not right now!”

“Do you know who?” Danny asked.

“Redhood?”

“Redhood?!” His eyes were wide.

“I've only seen glimpses but I'm 85% it's him.” Jaz shrugged as if it wasn't a big deal. “Anyways how have you been? How's the online school?”

Danny hummed, “ My grades are better now that I don't have much else to do.” He paused. “I miss Sam and Tucker.” He sounded so small at that moment.

Jaz slid onto his bench and gave him a somewhat awkward side hug. Danny leaned into it. Once he pulled away, he cleared his throat. “Anyways I'm sort of being followed too.” Jaz looked alarmed so Danny quickly continued, “ by one of the Wayne kids. I think he’s trying to be my friend or something.”

Jaz hummed “Having a friend wouldn’t be so bad.”

“ I don't know, Jaz, something's off about him.”

A shiver went up Danny's spine to his neck. It wasn't his ghost sense but it felt similar. He looked at Jaz who seemed to have felt the same thing.

“Guess I better be heading back.” Danny said standing up.

Jaz stood up and pulled him into another hug. She placed a kiss on his forehead when she let go, and Danny pretended to be grossed out.

She smiled fondly, “stay safe.”

“Who’d you think I am?” Danny reached into his pocket a pulled out a small stack of cash.”And here for the food”

“You don't have to pay- that's a lot of cash.”

Danny shrugged, “Mom and Dad are like rich rich now, and Vlad is trying to bribe me into liking him. You actually need this, I probably just buy video games with it.”

She sighed but took the money, “ ok be safe, Im being serious.”

Why not just put brownies in your story then? Almost identical effect without all the slavery.

If you wanna make the Malfoys look worse just idk maybe they put a spell on Dobby to bind him to their house and he can’t leave unless the malfoys break the rules and they’re bad to him but don’t technically try to break the rules until Harry tricks them into paying dobby with some clothes.

There. Problem solved. You can have hundreds of brownies living at hogwarts even. And when Hermione misinterprets their situation and tries to thank them and start paying them the brownies start getting offended and leaving and this causes an actual problem for the school. Much easier to make a subplot about not listening to the people that you’re trying to help.

Another another friendly reminder that the Minnesota Starvation Experiment subjected adult men who were VOLUNTEERS to 1,560 calorie diets and the psychological effects were so profound that one volunteer cut three of his own fingers off and could not remember why.

These men were volunteers who knew exactly what they would be going through and when it would end, and who believed they were doing it for a good and moral reason (the research was used to help rehabilitate victims of starvation and famine at the end of WWII).

And these are the things we are expected to engage in FOREVER to stay at a “healthy” weight.

Reading about the Minnesota Starvation experiment was my wake-up call.  It was what kicked me out of my eating disorder.  The guy missing three fingers, whatever his name was, he was the last straw for me.
