There is no food in the Infinite Realms, there are dead animals and plants yes, but they are made of ectoplasm. There is no food in the Infinite Realms.

It is this very reason cultures all over the world place offerings of food for the deceased, to give them the one thing the afterlife cannot gift them. For all ectoplasm is infinite in it's forms, it is still ectoplasm.

Danny learned this the hard way when he took the throne.

The meals he requests within his keeps are always pale imitations to true food, the texture is wrong, the taste is always too bland with that undercurrent of ectoplasm. He can subsist on ectoplasm alone, but as time passes he comes to miss food desperately.

He is beginning to understand why Lunch Lady reacted so drastically whenever anyone outside the realms threw away food or skipped meals.

It gets to the point that when he smells the aroma of a still warm bowl of soup he perks up like a hound locking onto a rabbit, he scours the keep until he narrows down the source to a room he's never entered. Within he finds the soup, in translucent form as if intangible, it sits innocently within a glowing circle on the floor.

He approaches entranced by what has to be the first meal in over a century, the bowl getting more and more solid the closer he gets, before the room around him shifts.
