"It doesn't help your credibility to exaggerate, most employers wouldn't literally work you to death" like, I used to work in distribution. If booking a truck driver for back to back shifts until they fall asleep at the wheel, crash, and die counts as being worked to death, I have personally met employers who've worked employees to death and gotten away with a slap on the wrist. It may not be universal, but it's a hell of a lot more common than a lot of us would prefer to think.
The FAA had to explicitly make rules about how long pilots have to have off between shifts, and how far away from their home you can pin their home airport, because it doesn't mean shit that someone has 10 hours between shifts if they have a 2 hour commute each way. They had to make these rules because multiple passenger airplanes crashed because the pilots were exhausted from tight scheduling. Employers won't just work you to death, they'll take a hundred random customers with you.
shane wakes up from a nap and notices that ilya isn’t in the room, which is incredibly weird because since they arrived in spain, ilya seems to think he’s a part of shane’s body. he gets worried and picks up his phone and sees that ilya sent him a message saying “my beloved sweetheart, i’m down at the dance ballroom learning salsa with incredible ladies” and shane snorts and thinks “that seems like a place where ilya would be”. so he goes after his husband and finds him surrounded by old ladies, dancing with one of them, and one of the ladies notices shane at the door and goes “oh young boy, you haven’t lied, you do have a very good looking husband” and ilya follows her gaze and finds shane and opens a wide grin going “mi amor!” and he apologizes to the lady he was dancing with to go to his husband and another lady says “oh if i was younger that boy right there would be my catch” and ilya turns to her with shane in his arms and goes “ah no, shane is useless with women” and shane slaps him and he keeps going “me on the other hand, i’m for incredible women like you all” and the same lady says “if you didn’t spend the whole hour talking about your husband we would’ve believed you” and ilya fake gasps while shane laughs and goes “don’t say that, my husband already has a big ego” and he smiles and turns to shane who was already looking at him and he kisses his husband while the ladies cheer.
a scene that really gets me is in episode 6 is where they’re all sat at the table and yuna says “oh but that’s sad” when they tell her they’re gonna keep their relationship secret until they retire and shane responds “yeah we know” like that just sums up the queer experience.
a lot of the queer experience is people being like “wait it’s actually crazy you have to deal with that” and queer people just going 🤷♂️ because it’s always been like that. it’s sad but it’s not shocking to shane and ilya that they have to hide because there is no other option. it’s acceptance by defeat because it feels like there is no alternative
“yeah we know” because we have been living in that reality for the last almost 10 years. we know

diagram showing the inter-player connections for every nhl rpf ship with >50 works on ao3. if anyone cares.
It bothers me so much that the healthcare system relies so much on the patient's ability to advocate for themselves, organize their history, and be so persistent against every medical “professional” who says there’s nothing wrong/they can do. But so many struggle with fatigue, brain fog, and face such ingrained systemic barriers, that the people who need and deserve help and support can’t access it.
I saw something recently that resonated with me: “Access shouldn't depend on who has the energy to fight for it.” And I’ve never agreed with anything more.
Harris wakes up to headlines that are just versions of “TROUBLE IN HOCKEY PARADISE?: ROZANOV AND HOLLANDER SEEN ALLEGEDLY THROWING FISTS IN OTTAWA NIGHTCLUB” and Shane sends him a rambling explanation about how he would Never abuse Ilya and it’s all a misunderstanding etc etc while Ilya just sends was a sex thing sorry ((
Jade Pike: *Hayden, Shane and Jackie are inside the house getting food and Ilya is outside with the Pike kids and Anya* Uncle Shane, Uncle Ilya had an accident in the car... Ruby is helping him.
Shane and Hayden: *They get super concerned and get outside fast af because Ilya was showing off his Porsche to the kids, they immediately head out to see what happened*
Ilya: *Is stuck inside this thing*

Victor Frankenstein after achieving the impossible and building a fucking person from scraps of the dead: Oh god, ew, ew it's ugly! Yucky! Yucky! Gross! Ew! Ew! Yucky! Yucky! Gross! Ew!
Quite frankly yall need to be projecting more on the doms. Make the DOM have guilty sexual fantasies !!! Maybe the DOM is shamefully staring at the ceiling after waking up from a dream!!! Yall are cowards. Do none of you have any appreciation for the noble dom identity crisis. Do none of you have any respect for guilty sadists with control issues and who desperately want autonomy for once in their damn lives and who just want to Keep someone, for once, who want to be allowed to Want and Take . Do NONE of yall have any respect for sadists realizing with horror how badly they want to hurt the person they would do anything to protect and take care of and make smile? Cowards, all of you.
I think Shane sometimes gets so incredibly overwhelmed by the sheer staggering extent of the overflowing love he feels for Ilya that he starts getting paranoid that it's like, a genuine medical condition.
Just picture Shane getting up for a midnight piss and a glass of water before he softly trudges back to bed, but he gets distracted staring at Ilya's sleeping face, the beautiful bow of his slightly parted mouth, a single stripe of moonlight cutting across his high cheekbones, the faintest beginnings of stubble that Shane knows the exact feeling of rubbing against his inner thighs, the flickering of his eyes beneath the thin skin of his eyelids and then Shabe blinks and looks around and What the hell, it's been like twenty minutes, he's just been standing in the dark staring at his husband (his heart still jack knifes wildly just thinking the words, his husband his husband, and Shane doesn't know which he loves more: husband or his), and his eyes were fuzzy from sleep but he's wide awake now, so then he goes down a Google rabbit hole: chest spasms, feel like hearts gonna explode with bouts of giddy euphoria when looking at husband. medical advice?

Why a fear of "looking different" isn't a good enough excuse

From January, 2025. A great opinion piece on the socio-political aspects of masking.
IDGAF. No-one's gonna foot my hospital bill, and even if they were to cover 100% of my medical expenses they're not the one who'll go through the suffering &c. So fuck off mask-haters 😄😷🖕🖕

I’m just saying, we’ve never seen them in the same place at the same time…
A year or so ago I went to wood carving club with a bruised eye from my dog slamming his nose into my eyesocket and like every old lady there pulled me aside at some point to ask if my partner hit me here are some of the solutions they had in case he did.
-Replacing his vitimens with poision
- getting her brother to invite him out onto his boat and then killing him and dumping him in the ocean and saying he got drunk and fell off.
- get tboned with him in the passenger seat and then once he was in the hospital theres all kinds of easy ways to kill him like not washing my hands after a poop and then touching his wound casually.
-replacing his drink of choice with moonshine!?
- take him on a hike thats locally notorious for a rapid otter attacking hikers and once he had rabies I could just kill him any ol way and say self defense.
-One lady just cheerfully informed me she had a gun and only a few years left anyway
By the way, this is why we have, and why we need, no fault divorce. Because otherwise Granny will cheerfully find you an alternative.
