Jason goes undercover at GU and joins a club for older students because it's an easy demographic to target. Jason's cover is that he's studying Russian lit and dropped out of high school because health reasons but he's got his GED now and is getting his degree like he always wanted.

Danny's new to Gotham and at GU because he got in on scholar ship for astro-enginering. turns out not a lot of people wanna work on a semi secret space station that gets attacked at least once a year and is full of heroes. but Danny was a hero once and he loves space and come on whats the worst that can happen he gets thrown into space? he doesn't need to breath. Gotham has great Metahuman rights and if he just says he's a meta no one cares about his powers. central city wanted him to "prove it medically" no thanks.

Jason? Took one look at the meta that refused to medically ‘prove it’ (he’d watched the guy forget to breathe for a few hours and fully understood why he doesn’t want that on ANY government accessible files) who clearly was willing to join a cult to make friends. Damnit, he’s on civvie guard for the guy that survived mad scientist parents, isn’t he? (That’s his new undead bestie, Fuck Off everyone else)

Danny? Unaware Jason is going into the cult on purpose or is aware it’s a cult and Not a religious thing or coping mech to probably being revived at some point. Danny is 90% sure he can take everyone out in a fight and is probably sending notes to Jazz about what he’s seeing and asking for help de-programing the cult brainwashing as they go. Dani is laughing at him once she finds out her template joined a cult dedicated to summoning a ‘demon of Just Law to wash away the corruption of Gotham’s legal system’ while Danny is Embarrassed.

Lady gotham finds this whole situation hilarious, and is rooting for tue cult to summon said ‘demon’ (the most nitpicky ghost of the infinite realms obsessed with Legal Jargon whose dual obsession with legal codes and ‘destroying hypocrites’ marked them as a demon eons ago).

Jason is not sure how much Danny buys the cult’s BS, but is glad he’s questioning the teachings. Now, how to tastefully have Danny miss the day he plans to bust the group as the next step in their plan seems to involve kidnapping a few cops (dirty by all rights in gotham), a law student, twoface for some reason, a judge, and few legislators and calendarman (reason for the Rogue Regulation laws) and a few more (probably a domestic abuser or two in the mix) Apparently Ivy is willing donate needed plants in return for the cult helping her with the chants to better commune with The Green so Jason has That to worry about too now. Goddamnit.

If Danny is carefully dropping hints as an anonymous mole not to the GCPD (as danny is acab thanks to sam since middle school) but to Red Robin, who passes the tips to Jason? Well, babs has too much on her plate to notice the pair aren’t working together.

Where are the others? Separate missions and nonsenses. B is in space with damian and jon and superman. Dick in blud. Stephanie and Cass? On a roadtrip mission together. Duke? Aware of what Jason is doing, and probably the only one aware Danny is the mole, but is on opposite schedules from Jason and is just happy both weirdos made a friend to interfere… plus he can do his chaos without any oversight if Jason stays distracted by Danny. Tim? Doing another international mission and takes any tips Danny ‘future JL engineer’ Fenton sends his tipline to Jason in text form, and is under the impression Jason doesn’t know WHO the mole is as Danny is doing a great job as an ex-vigilante playing civilian now.

Jason and the cult? 90% sure Danny was raised in a small cult and oddly enough are trying to help Danny understand ‘food coming to life is Deeply Concerning for non-aliens my guy’. Danny is only allowed to bring baked goods to their meetings as uh… they don’t trust something won’t revive.

Also bonus funny points if half the cult members are formerly revived individuals of the opinion Danny is a poor meta in need of Justice for (presumed) prior trafficking attempts. One finds out central city wanted his abilities medically validated and was Pissed on his behalf (dude’s little sister is a missing meta due to documentation in the foster system in early Meta Rights days—he adds this to the Central City Hate pages). Not all metas want a paper trail for gov and billionaire weirdoes to peruse assholes! Medical privacy rights should extend to meta status!

Jason is having a hard time protecting Danny from the cult influence due to ‘uptick in recruiting’ Danny. These cult adultier adults are Concerned for Danny and his causal (truamatic) lore drops from home. Jason is also concerning to them for the reason of ‘joker survivor’ and his eyes glowing on occasion and his refusal to accept he’s a meta, so cult members have taken to splitting their concerned individuals to help both. I need to note, many sincerely believe they are helping by doing this. And are as subtle as a brick to the face.

Danny is in Gotham for college, and during finals month the Joker goes on a spree. After the Joker breaks out of Arkham for the THIRD time Danny in a fit of sleep deprived pique does a bit of research, breaks into Arkham, and swaps prisoner transfers so that the Joker is taken to a prison out of state.

It’s only after finals are over, and he has slept for two days, that he calls Tucker to check on his half brained plan, to find out it worked? Somehow it worked. The Joker is now at a different prison where he has no corrupted guards etc to help him breakout and is now stuck there.

By swapping paperwork, Danny quite accidentally managed to cut through all those problems. The transfer was already happening before anyone knew anything about it. Therefore, it didn't need some corrupt officials to sign off on it; the receiving prison didn't have to be strong armed into taking him; and probably most crucially, Joker had no time to breakout between learning about his transfer and said transfer happening.

I also think it'd be good if Danny didn't even send him somewhere super high security (ie Belle Reve). Those transfer are probably rarer and come with too much fanfare. Instead, Danny sent him to some random prison in, like, Wisconsin* or something. Which, on top of being narratively funnier, actually works out better because it's so far removed from Joker's normal network of goons and corruption. He either has to wait for his normal helpers to get there, or try to build all that influence back from the ground up while being stifled by being under such close watch and having to fight his way to the top of whatever established hierarchy there already is in the new place (again, alone, without his own established network bolstering him).

Either way it's gonna take time. Months and years even. And, once they know about it, time is very useful to the Bats for cleaning house before Joker inevitably ends up back in Gotham. The more of the Joker's network they can root out and clean up, the harder it'll be for him to breakout again later.

Plus, the longer this random prison can hold him, it helps build very strong evidence for Bruce's legitimate attempts to get Joker transferred. No more other institutions arguing they don't have the means to secure someone like the Joker. Security isn't the issue; Exhibit A, this prison did it for years no issue.

Now, somehow, their entire mental health is based on the continued life and happiness of this fairground goldfish that they picked up.

Neither of you know the first thing about how to care for even a healthy fish. This fish has been poorly cared for, has multiple diseases and the person who handed it over explicitly didn't expect it to live nearly as long as it already has.

You're frantically googling how to set up a fish tank, where to buy fish food, can you even take a fish to the vet? Your partner wants you to know that they're happy they made it home and survived their horrific ordeal, but also that if anything happens to the fish then they're going to kill everyone on this planet and then themself.

You're honestly wondering if you're even helping the fish, or just prolonging its suffering, but your partner will only accept medical help for their many injuries or engage in basic self-care once they're confident that the fish is being looked after.

So you get a tank. You set up a filter and all that stuff. You learn way more than you ever wanted to know about water temperature and ph and nitrate levels. The fish is safe. You start to develop some affection for the little guy. Your partner begins to recover. The fish begins to recover.

Which is when you learn that in its 'healthy' state, the fish regularly refuses to sleep when tired, keeps begging for food that is obviously unhealthy for it (and struggling to eat the food that you do provide because “it tastes gross”), and continually tries to persuade your partner to take it out of its nice safe tank so it can go explore the wonderful world of Outside, where the slightest mishap will kill it instantly.
