Jason: It's alright Bruce. You both made it out fine. He wasn't hurt at all.

Damian: Father calm down. Drake is-
Bruce: You don't understand! You all let Tim out of your sight! On the most dangerous night of the year!
Dick: What?
Bruce: If I was out for two days then tonight the stars align. Tim is going to summon the Ghost King!
Jason: Why would he summon one of the most dangerous and evil being in the multiverse B?
Bruce: Because he's crazy! The only thing keeping Tim's mental state together was his obsession with Batman! But his obsession with the Ghost King is much greater! We have to find him!
Dick: B, please calm down. You were out for two days. Let us worry about Tim.
Damian: I found Drake. He's in the backyard.
Dick: See? Everything is fine. Tim isnt summoning anything.
Damian: Richard, stop spreading falsehoods. Look at the surveillance.

The other day I was writing an argumentative analysis on the definition of " an Icarus Tale"
I argued that infact an Icarus tale is a story about how a young person can make one mistake ignorantly and another party may punish it the same as they would if the person did it maliciously.
I cited evidence from the original text by Ovid where it says that Icarus was blinded by his ectasy and excitement from freedom.
Never in that text does it say he challenged the gods will or acted on hubris
I was about 3/4ths through the essay that "A death in the family" is an Icarus tale.
I COULDN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT IT!!!
A large part of the community (COUGH COUGH, JIM STARLIN STANS) blames a 15-year-old Jason for going into that warehouse in the first place. They blame him for his Excitement at finding his mother. They act as if a bitterness to Bruce was what drove him to do such things. It wasn't! Maybe it wasn't the smartest decision to go into that warehouse unguarded, but he was ecstatic!! He thought he found a member of his family who truly loved and missed him!!
He flew too close to the sun, but not on purpose.
And oh, Daedalus. The father of the boy who flew too close to the sun.
The father who stayed in his lane, took no risks, and in the end was arguably punished more than that of his child. Who forever lives with the guilt of not preparing his son. Not making it in time.
King Phantom going through some of the backed up paperwork and finds Janet's contract. Her first born belongs to Phantom now since Pariah never did any paperwork. Those that he did claim had already been rescued where they could and made comfortable when there was little to be done.
He's outlawed new deals since a lot of the time the validly of the sacrifice can be questioned. The observant s are annoyed at babysitters duty but it gets them out of annoying Danny and lets him be productive so he plans on milking it for as long as there are deals under review. Just like with the one Pariah claimed, a lot of them are undergoing investigations and that's where Janet's deal comes in.
Tim like many other firstborns are watched over. Anytime they are in danger, the observant responsible invokes Danny or his claim to protect them from the shadows. On occasion, they might have been relocated but never has Danny collected on any of those deals until Tim.
Tim unlike the other firstborns is a hero. Tim is also aware something is watching him as he will make comments for Danny or thank him for a save nobody else noticed and Danny is instantly smitten. Danny watches as Tim does so much good for Gotham both as a civilian and as a hero. Even when he is taken for granted, it doesn't slow Tim down and Danny admires him more.
Danny knows Tim has massive potential, and he trusts him to understand the gravity of how far his influence runs. He had no doubt in Tim when he was trying to clone his lost friends. Danny understood was part of his grieving process and everyone grieves differently. Did he also swoon a bit? Nobody witnessed it so it didn't happen (but his friend do tease him about it since they were aware of his crush)
It becomes the last straw for Danny when Nightwing acting as Batman turns everyone against Tim. He reminds himself everyone copes differently for all of one minute before saying man fuck that guy and sends a sticky note to Tim. On that sticky note he offers his help and protection, but it can't be revoked once accepted.
It's the first time he has 'shown' himself outside of the assists he's made, and it feels like agony as he watches Tim. Eventually Tim does take up his offer and while Danny fell first Tim fell harder. Bruce is the second person Danny saves that day and the moment Tim realizes it he is extra cuddly with Danny.
The alternate rescue is Danny being dramatic about collecting Red Robin in front of Dick and the Justice league. Tim meanwhile is like good luck keeping me here, but when he takes in his first view of the Infinite Realms he has sooo many questions so he could stay for a bit for science.
"WE ARE LIVE IN GOTHAM CITY; MR. FREEZE HAS JUST MADE AN ATTACK AND LOOK AT THE DAMAGE HE HAS CAUSED" the reporter yelled into the mic; they all did this for more money, even though it was a death wish.
the camera panned around to the frozen areas of where the attack occurred- wait was that someone ICESKAITING???
"THERE- THERE IS SOMEONE ICESKATING ON MR. FREEZE'S ICE-" the camera caught the civilian being blasted with ice, "OH- A PERSON WAS ICE SKATING-" AND THE PERSON CAME BACK OUT UNSCATHED ON THE OTHER SIDE.

Bruce knows it. The rest of the batfam knows it. Hell, even Jason is aware but doesn't want to admit it.
When it comes to romance, he has a type. Each one either has tried to kill him or isn't completely human.
So, when it came out that Jason gained a new boyfriend, bets and theories among the family began ranging from how long it would last and if this one was a meta to if the boyfriend was Kryptonian, a clone, or someone from the LOA. Other than the seemingly lack of information and the whole adoption bait look, Jason's boyfriend was a regular civilian. A college student from somewhere in Illinois that's double majoring in astronomy and engineering at Gotham University.
Was he running from something based on how jumpy he is and how too clean his record was? Most likely but other than that he cared for Jason as much as they could tell from snooping.
After months of ignoring and avoiding the snooping and pleading from the batfam, Jason just wanted to end the theories and bets once and for all, so he invited Danny to family dinner at the manor. Everything was going fine.
Until Danny's eyes flashed a toxic green as a stray knife from Damian went through his shoulder and he simply moved over in his seat, the knife embedded into the chair.
What if Jason told Danny that they were going to do stupid tests? What if Danny got tired of their bullshit. Especially as it put Jason in danger? He knows that Jason is like him and will recover quickly, but Danny's a protective spirit. And he's so fucking done. So, like usual, he goes for the bit that will traumatize everyone.
He lets the knife pierce his shoulder. He looks wide eyed and confused, until his eyes land on the blade and blow out.
"Oh. Uh-ummmm..... heh.... what the fuck is wrong with all of you?" And passes out.
Danny has gotten really good at controlling the speed of his pulse and breathing too. Technically he doesn't need to do either. He just does it to maintain the appearance of humanity.
Danny looks down at the knife in his shoulder with wide eyes turning to look at the batfam with wide scared eyes "What's wrong with all of you?" Dramatically falls over ontop of the knife making rhe injury intentionally worse and starts to slow his breathing and heartrate. As well as letting his ghostly nature slowly turn him paler and make his skin grow colder. If he really wants to go far he can make his breath give off a death rattle. It works similarly to how he accesses his wail only when he's in human form and more closed off. Just really full blown scare the absolute shit out of them.
fed up with Bruce tracking them/invading their privacy in the name of safety, i like to think the batkids pull an uno reverse and microchip Bruce while he’s passed out after a bad patrol injury. they start tracking his phone activity and texting him about wherever he is. bringing up things they know he’s searched for one his phone/people he’s been talking to, showing up at wherever he is during the day and interrupting him just to prove they always know where he is; just overall trying to annoy him the best they can.
issue is, Bruce is just so happy to see and talk to his kids at any point that he doesn’t even notice the breach of privacy, and the kids just end up feeling really awkward about how happy their dad is to see them.
Jason will bring up something in conversation with Bruce that was only privately relayed through texts between Bruce and a colleague, smirking because he knows Bruce is gonna be really paranoid about who’s watching his texts, except Bruce just smiles and happily chats with him for thirty minutes and he’s in a good mood all day because Jason willingly had a casual conversation with him, and when the JL ask why Batman’s in such a good mood at a meeting later that day Jason just goes bright red and doesn’t know what to say because he didn’t realise how much Bruce genuinely craves just catching up with him every now and then.
Dick will stalk him for weeks and wait until Bruce has a really tough busy day at work, specifically so he can wait for the evening where Bruce finally has a single moment to himself in a bar somewhere to relax, and then he busts in loudly sitting down next to Bruce and talking non-stop while ordering a drink, thinking that Bruce is going to be mad because this was his one peaceful moment and Dick ruined it by constantly tracking him. but instead the second Bruce realises Dick’s there all his exhaustion disappears. he gets a really wide genuinely pleased look on his face and happily offers to buy Dick a drink because ‘it’s so rare that they get to hang out!’ and Dick is left floundering because he was trying to be an asshole but now he just feels bad that he doesn’t spend time with Bruce outside of patrol business.
Tim keeps watching him through security cameras and updating him through text on his location in an attempt to make him tired of the constant supervision, but every time he texts Bruce like ‘you just walked into starbucks for the second time today.’ Bruce will just openly smile at his phone and respond like ‘would you like me to get you a drink? i can drop it off at your office if you’d like :)’ and Tim has to give up almost immediately.
essentially i like the idea of the batkids trying to annoy Bruce with themselves, forgetting that Bruce is just a dad who really loves his kids and can’t ever be annoyed by them.
In the spirit of encouraging people to comment on fanfics while also making it easier to do so, I feel obliged to share a browser extension for ao3 that has quite literally revolutionized the comment game for me.
I present to you: the floating ao3 comment box!
From what I've seen, a big problem for many people is that once you reach the comments at the bottom of a fic, your memory of it miraculously disappears. Anything you wanted to say is stuck ten paragraphs ago, and you barely remember what you thought while reading. This fixes that!
I'll give a little explanation on the features and how it works, but if you want to skip all that, here's the link.

The extension is visible as a small blue box in the upper left corner.

If you click on it, you open a comment box window at the bottom of your screen but not at the bottom of the fic. I opened my own fic for demonstrative purposes.
The website also gives explanations on how exactly it functions, but I'll summarize regardless.
insert selection -> if you highlight a sentence in the fic it will be added in italics to the comment box
add to comment box -> once you're done writing your comment, you click this button and the entire thing will automatically copied to the ao3 comment box
delete -> self explanatory
on mulitchapter fics, you will be given the option to either add the comment to just the current chapter or the entire fic
The best part? You can simply close the window the same way you opened it and your progress will automatically be saved. So you can open it, comment on a paragraph, and then close it and keep reading without having the box in your face.
Comments are what keep writers going, and as both a writer and a reader, I think it's such an easy way of showing support and enthusiasm.

Tucker Foley finally getting an interview with Wayne Enterprises after months of applications and networking, caffeine abuse and despite the fact that Sam thinks the Wayne’s are sketchy. and Tucker just sighs like this is a regular Tuesday before sprinting off-screen yelling:

Tim absolutely mutes himself because he’s laughing too hard and now he’s obsessed because WHAT do you MEAN sleep-floating???
Meanwhile Danny wakes up just long enough to realize he exposed his ghost nonsense to a Wayne and immediately hides his face in Tucker’s shoulder like a cat that knocked over a vase
and Tucker still somehow gets the internship because Tim is like “well this is the most interesting interview I’ve had all month
It also shows that Tucker can deal with Gotham weirdness if he’s already used to dealing with meta shenanigans, gives him an edge over other interns who don’t have any experience with special survival instincts needed to live in Bat territory
I think the most hilarious place to put Post-Canon Sokka would have been the university at Ba Sing Se. I think he would have made a great unhinged professor. Also, in true Sokka fashion, he should have completely dodged fame. Momo is more famous than he is.
He wants to demonstrate to the class how this thing called electricity works, so he's going to be bringing in a Firebender, so everybody be cool, we're all friends here... and in walks Princess Azula of the Fire Nation. One-time conqueror of the city. One of the students is currently writing an essay on how her brief rule of the city affected fruit trade. She says she considers the class to still be her subjects as she doesn't acknowledge any pretenders to any of her thrones, but for now you're exempted from bowing and "Your Highness" will do. It's a really interesting lecture.
"Okay, guys - hey, listen up, everyone - I won't be here next week, me and Aang are going to-" yeah right, sure, Professor Sokka knows the Avatar. Except, of course, the Avatar walks in sheepishly and says that Appa might have gotten into Sokka's hybrid crops, and then you all have to sit there and watch your professor chase the Avatar around with a sword.
One postgrad student is specializing in Water Tribe Cultures. She's currently studying the massive cultural shift that happened in the Northern Water Tribe at the end of the war - oh, and Professor, I absolutely know that you're from the Southern Water Tribe, but it's just that the shift started with Master Katara, and of course I don't think that every person from the South knows one another haha it's just that I need to ask her some questions and I thought maybe you could help me write a letter or write a letter of introduction or...
Sokka looks at her blankly and goes "yeah, she's my sister. KATARA!" which is followed by a faint answering "fuck you!" from Somewhere and to the horror/elation of our postgrad, Master Katara bursts in and is promptly beaned in the head with a rock by Professor Sokka. Her brother. her hero and her professor are siblings and currently brawling on the floor.
Sokka does not teach or study history, but he does sometimes sit in on lectures about recent history. Whenever he does, several doctoral students flock in to sit near him (even if it's an intro course) so that they can eavesdrop on his grumbling. (No matter how they try, an "overheard utterance" is not a valid source according to their professors. No, we have no sources on the Avatar's bison taking part in combat - sky bison are not war animals and...)
He gets regular deliveries with the Beifong family crest on them, and he goes "sweet, Toph must have found some new minerals" and at this point nobody needs to ask which Toph. He seems to have friends everywhere, literally everywhere. Wang was headed out to this massive swamp to study if it's one big organism, and Sokka told him to find some guy named Hue and "don't mind the loincloth." One time the university gets shut down because the Earth King wants to visit. Oh, visit the University? What an honor- Of fucking course not, he wants to visit Professor Sokka, who yells at him and his royal guards for interrupting his day. The Earth King and his many, many royal guards then sheepishly say sorry and file out.
The last straw is when - not a week after he yelled at the Earth King - the assistant head of the Political Science dept walks in to the faculty lounge to find Sokka having tea with a nice normal man dressed in Earth greens for once, and can't resist a little joke. "Let me guess, you're having tea with the Fire Lord." And then she can instantly tell that she fucked up, because both of them go stock still.
So when the two men awkwardly stand up and proceed to introduce the Fire Lord whose portrait she has in her office because she is the assistant head of Political Science as Li, a server at the Jasmine Dragon, she just says "hello Li" and leaves to find a bottle of something strong.
Avatar!Zuko, but he thinks everyone can bend all elements, he's not special
I had a short phase were I really liked to read Avatar!Zuko stories and got the following idea stuck in my head: Zuko is born as the Avatar (Aang is still around, but he's just an airbender who was told he's the avatar and got atuck in the spirit realm for one hundred years). Zuko manages to bend water, air and fire before the age of ten, but because of a row of misunderstandings he believes that a) every bender can bend all elements to a varying degree, b) the Avatar is special as they're the only one able to master all four and c) his father wants him to absolutely master fire first and would get super angry if he found out about him bending anything else, so he keeps it a secret. He still practices a but, maybe from rolls in the library, but it's kind of his guilty pleasure. The only one who knows is Azula, who shares his belief and is very proud that she has an affinity to fire so strong she basically doesn't even manage any of the other elements which obviously makes her better.
Canon proceeds pretty much as usual, except Zuko sometimes gets away to enjoy practicing the other elements and us quite interested in things like waterbending scrolls. I also have this idea where he finds one of these flying sticks Aang uses in one of the air temples and learns flyimg, feeling free for the first time.
And of course Aang has to deal with the fact that he just doesn't manage to bend water, no matter how much he tries. He gets doubts about being the Avatar, but Katara probably gives him confidence.
I can imagine dozens of scenarios of people finding out about Zuko being the Avatar, and him being deep in denial, most of them hilarious. I'm not quite sure what happens if Azula is the one to figure it out first. And whether her father would even believe her...
Do not forget that discord is still planning on moving forward with age verification and has only "delayed it" until "the later half of 2026." They are hoping you will forget while they quietly roll it out when no one is looking. Continue to message them about it. Continue to talk about it. Make it clear this is unacceptable. Discord is one of the only places left you can even talk about or share adult content in private at scale anymore. They will tell you "its not that bad if you dont use it for nsfw" but fuck them and fuck people who say that shit.

I love the idea of Jim having beef with Dick but he's got zero reason, other than he dates his daughter. Jim who grumbles every time Dick's name is mention, Jim who scowls when Dick comes over for dinner or to pick Babs up and nevermind if Dick helps Mrs Gordon with dishes or gets James Jr actually talking instead of just hiding in his room, Jim just doesn't vibe with that kid. He knows deep down that Dick is a perfectly good kid, he gets good grades, he's kind and helpful and he treats Babs like a queen but Jim still has beef.
However, that doesn't mean he will tolerate anybody else beefing with Dick. Jim has to go to Bludhaven to solve some crime and he sees Dick, his usual sunny self in a beat cop's uniform when he greets the Commissioner, but Jim watches as other cops gaze and torment Dick in the breakroom and on patrol and Dick just takes it with good naturedness but Jim sees that gentle smile slip a little. And that simply won't do.
The thing is, the Bludhaven cops fear Jim Gordon. The man has taken down some big names. He's the only guy that their Commissioner is scared of. He's made their ADA shut the bed. The man keeps the fucking Batman on a leash. He has outdrank Harvey Bullock. Nightwing speaks highly of him. Dick suddenly wonders why all the cops in Bludhaven suddenly go out of their way to be accommodating to him, he don't spit in his coffee, they don't put trash in his patrol car, they let him pet the officers from the K-9 unit. He tells Babs about the sudden change and he asks what he can get Jim as a thank you. Babs, who has seen her dad's shackles raise every time Dick is hear it mentioned, asks him how he can he sure her dad did anything. Dick tells her that "the Commish has never let me down yet, he's like a guardian angel in a trenchcoat" and asks whether Jim drinks Irish or Scotch whiskey.
like, 90% of the time when i see Tim Drake as Joker Junior stuff it includes Jason being like, either traumatised or really uncomfortable with the whole thing because of the Ethiopia incident, but i gotta say i think the opposite would be wayyyyy more entertaining.
Jason finds out Tim was turned into Joker Junior and was, in essence, Joker's adopted son for a while, and his first instinctual thought is 'alright well that kid has to be mine now.'
like, i don't think a lot of us take into account regarding the Joker that Jason isn't always just... terrified of everything Joker-centric. he straight up stole the Red Hood mantle from the guy. he loves jokerized seasoning on his fries. when he first came back to Gotham to kill the Joker he just kinda nabbed him and threw him in a closet all tied up for a while so he could go antagonise Bruce. like, Jason doesn't give a fuck. it's not always fear that fuels his rage against the Joker, it's fuckin' spite.
with that in mind, i think it would be funnier if Jason found out that Joker tried to make Tim into his son and instantly responded with 'ok well fuck the Joker, Tim is now MY son.' and Bruce just has to watch forlorn from the batcomputer as his kid is stolen by his other kid like. at least they aren't fighting this time?
i think Tim was supremely worried about Jason's reaction to Joker Junior stuff, too. like. he fully thought he'd spark a panic attack or get himself killed once Jason found out. instead he accidentally lets out a Joker-laugh one time and Jason's just like fuck yeah kid let it out.
Tim: ...does it not freak you out, or like, remind you of him?
Jason: buddy are you joking? i'm wearing one of his old costumes. i have stolen his child. that man is a narcissist who loves attention, the worst revenge we can do to him is to just take all his gimmicks and leave him a nobody. steal his fucking laugh, Timmers, we gotta take that asshole for all he's worth.
Tim: ...huh. you know i never thought of it that way.
Jason: yeah. me and Harley are thinking of starting up a FWB situation just to really ruin his day.
Bruce, yelling from three rooms away: *completely resigned* please do not do that,
Jason, ignoring him: -it will also piss off Bruce, which is two birds one stone.
Bruce: Jason please i went to school with her.
Jason: if we start a family group chat i'll add you, don't worry.
